07/24 - 07/26 - Bellingham, WA CBGT

My mother fell in the sunroom yesterday and it was several hours before someone found her. As a result we have to rethink our plans for providing care for her while we are gone. We may have to move her to assisted living, at least temporarily.

What this means for the Brats is that we will be driving up to Bellingham on Saturday to hang out on the dock and attend the potluck. We hope to get Mom's care settled in time for us to leave on Tuesday for Nanaimo. We probably will not go further north than Desolation Sound this year (sorry, Roger and Janet!) but hope to do the Broughtons next year (but given our track record you would be justified in looking at that promise with suspicion!)

See you Saturday!
Warren

Hi Dan and Tanya,

Bellingham is easy. There is a big parking lot at the ramp. Pay for your launch by machine and then self-register for the dock space with the envelopes provided. No need to go to the marina office.

Hope that helps.

And for Joe and Ruth - sorry we won't make this event, but know that we're thinking of you. Tell everyone at the gathering that the Wild Blue Crew says "Hi, and we'll see you next year." Have a great gathering!

Best wishes,
Jim

Tanks Jim for the Bellingham insights. Greatly appreciate the tip.

BTW, always enjoy reading your Wild Blue adventures. My wife and her family are from west Texas (not so beautiful Midland/Odessa area) which seems to have more boats - usually bass boats - and less water then anyplace I have ever been.

Warren, sorry to hear about your mother. Hope you and Lori can get things under control and we do indeed see you at the potluck.

Looking forward to seeing folks we know and those we have yet to meet!

Take care,
Dan & Tanya

Jim, Appreciate the added info about our marina. You said it all in just a couple of sentences...much better than what Joe refers to as my police report.

Thanks too for thinking of us. We had hoped you'd surprise us by showing up in the PNW this summer. Weather is so nice this year that you wouldn't have to wear long trousers or use the rain gear.

Looking forward to seeing you, Joan & Izzy next year.

so i was just informed at work that this weekend will be the African Fireworks display in Vancouver. they do a number of these trade shows for fireworks for all to view and purchase for thier respective cites. i have to say being raised the dreaded californian, and happily displaced , where fireworks were more illegal than weed/pot .....it is a shock how much fireworks there are. it is exciting!!!

so we should be able to see them from bellingham. ( I think.......) We were in bellingham harbor a year two two ago with tom parents on the 4th and saw the fireworks from ??? the arch?/ blaine?? let me know if you think i am way off base.

Susan, Not so sure that you'll be able to see the Vancouver fireworks from Bellingham. From the house (500' elevation) there's a big hill in the way and my dynamite permit expired several years ago so the hill has to stay....as far as seeing anything from the marina, it's hard to say what can be seen from down there....what time do they do fire off this stuff up there in BC? See you this weekend.

Ruth (and Joe, too)

P dock is one big long dock. We did do some rafting when the numbers were pushing 40 boats. Here's a good overhead view. P dock is the longer of the 2 marked visitor.

Looking forward to meeting you there.

Roger,

Thanks for posting the excellent overhead view of the harbor.

Indeed. Having never been there before, it helps a lot.

P Dock? Don't worry Mark, you can't miss it. It's the long dock in front with C-Dory after C-Dory lined up all in a row. It's quite a site!

I have been a spectator at all of this and hope I haven't signed up late but I think I would like to meet this group and see your boats and share your experiences. I love my Dory and have a few fish tails to share. looking forward to some advice on dish for pot-luck etc. see you all at P-Dock

welcome wodeworker60
as far as advise for pot luck!!!!!!
whatever you wish to bring. there is never a shortage of whatever at one of our gatherings.something that is easy to transport or heat up or keep cold. pot luck is just that....lol.... lucky to get what we get

I will probably bring a cooler full of crab again.

Wodeworker60,
Welcome to C-Brat country and to the CBGT (C-Brat Get Together) at Bellingham, and future ones, (Like Sequim Bay CBGT in Sept). It's great to see and meet new folks, share ideas and stories, and good times. We are looking forward to this event too, first time there for us. Come and enjoy.

I had a very nice woman here at the shop yesterday looking at our used 22 Cruiser, and she and her friend will probably stop by the event to talk boats. Her name is Louise, and she and her friend are very interetested in the C-Dory product line.

I told her she would be warmly welcomed, and might (might!) be able to get a boat ride from someone to see how the ride of the 22 Cruiser was.

Stay cool up there guys!

 Knowing the layout is beneficial though. I was gonna look it up on my cruising guide, but that nice overhead is now printed as a backup.

Well gang...hope you don't mind Amy and I signing up last minute and showing up late on Friday night.

We are leaving tomorrow around 4 pm or so and it will probably put us there to launch any where from 9-midnight. Can't wait!!!! And we're bringing our 4 legged kid...Teddi. She is VERY EXCITED to meet everyone!!!

Safe travels to all...

John

In the boat (16) at twin bridges spending a beautiful
evening. Brillant sunset, rainbow and some unexpected
rain. Will head out in the am and maybe crab on the way.
Thanks for pm Ruth. Cordell may fly up on sat.
This is the life!

OK, I grabbed a keg of Summer Beer, our "Pre-Prohibition Pilsner brewed alt-style" - I will see if David can bring the CO2 and cobra-head, if not I have to disassemble a beer fridge this morning so we will be able to get the elixir out of the shell...usual deal, we ask that all those who partake take turns contributing ice so it stays nice and cold! Without Byrdman it may be tough to drain the sucker, but please do your best! Or just maybe Patrick will show up and he and Roger can tackle that task one more time together!

AIS to B'ham from Fall City in 10 minutes. If you see a Hyundai Tucson towing a yellow 1971 VW bug SLOWLY up I-5 north of Everett, honk, because that will be us! Cell phone is charged and AAA card is in the front of my wallet just in case!
