Hi All,

I am a new Brat, but keen to jump in and get both feet wet.
I am sounding you out to see what interest there is in a C-Brat gathering in July 2012. Location is Comox, Vancouver Island, BC. We are situated halfway up Vancouver Island, on the East coast in the Georgia Straight.
My house is waterfront in a protected bay. Great anchorage in a gentle sloping bottom of firm sand and mud (no rocks) right outside my home. You can dry out and walk up to my lawn where we will hold the BBQ and social gathering. Or stay in deeper water and row ashore. Kids and pets most welcome. For those of you who have been at sea for 24 hrs or longer and are smelling a little ripe, the shower and bathroom in my home are at your disposal. Those not keen on anchoring, a government dock with ample visitors space is just 200 meters away. One of the finest sandy beaches in BC is right on my door step, fabulous swimming, at Goose Spit.
For those of you who will combine this gathering with a summer cruise, we are just one hour away from the gateway to Desolation Sound and even lesser time to the Sunshine Coast and Northern Gulf Islands.
If you have never been to Comox before, you have been missing out. We are the "Village By The Sea", and every amenity imaginable is just a few minutes walk from your boat.
If I get 6 or more boats interested in participating, then "it's a go".
Please email me back on the C-Brat forum. Express your preferred weekend in July, and I will go with the majority wishes regarding the dates.

Jan and Stacy on C-Change are interested. We usually start our summer cruise after the Bellinham gathering. Next year Tom and Susan have agreed to host that gathering in La Conner on the weekend of July 20. I suspect it will be well attended so a lot of C-Brats will be out and about. We vote for the following weekend on July 27th. We have not been north of Naniamo and think this would be a great opportunity to expand our horizons. :D We are open to other dates that don't conflict with the La Conner gathering.

I have been to Comox several times. Once, I cruised up alone and a good friend flew in via float plane and I picked him up in the bay. Another time I spent a couple of days there and really enjoyed the town and marina.

Great place and I would love to come back. Have to check with the admiral (that is ADMIRAL) about next year. I am not working the Fleet Captain job next year so I/we can do some boating of our own. This sounds like a great cruise/destination. And kitty will be coming too.(she speaks Canadian, Meow,, meow,, Aye...
 
Hi Martin count Kerri On in. I've put on a couple BC gatherings and you are going to get a lot more than 6 boats. First one we had in Nanaimo had over 20. Fun time. We'll be there, in July just pick the date. We'll be crusing the sunshine coast and then on to the Broughtons by then. Look forward to it. :smiled
 
Wild Blue plans to be in the area then, I will let him speak for himself, but the crew of Willie's Tug would like to try to make it during our summer cruising. Keep us on the list for now. Thanks
 
Positive replies guys, looks like it's gonna be a go. I will wait awhile longer for other replies to come in, then select the date and let you know (probably in 10 days or so). This is going to be fun.

Thanks for offering to host a Comox get-together. Hoping to have Blue Skies in the Nanaimo area late July and would love to cruise up there. Will confirm when we are closer to the date.

martin we will be there as you are only 5 miles away. haha! we will be more than happy to help with whatever you need. maybe if the thatch is open on hornby we could all go for a cruise over there one of the days? will see you soon, i want to see your new baby.

Great replies, I'm glad the interest is there in getting together and having fun. When you get your new 2012 C-Brat calendar, I want you to write in the following. Saturday, July 28th, 2012, C-Brat gathering, Comox, BC.

BTW. I am a Port Commissioner for Skagit County. If the group is thinking about running the Swinomish Channel on the way north to Comox, let me know. I might be able to get the harbor master at the La Conner Marina to do something for us.
