07/16 - 07/18 - Blakely Island

Do not know the definitive answer here...have only crossed at Blaine and the 8th Ave border crossing in a car. All the info you need about where the customs docks are and their phone numbers is in Waggoner, if you don't have that head straight to West Marine and pick it up. I would be prepared with EITHER a passport OR picture ID (driver's license) and proof of citizenship (birth certificate) - better to have them and not need them than the other way around!

Hi all,
When we were vacationing in your state last summer (headquartered in Sequim) we wanted to try the ferry from Port Angeles to Vancover for the same trip.
Were told that you'd need Passport or Birth Certificate...and a Photo ID such as a drivers license.

Have to go ...waiting for 6 - 8 inches of snow back here in PA tonite.

PS: hope to be back this summer!

We crossed from the San Juans into Canada last summer. We entered at Port Sydney Marina. The procedure is to enter the marina and tie up at the Customs dock( its marked). Then take your information and call on the special Customs phone on the dock. If you are in compliance,(US citizens with documents, not too much liquor or cigarettes, etc.)they will probably check you in by phone. They assign you a number to enter in your log. Thats it! You can then go on to your destination or get a guest dock.
We have entered at Port Sydney many times. They have never come down to our boat, but they can come down to your boat and do an inspection.
If you bring firearms, Customs will come to you to inspect your boat and guns.
 
One thing to remember is only the skipper can leave the vessel until you have cleared customs and that's only to talk to customs. It's about $1,000 fine if you do.
 
Now let' see...what is that in Canadian? About $580? :wink:

I called the Blakely Island Marina today and signed up for our slip for two nites. I asked if there were many signed up yet and she told me that I was the 5th boat to sign up so far.
that surprised me somewhat as I figured I was actualy late on signing in.
Lets Get goin Guys....lol.....
HMMMMMM, if there is only 5 boats, just think how much beer will be available for me.....lol...lol....
 
Any idea what the dates would be for the Blakely Island trip in 2005? July 16-17? 3rd weekend of July? We need to start planning now -- hoping to come up next year and have the factory fix some stress cracks in the gell coat and cruise the San Juans. Possible travel up with Joel and Sue (SEA3PO) and Mike (Sealife)
Need to get a schedule set for vacation time and factory time.
 
OK, I need a little help here. I'm getting ready to give Norma a call to get on the slip reservation list. We most likely won't make it to Blakely till Saturday morning since Judy has payroll to do before we hit the road which for us is at least 5 hours from here. What I'm wondering is how many folks stay over at Blakely on Sunday night or if the lights are out and the party's over. We're going to motor around for the rest of the week but don't know when to head out. What are others planning?

Tim, most people head out on Sunday after breakfest. Last year more than a few people stayed in the Islands after Sunday. Robbin and I will be staying, we are planning to head over to the Gulf Islands for some of that time.

Just spoke with Norma at Blakely Island General Store. She prefers we call her at (360)375-6121 to make reservations. This, she says, is mostly so she will know where to put people when we arrive. For example, she can dock two 16's in a 40' slip if she has an idea of who's coming.

There'll be room for all of us, I'm sure. I told her to expect about 25 C-Dorys. We can pay her when we arrive.
 
Okay, just registered for Blakely. Slip C-8 will be where some of the beer will be. Thinking Copperhead Pale Ale and our summer seasonal, cleverly named Summer Beer. Pat will bring one and I the other.

Not so far if you consider that your an ODD number and I am an even number. You should be just across from us , not down the way. BTW I have your pen/pencil holder put together.

Actually, the odd and even numbers are on the same side at the Blakely Marina. Sharing the same main dock but across from you would be the "D" numbers. (Looks like some of you will have to walk :crook or crawl :wink to the keg).

C-Puffin....you're the lucky one...you'll be next to the keg :thup .
 
I have one of the kegs, and I don't have a slip number yet! I called and left a message on their answering machine, name, phone number, boat name and length - no call back. I have called half a dozen times, never got through to Norma. Will try again today I guess.

Actually, if David on Anna Leigh is in C-8, you are in C-9 and I on Daydream am in C-10, and these guys don't use Reverse Polish Slip Numbering or something, you are actually in the MIDDLE of the beer! And remind Winston - OSCAR IS NOT SNACK FOOD!!!!
