07/24 - 07/26 - Bellingham, WA CBGT

I'd love to include this in our summer cruising plans. Right now I'm hoping to make it. I had my pre-op yesterday and the recovery will be a minimum of 8 weeks which will put me well into August, so we'll see. It's more an issue of launch/recovery etc than the actual cruising time on the boat.

If it were me, I'd have someone launch it for me, throw me in the boat and when the 8 weeks convalescing period ends, I'd be able to load the boat back on the trailer by myself.

Best wishes on the surgery. Unfortunately, I'm unable to participate in the B'Ham gathering as I have duties to do with Aqua Fest the same weekend. However if I can help you launch anytime give me a call and I'll try to help out.

Mahalo Dave. I like your idea of spending 8 weeks on the boat. I wonder if I could just return to Everett for my post op check ups, leave the boat at the visitor's dock and drive up the hill? :? On a serious note, if I have someone with me that could assist it could be done. It's a lot of boat for my petite wife Meredith to launch/recover. I'll see how it goes and how I feel once the date nears. Sorry you won't be there, but previous commitments are just that. Aloha...

Ugh...I really, really wanted to attend this.

Talk about crummy timing. We've a fishing trip in Sitka already planned from July 23-28.

We won't be completely without Brat pals though...I'll shout the howdy to Chivita Dave for all of you while up there, and I'm sure we'll raise a glass or three in all of your honor.

OK... so....maybe a second gathering....in Bellingham....say....around 29Jan-6Feb 2010....or one of those weekends.... particuarly with the new owners of the C-Dory plant now being in the area??

Maybe we could get a shuttle for a day down at the show??.. or not... and just enjoy each others company...

My wife just confirmed she got off of work so we'll be there! Don't have any exact plans yet but as it nears we'll lock down our lauch etc.

Questions about BHam parking etc.

We will attend the BHam CBG and then head north to Sullivan Bay BC. We normally launch at Blaine and have realitives care for truck and trailer. My questions are: how secure is the parking in BHam, is there a problem with parking for 3 weeks, do we need to reserve a slip on P dock and is anyone else heading north after the event?

Gene

Have the new 50 on the back after the last one died, looking forward to a gathering, have not participated for awhile...

Dan and Jan will be there with there Usual Huge Boat!

See Ya All Soon....Nine Inches

:cocktail :teeth

If anyone is planning to travel up to Bellingham by boat on Friday 7/24 and passing Everett on the way, please let me know if Dotty and I can follow along on Lizzie. (We have heard that there is land north of Coupeville but have been hesitant to believe it as reliable sources insist that the world ends there.)

Long term parking at Squalicum Harbor has not appeared to be a problem for several of our C-Dory/Ranger boaters.

One launch & retrieve is $5.00 and this includes the parking fee. Short term parking is usually on the black topped area. Long term parking is across the street in the unpaved area.

Parking for over five days will require you to check in with the Squalicum Harbor Port office located at 722 Coho Way (just around the corner from LFS & BoonDocks where the Sea Sports are sold).

Short term parking only requires you to obtain a parking permit from the machine located near the launching area. This payment machine BTW will not accept the 'new' $5 bills.

You won't need to call in for reservations if you plan on joining us at P Dock which has been reserved for the C-Brats. We have approx. 570' of dock & rafting is permitted. No one is assigned a space at the dock. Just show up & tie up (and don't go anywhere if you want to keep your space at the dock).

We'll have envelopes available for moorage fees.

For anyone wishing to rent an individual slip, please call the Squalicum Harbor Port Office @ 360-676-2542.

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel close to the marina? We may need it for extra accomodations.

:)

The Rodeway Inn located @ 3710 Meridian Street, B'Ham has given us the following information concerning their rates: For one bed/2 people the rate is $74.95 per night. Phone #360-738-6000 or 1-800-476-5413. The EconoLodge at 3750 Meridian Street based on 1 bed/2 people is $84.99 per night. Phone #360-671-4600. These two motels are about 2.3 miles from the marina.

The Hotel Bellwether located next to the marina is another option. Call 1-877-411-1200 for rates (and have your heart surgeon on standby)

A shuttle service is available from the marina to and from points of interest. The shuttle service starts about 10 am until 6 pm. Phone #360-676-2542.

ANOTHER B'HAM CBGT UPDATE

Summer moorage rates for Port of Bellingham/Squalicum Harbor have been increased to .75 per foot. Minimum charge is $18.00 per day for any vessel 24 or under.

All vessels are required to register upon arrival by completing an envelope & depositing it in the drop box locations at either Gate 3, Gate 12 or the Harbor Center Bldg.

Permission must be obtained from the administration staff for any stay over three days.

All restroom facilities are locked at 10 pm & open at 6:30 am. Gates are locked at dusk. For entry, contact 676-2542 or 739-8131 & inform the Security Guard of your location.

Note to C-Brats, we will already have the restroom & gates codes which I will endeavor to PM to you prior to your arrival.

See you soon :D

R-Matey Ruth and Jo, you just do such a fabulous job with this now yearly Bellingham gig. It's big, and a lot of work. I know we all feel very grateful and fortunate to have you answer oodles o' questions, work out logistics and explain in detail how this event will transpire.

By the way, Barry and Patty, you did the same for us at Friday Harbor, a chart-busting bash we'll all long remember.

Bambina and I thank you all very much.

Hi Brats :D

We've got 16 days left until the B'Ham CBGT. We decided it was time to give the new owners of C-Dory a personal invitation to our CBGT. So we drove over to Sea Sport this morning and met with Jeff Lindhout. A handsome young man who was more than happy to meet his first C-Brats. Hopefully, his schedule will allow him to attend some part of our gathering. He has visited the C-Brats website and is very impressed with how friendly and courteous we are...he even mentioned the C-Brat motto 'No Rules, Just be Nice"

Orders for C-Dorys are already coming in :thup

P.S. Thanks Catman for all the kind words. You did a great job at Langley :lips :lips
