There is an exhibition at the Royal BC Museum called "Vikings: Lives Beyond the Legends". I've heard it is exceptional. Very close to the marina.

Following the Friday Harbor Gathering we spent three days in Victoria with the boat at the Marina in front of the Empress. We found Victoria a delight & would highly recommend to all who can make this Gathering or visit there at another time to do so. We only had two disappointments in our visit there & that was the Royal BC Museum & the Viking exhibition. With the museum perhaps we were expecting to much after all the accolades about it & our many visits to other natural history museums such as the Cody, Wy, historical Center, Smithsonian & Denver museums of natural history. The Viking exhibition does have a great display of art from that period, but it's emphasizes on the peaceful farming family at the home front after seeing it advertised with a blood red warrior was a put off & it's overall display an overly overt attempt to balance the Viking image of past history from a brutal neighbor terrorizing warrior society to a more peaceful agrarian one.

We did find the small maritime museum there fascinating.

Hi, Well Susan is back and all is going well with her father or as best as can be expected. They ended up removing his whole left lung. Tumor was the size of a baseball and attached to two ribs, one front and one back, which they also removed. No sign of cancer in the lymph nodes yet but not all test are complete. Looks like a oxygen tank is in Dads future but he is already walking short distances ( to the hall and back).

We have reservation at a Milestones Grill and Bar at 812 Wharf Street. We have three tables of 10 booked at 815 pm. thanks to Dorothy of Paddle-2t. She stepped in when we needed it and found us a place for the Friday night dinner. Thank you very much Dorothy for helping out.:D
