Hello All
I am sitting here looking at the tide calendar and the only Clam digging tides that we will have in August/September are the weekend of August 27 - 29, 2004.
Langley does not take reservations so first come gets the best spaces.
Saturday the 28th there is a -2.0 tide at around 10:00am . would be a good morning of clam and mussel collecting.if the game dept. hasn't closed the crabbing season by then we can set some pots in Elger Bay.

Lets kick this around some and see what transpires.

OK, lets plan on it...For those of you who have not been here, this is one fun place! The village of Langley is close by, the clams and mussels are fabulous, but best of all is the show Ben the Harbormaster puts on! "QUIET - NO TALKING! WE ARE MOVING BOATS HERE!!!!"

what did you say Pat?

Langley is worth the price of admission just to watch the harbormaster...this would cut into the heart of salmon harvest but it may be worth it...hummm, must ponder

A good launch for the Langley gig (for those of us south of Langley anyway) is Everett - just a nice little run up Saratoga Passage. Everett is a great marina, lots of ramps and parking. Or as you say, Lake Washington if you are in for a bit more of a cruise to get there...plus the Ship Canal and locking through as a bonus! The main feature of this event (besides Ben) is the clam, mussel and corn on the cob feed on the dock. The mussels are done in a big stew pot with garlic, onions, and tomatoes - the nectar is awesome!

Yeah, count me in, I think I can make that gig. Heck, I can run from Lake Washington.

We are planning a trip to the San Juans starting that weekend and going through Labor day. We will probably meet up with you in Langley on Friday night and then see what happens from there. Anyone planning on being in the San Juans that week, we'd love to meet up with you.

Robin or Roger if you still have the pictures of the first ever cruise in Langley it would be fun to see one posted again.

Looking forward to finally having our boat in the water as of 3pm this afternoon. Anyone out near Hat Island this weekend is welcome to stop by for a visit. See you all soon. Deb :hot

OK
I searched my picture files and found these pics of the first ever (at the time C-Dogs) gathering at Langley

Somebody will have to help me out here with the date. I don't have it written down as to when we first started these wonderful Gatherings

OK, folks - get thee over to the signup sheet for this one! So far only Sensei, Bambina and Daydream are signed up...you can get a sense from Roger's pictures what a neat place the Boat Harbor is, but you can't smell the steaming mussel pot, clams or corn on the cob!

Please count us in!

We have our fingers crossed that Les will finish up TwoLuckyFish this week so we can launch and start C-Dorying our way around. Since we live in Maxwelton (Clinton), the ride to Langley is a little short...but it would be our first chance to cruise with the Brats, so we'll take it!

Looking forward to meeting everyone ...

Mac & Linda

Mac and Linda, we'll see you there! And you'll get more cruising time in if you choose because we need to run north to the clam field.

I'll call Ben to tell him we're coming. He doesn't take reservations but when Brats come calling he morphs into a kinder, gentler dictator. I think he likes us. Remember when he used caution tape to fence off a good chunk of dock for our noon return from clamming? We seduced him with an invitation to join our evening feast.

Steve, Langley is west of Everett across Saratoga Passage on Whidbey Island. Nice little marina with a pirate for a dock master. Ben is a good guy and he will always find room for ya.

Fred

We are scheduled to pickup the boat from EQ on the 27th. Sounds like a good first trip to meet some CD owners and see the area. Don't know if we will be able to get there Fri. evening or on Sat.

Also, we don't know anything about clam'n. But I do have a crab trap.
Steve & Karen
Boat name undecided.

OK, it looks like there are eight boats signed up right now (go to the "Event Signups" page if you are coming but haven't signed up yet, sign-up is NOT necessary but it is nice to know how many are coming). Roger, tell us it ain't so - you might bug out in favor of cruising the Columbia with Bill and El? Tough life, but somebody has to do it I guess (and who am I to talk!!) Can you post the lat / lon of our DNR clam / mussel beach one more time?

I will be out with the Sensei on Friday and will check out the coordinates for the clam beach. . I will stop in at Langley and have a talk with Harbormaster Ben about our upcoming assault on his domain. even tho they don't take reservations, he has helped us out and saved spots for us in the past.
My Bugging out is just a rumor that is not true. I am planning on being at Langley and then we hope to leave from there and meet up with the Halcyon somewhere on the Columbia. (provided that we are not digging potatos)

Now as to some planning for Langley, we will probably eat dinner up the hill on Friday night and then back to the dock for evening BS session and watch the antics of Ben trying to fit everyone in and shuffling boats back and forth from one dock to another. On Saturday we should be headding out for the clam beach arround 8:30 or 9:00 AM. the low tide is arround 10:15 so we should have a good couple of hours for digging and collecting clams and mussels. If crab season is still going I will put 4 pots out, on Friday ,in Elger Bay.
I will bring my propane burner for cooking crab and whatever. we will probably bring a desert of some kind for the pot luck. See you all over there.
