Hi folks,

I spoke with Mike and it is time to start thinking about the 2008 Adventure in Paradise. This years event will be August 17th thru August 23rd. Mike as many of you know has spearheaded this great tradition since it was just two boats back in 2000! This year Mike will again be busy with his obligations for the Coast Guard; and he said it would be Ok for me to hone in on leading this event. Thanks Mike for starting this great event! :)

So if we can get a sign up list going we will start the planning. Details to follow.

I was hoping for the week of August 24 to 30. Oh well. :(
We have a "camp out" with the motorhome group at a friends ranch August 21-24. Guess we'll just have to leave "island time" early this year.

Thanks Ron for taking over the commodore role. This will be the first year we can attend the entire event.

We are anchored in Cat Harbor at the moment and can only hope for weather like this in August...it's just not fair to have such incredible weather this time of year.

We are on the list- though Fishtales will not be there--- C-Hawk will be, if the Factory ever gets off their @$$ and get my boat to me.

I've put in for the vacation time off, now it's up to the factory to do their part.

Joel- you want to run over with us from Channel Islands Harbor on Sunday? We'll be leaving the Island early Thursday morning in order to meet up with the motorhome group on Friday.

Just so you all don't think I'm flaking on you.........I'm REALLY busy with the Coast Guard now that I'm crew qualified on an active duty boat, the 25' RB-S. That's the boat you see with the bright orange collar around it, skipping along at 45 knots with a machine gun mounted. Who said 70 year olds can't have fun!! Here an article in the current issue of Navigator Magazine about me and my "Amigos". See page 3. I still will try to make Catalina, however!!

WOW WOW! Way to go at 70 years!

With my bad knee I could not run a mile and one-half at my age of 59. I am impressed with your discipline. Maybe Levi Strauss should take you back!!!

Mike, Congratulations and see you at Two Harbors.

Mike- We wouldn't think such a thing about you--- why would we? When we know it. Hope you can make it.

Had to miss Paradise in 2007 and have been struggling to remain well adjusted to the world since... so I definitely won't miss it this year! I only took C-Pup out to sea twice in 2007 and not yet in 2008... :cry I truly miss seeing ya'll! Let's catch some yellow tail just outside the harbor like I did in 2006! :teeth Roger... bring your guitar and a steel mesh gloves to wrestle with Blaze! :wink

So that's the dogs name ...Blaze...that's not the name Roger told me...maybe he was bit by someone elses dog..... his was much more colorful...

I just realized I hadn't signed up for this yet. That's three total for this year  . August Catalina, September Lake Powell and October Santa Barbara. I'm also cruise leader for the Oceanside Yacht Club and we're doing a week at Catalina in July. Looks like I'll be on the water a lot this summer. I'd like to fit the Delta in somewhere but I guess that will have to wait.

I actually prefer fresh water (Powell, Colorado River, Delta), but I live close to Catalina and it's a pretty nice place, so.....

I suppose with that many trips planned, something could come along to change one, but it looks good so far.

This is the first C-Dory cruise that Dell and I have attended. We plan to visit the Channel Islands prior to our visit to the Isthmus. We plan to be there 8/17 departing 8/23. We purchased our C-Dory 25 in August 2007 and have plenty of questions to ask the more experienced owners. Is someone making a group reservation for the front line of the moorings or will we all make our own arrangements?

See you there.

Steve and Dell

Steve,
Although they have, only recently, started taking reservations, we will be arriving on Monday--- after the weekend crowd has left. We have not had any trouble in the past getting mooring in the string line. The usually group us together.
There will be a couple of us arriving on Sunday after noon, cruising down from Channel Islands Harbor. The rest will cruise over from MdR on Monday.
