what time on Sat. for the potluck?????????

Good morning Roger (and everyone else),

Potluck on Saturday should be about 5 pm.....have to check with Lee (he's getting the key to the Squalicum Yacht Club) to see what time we can get in to set up the tables and chairs.

Roger, Nice of you to be thinking about us at 12:30 am..... :)

Another update....The reserved signs for the C-Dorys have been attached to the pilings located at P dock.

And....we're suppose to have some really awesome weather.

And.... just up the street from Gate 9/P dock is the LFS Marine Store. They've got a huge outdoor tent sale going on....can't say how much will be left by the time the C-Brats get here. There was a lot of action when we stopped by there today...crab pots, shrimp pots, clothing, gloves, fishing poles, just lots of stuff on sale. They're open 8-6 Monday through Friday; 9-5 Saturday. Address: 851 Coho Way, B'Ham

And...don't forget an extra fender in case it's needed for rafting.

See you soon.

Ruth & Joe/R-MATEY

We'll be arriving some time Friday, with the keg of Snoqualmie Haystack Hefeweizen. David will be coming either Friday night or Saturday morning with the dispensing equipment. As always, we ask that the folks who enjoy the beer take turns buying ice to be sure the keg is well iced down. To comply with Port regs, I think the keg may have to be onboard, so it will probably be on our swim step...it it is there and hooked up to the C02, you are welcome to help yourself!

OK, rub it in! Oh, would I rather be in the boat, tied to the dock with a little Haystack, or changing a blown trailer tire on the side of I-680, (the worst interstate in the world) 1/4 mile before the Benica bridge? Duh.

This was not much fun. After we got back on the road and across the bridge, we stopped at Bill's Tire, in Pacheco, CA, just north of Pleasent Hills. Hum. Bill's Tire. Could it be a side job?

Anyway, this is a lesson in having duel axel trailers. A single could have been real ugly.

Robbi

Hey Robbi, I recognize that spot. Years ago I got to know every inch of that stretch. Thats were all the locals get to sit in bumper to bumper every afternoon and have quality time with their spouses. Sorry about the tire though. Something else I learned in that stretch, California has a law against what they call "speed towing". I was apparently in too much of a hurry to get out of the Bay area.

Robbi & Cordell, Happy that all turned out well for you with that blown tire. That looks really ugly to say the least.

Pat, Thanks for bringing the keg. For the 'ice' contributors there's two places nearby to make those purchases. It's suppose to be a really warm weekend :hot :hot :hot .

More updates: Our very special Rev. DaveS will be available for christenings so be sure to let us know if you'd like to have your boat christened.

Joe called Rich Findley of Fluid Marine and invited him to join us this weekend. Rich didn't know if he'd be able to make it up here but would try.

Donna & Glenn McCrae who flew in from the East Coast will be here. Yesterday, they went on a whale watching tour out of Anacortes. Really had a good time and saw a lot of whales.

So until next time, "That's All Folks"

Ruth and Joe,

Looks like you are doing a fine job there. Just wondering which weatherman you scheduled this weekend with, :rainbow (so I can confirm the same weather for the Sequim Bay CBGT Sept 12-14) and if there was any special weather fee :note $ :note :note included :wink

Have a great time

Joe and Ruth,

As I PMed earlier, Pingu's starboard motor was acting up. The mechanic looked at it and thinks it was simply a loose connection causing the alarm to go off. Since I've been accused of having a couple of loose screws, I'm going to take his word for it and go for it. The clan and I are coming up. Unfortunately, we can't leave on Friday as hoped because of work commitments. We will be leaving early Saturday.

Since this is my first time boating to Bellingham and since I'm motoring up the entire way from Edmonds, is there a preferred route? Any suggestions?

Pingu is a good boat and the weather looks nice so Admiralty Inlet and the Strait of Juan de Fuca is a possibility. Thoughts?

thanks

Sarge - good weather or not, I would still come up Saratoga Passage, pop out at Deception Pass, run up Rosario to Bellingham Channel between Cypress and Guemes, around the south end of Lummi into Bellingham Bay and you are there!

Sarge & family,

Thanks for the post. Pleased to hear that the boat's okay; that you'll be able to join us this weekend. Those are good directions from Pat. We'll see you when you get here.

Pat and Barry,

Thanks for the advice guys. :thup I'm not one to ask for advice just to ignore it.

Pingu and crew will be traveling via "Saratoga Passage, pop out at Deception Pass, run up Rosario to Bellingham Channel between Cypress and Guemes, around the south end of Lummi into Bellingham Bay."

By my estimate we're talking 80 miles each way...4-5 hours. Hopefully see you guys around 1 pm on Saturday.

Harvey & Deena,

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, the weatherman is finally on our side, looks like there's going to be lots of :hot :hot :hot

Wish that you could be here but we'll just have to settle for seeing you at the Sequim CBGT. May the friendly skies and calm seas be there for all of us next month.

Another update on B'Ham: For those interested in vintage airplanes there was an article in yesterday's B'Ham Herald about the Heritage Flight Museum at B'Ham International Airport. There'll be an open house on Saturday, August 16 from noon to 4 pm, located in its new smaller quarters adjacent to its former home at 2000 W. Bakerview Road. Admission is by donation. More info on the their website at www.heritageflight.org/admin_&_navigati ... s_main.htm

I don't know if this website works as I didn't check it out.

For those of you who have made reservations for dinner at Anthony's, an ad in the B'Ham Herald stating that there's an early bird special for $18.95. Only good from 4-6 pm, Monday through Friday. Don't know if they're still offering the ling cod with the sour cream/dill sauce, but that's my favorite (and has always been just so delicious :thup

Well, we're heading down to the port office. Will launch R-MATEY later this morning. Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. If I've missed anyone with the gate & restroom codes, either pmail me or check in the port office when you arrive, 360-676-2542. We should be around the dock most of the day.

Ruth and Joe,

Dee and I will be leaving Vancouver late tonight or early on Saturday for the B-Ham gathering and then continue with a few days in the San Juans/Gulf Islands on our way up to Princess Louisa for a total of almost two weeks. So we will see you on Saturday.

Don and Dee

If anyone at the Bellingham CBGT has an LG Venus cell phone, could we please borrow the charger for a couple of hours? Tory left her charger in Salt Lake and could use some pick-me-up in it.

Thanks,
Warren

C-Dorys are beginning to arrive at P Dock :thup Larry & Cathy (C-YA); Ken & Lynn (WOODDUCK) of Bend, OR; Al & Karen of Prineville, OR. They have a cute 16 named G.S. LOLLIPOP.

Also at P Dock for a short time was PLAYIN HOOKY out of Oregon. The boat has been sold to Randy and is going to Juneau, Alaska.

There was another C-Dory visitor overnight in B'Ham. Boat's name is MERCY out of San Pedro. They only signed up for one night (14th) so they're already gone. If anyone see them out there in the San Juans and has an opportunity to contact them, please tell them that they need to contact the Port Office in B'Ham @360-676-2542 as they forgot to sign and date their check.

We're very pleased with the good weather we're having :thup :thup

Just in case anyone is looking for us....we didn't make it! :( The starboard motor kept acting up... water temp fluctuating from 145-197 degress F (up and down) constantly. It most likely is a sensor or wire but I didn't want to push it for 160 miles.

Hope everyone has fun. Wish we were there!!!!

-Sarge and crew.

For all of those coming out to "play" in the Gulf Islands afterwards, we are currently in Deer Harbor going to Prevost and will keep the water warm for y'all.
