08/18 - 08/20 - Bellingham, WA

Patty and I revived the Bellingham CBGT two years ago after it had gone dark for a year or two. We will be cruising the Great Loop in August 2017, and so will not be able to host the gathering in 2017 (we'll be back for the 2018 gathering).

It would be a shame for this to go dark, it is much easier if it is a regular CBGT that people can count on! Any volunteers can PM us and we will give you all the info you need to host the Bellingham CBGT in 2017 (and later, if you want to).

The guest dock at Squalicum Harbor really should be reserved in January for an August date, now is the time to step up if you ar at all inclined!

Thanks!

OK, fine, I can't take any more pressure. I'll do it.

Besides, it's been over six years since I've headed a gig, benefiting all the while from the efforts of hard working Brats like Pat, Patti and pals. But I'm afraid they've set the bar pretty darn high, so if '17 attendees would just lower your expectations a notch or two I might like that.

Pat and Patti, we can't let this rendezvous vanish while you're on sabbatical. The show must go on. And when you return, just like that we'll reinstall you as Grand Poobahs.

Thanks, Brock, look for a PM later this morning!

Alyssa Jean, I'd appreciate that. I'm always the littlest fella wherever I go. Deep seated insecurities have found a comfortable home. I'm like that shivering chiwowa staring up at red setters, Malamutes and Washington Huskies, who are 12-1. And I can't even spell chiwowa.

OK, Bellinghammers are set for the weekend of August 18-22, 2017. We'll be at the same long dock as last year; Gate 9, P-Dock.
Krista at the Port said today is the first day they're taking reservations for 2017. "You're the very first group to book reservations for next year," she beamed.

Folks, this is the kind of service you deserve, and why you voted for me. Dog need feeding/cat petting? Need a personal shopper? Kids need a ride to practice? I'm here for you. I'm irascible, but reliable.

I needed that. Thanks Brock. I look forward to seeing you and the beautiful Bambina at Bellingham. :love

Thanks, guys. Man, what a rich resource of information and friendship we've created. Last Saturday I visited a longtime Brat couple I hadn't seen in a year, and I couldn't have spent a day with warmer, friendlier people.

I find that's who we are to one another, and why our friendships span the years and bring us together though many miles apart. Doesn't matter if we're absent for a month or a decade, we're welcomed back as if we'd just left to go check the crab pot. What a marvelous little gig we've got goin' on here. Two huge thumbs up to Administrators Tyboo and Da Nag for your years of dedicated stewardship to this fabulous pub.

Brock....Is the Bellingham gathering 5 days? Friday thru Tuesday? We are trying to plan a trip north hopefully to include the Bellingham gathering.

Gene, thanks for bringing that to my attention! No, it doesn't include Monday and Tuesday. The event is August 18-20, not 22. Just how could the 22nd be typed, proofread, reviewed again and pass for fact, I wonder? Naturally my ghostwriter, a devotee of fake news, has been dismissed and detained.

Mentioned in another thread, "the carpool to the factory for a tour" thing. I know it might be early but is that in the plan?

An option might be for a drive in date at the factory that would not be on this same weekend, so we could arrive in our own vehicles from wherever. (Maybe the first ever motorcycle CBGT). Or the factory might be willing to bus us up from the CBGT dock? Who knows?

Harvey, I don't know if the factory tour has been confirmed yet, but I do know that it has been discussed as with previous years to have a factory tour during the Bellingham event.

Brock and I did speak with one of the reps from the Port of Bellingham at their booth at the Seattle boat show and learned they have a free shuttle service for transporting people around and would be glad to help drive groups over to Fairhaven for the tour as long as it's within their normal business hours (I think after 9AM on weekends). That service would also be handy for getting up to a grocery store for ice, food, and beverage provisioning which has been my only complaint about the Squalicum Harbor Marina - there's not a lot of anything within easy walking distance.

I was only half kidding about the dinghy race - if it's calm enough I'll definitely consider getting myself over there via dinghy, it's about a 10 minute run. Last year some crazy Brat even walked back from Fairhaven.
