07/27 - 07/29 - Comox, Vancouver Island, BC Gathering

Pat and Patti on Daydream, Jan on C-Change, along within
Garry and Vickie on their new Ranger just got into Ladysmith for the day and night. Great facility with new free showers and wi-fi. Heading to Nanimo in the morning and proceeding north.

Kerri on launched yesterday pacific playgrounds rv near black creek. Good ramp nice marina and facilities. Crappy wx forecast to cross the strait this am. Could see big bumpy horizon. After breakfast etc looked better so we got out for Desolation sound. Great for 5 miles then got the 20 nw radio was yakking about. 2-3 ft moderate. Kinda sloppy at 10 knots to keep down the bangs. Been cool. Dinghy lost air decided to start wandering around up there. Handed off to Carolyn for a bit to resecure. Vest on out I go. All done back to it. Bit rougher than I want to see for C who is pretty new. She got a bit quesy but we stopped near Cortes at Twin islands in a nook for a rest. I am heading for Copelands while C naps. Even when there is more weather than is comfortable, the cd gets the job done. Pleasant in the lee. Those folks coming across the strait to Comox, do be aware it is an open body of water with long fetch. It can kick your butt. Sketchy wind for a few days predicted. Be safe. George and Carolyn

David,

Which Marina are you at, LMS or Fishermans Wharf?

We might stop by there also.

Merv

PS take a picture of Pat at dock. It's rare and might be valuable one day

We are at Ladysmith Maritime Society Marina.

Read about our first five days here.

Thanks Pat,

Great blog. Ladysmith has been on our list for a while but we always seem to pass by.
Might give it a try a try this week now that you have warmed up the water.

Hi Gang,

We have had 4 drop out recently but still have 22 registered to attend. It will be a lot of fun and the weather is going to be ggggggggreat.
Message from the wharfinger: Your primary tie up is D finger (as mentioned earlier on page 5). If D gets full up and you don't want to raft up, go to the R/H side of F finger. That keeps everyone together or as close together as possible.
I will be wandering around the dock Thurs afternoon and most of Friday. Remember to meet at the totem pole on Friday, 5pm, for complimentary refreshments and pick up your info package if I have not already given you one.

See you soon.

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Well, we're almost there....Naniamo is our home tonight. SUSAN E hailed us on the radio as we pass through Montague. Sure do appreciate all of your work putting this event together.
Sincerely,
Ruth and Joe

Wow! You're right behind us, that's great :D Just realized that it's been over 3 years now since we were all together in Victoria. Hi Roger. There are two places for fuel. The downtown port marina and a gas n go in the channel. Both pretty convenient but don't have prices for them. Bc stations don't seem to compete on price. See you tomorrow. We will cross this eve from powell river. George
