Dave,

I wished I had made it up there if for no other reason than to see the Marinaut (of course seeing all the brats would have been nice too). Once you've got the boat ready for a cruise, come on up to Seattle via water and we'll do lunch. Also, if you want to demonstrate that it catches fish, I'm sure that Tom and I would be all too happy to go out and get some fish blood splattered all over it.
Roger – it will be my pleasure. However it may be hard to get Tom off his 27.

A boat isn’t truly christened until it has fish guts on it and I know his 27 has been christened more than once so maybe he will help with the Marinaut. But first I have a tentative date for a test cruise with my favorite C-Brat and she is prettier than you guys and I suspect is also a better fisherman.

Let me know what your agent says.

Robbi strikes again! Robbi is definitely better looking. She's probably also more talented when it comes to fishing but I don't think she's a better fisherMAN. Fisherwoman for sure, fisherperson yes, but unless she has an operation I think Tom and I can hold on to the better fisherman title.

Thanks everyone...Amy, Teddi (chocolate labradoodle) and I enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones!!!

We made it home back to Portland on Sunday night...sure wish we were joining others on week or longer cruise.

Safe Boating to all and we look forward to seeing you again, hopefully on the water!!!

John

WOW! What a great weekend. I feel like the mother hen who has watched her chicks leave the nest.

We just want to let all of you know that we appreciate your attendance and your friendship. Each and everyone of you is special to us. We miss those folks who wanted to be here but for other reasons were unable to make it. Thanks to everyone for all your help as we couldn't have done it without you.

A MOST SPECIAL THANKS to Jeff Lindhout for opening up the factory on Saturday and giving us a tour. Thanks to those C-Brats who offered their vehicles so everyone that wanted to attend were able to have transportation to the factory.

Russ and Toni, thank you for being so gracious for giving tours all weekend of your beautiful new Ranger 27. David & Pat, thank you for bringing the keg. Barry & Patti, as usual you outdid youselves. Thank you for the photo of R-Matey on her maiden voyage to Langley. That is indeed a very special photo and will always hold special memories for us. Dave, thanks for bringing the Marinaut to B'Ham for everyone to climb aboard and be a part of the experience. Larry and Nancy, thanks for providing the 'lea' with the Jacari Maru. The banner looked great and could be seen from across the marina. Jim and Marti, thanks for towing the C-IDAHO over to B'Ham for your very first CBGT. Larry & Cathy (C-YA). We love your new puppy, Ginger. So much fun watching the other C-Brat dogs, too. Some real hilarious moments.

Thanks to the 'Sneaky Pete' in the crowd who picked up the tab for our breakfast on Sunday morning. That was a so nice of you.

I did a tally of the boats attending:
3 Ranger Tugs
1 West Coast 46
1 Marinaut 21.5
1 37 Puget Trawler
(6) 25 C-Dorys
(12) 22 C-Dorys
(1) 27 CD
(1) 23 Venture

Boatless Brats:
(1) 16CD
(1) 19 CD
(1) 22/25 CD (Roger & Beth)
(2) 22 CD
(1) Rossborough.

What a wonderful group of folks :thup

Lastly, we want to mention Pete Cleland who would have joined us for this event if he hadn't passed away in June. Pete was found on the dock beside his Ranger 29. His dog Sporty was waiting in the cockpit for permission to leave the boat. Pete would have loved all of you and you would have loved him, too, What a character. Rest in Peace, Pete.

Roger – I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you here. A fisherman or fisher is someone who captures fish and other animals from a body of water, or gathers shellfish. Worldwide, there are about 38 million commercial and subsistence fishermen and fish farmers. The term can also be applied to recreational fishermen and may be used to describe both men and women. Fishing has existed as a means of obtaining food since the Mesolithic period.

According to your logic a word ending in man is male. If that is the case then there are no such thing as a mature female because she is also a woMAN. I know the progressives want to change the meaning of much of the English language but I am old enough to know better and refuse to accept it. You can look at a woMAN as a male but I still see a feMale. So even if she has not had an operation, she could still be a better fisherMAN.

Now I never mentioned a name here and you are assuming it is a particular person but with more than 5000 people registered on this site it could be someone else. Now before you challenge me on the 5000 number, think about it for a while.

I am looking forward to our lunch and cruise.

Dave, thanks for saying something that needed to be said. I am a liberal in most respects but when it comes to the English language I am definitely in the conservative camp!

Warren – thank you and while I agree, I really don’t want to make this into a political or even controversial topic. Roger and I are just poking fun at each other and having fun at the others expense. I am sure he even agrees with me about the definition of a fisherman. He just wanted to get a dig into me and posted his comment without giving it much thought. We all do that.

I call foul! I just read some past posts. There were some DEFINITE political inferences, phrases, philosphies & beliefs mentioned, written, postged and read.

Gravy for the goose is gravy for the gander after all. I expect you all will be banished from this site shortly or I will file a formal protest.

OK, just retrieved at Bellingham and back in Birch Bay for the weekend. Going to start a new thread called "After Bellingham," with pix. Wow, what a great week! Crusing with Traveler then hanging out on Chris and Janet's dock on Center Island...film at 11!

A very special thanks to Joe & Ruth. You are the BEST. You go WAY over and above what might be expected form normal humans. I appreciate all you do to pull off the Bellingham weekend.
Our plans were to spend three weeks on the boat after Bellingham and end our vacation at the Montigue Hbr. CBGT. Our plans changed.
After a week in the San Juans with our boys, Dave & Jake, and a second week in the Gulf Islands by ourself. Tuesday morning I asked Ann if she was ready to go home. We were both tired, running out of food and clean clothes. So we left Cowichen about 10:30, spent an hour at "Roach" Hbr, and landed back at Bellingham around 5pm.
After a long drive home and prospect of unpacking and cleaning the boat, I'm very glad to sleep in my own bed.
I'm looking forward to next year.
