07/10 - 07/14 - James River Cruise 2014

FREEDOM,
Yes, we could make our own clown skit if we could fit all of the traveling Brats in the cabin, when the WX turns bad. Mr. Bean would be proud of our accomplishments...

Steve: As a belated reply to your June 6 request for suggestions for a place to raft up, you might want to consider Morris Creek, which is the first creek on the port side after the Rt 5 bridge at the entrance to the Chickahominy. If you know how to get in, which I do, you can enter even at low tide, and go upstream past the boat ramp where there are several well protected sites for a raft.

If the preference is to raft upriver from the marinas, there are lots of places which we could use, most off to the side of the main channel.

Looking forward to the trip.

David

Steve:

Just spoke with Rivers Rest to confirm slip rates ($2/ft), and the fellow with whom I spoke said that they had our reservations for last weekend. Think they're off by a month. I told him the plans are for the nights of JULY 12 and 13, but you might want to followup to be sure they're set, and that the restaurant has the right info.

For whatever it's worth, they also quoted a $10 launch fee, and no charge for parking if I splashed a day early, and then stayed for two nights. So, probably makes sense for me to launch there, spend a night at anchor on either the Chickahominy or a James River creek, and then meet up with the group as discussed earlier, spending the Sat and Sun nights at Rivers Rest.

David

David,
Thanks for pointing out the issue with River Rest. I have called Alton and reconfirmed the planned mooring dates again. I'm not sure why Alton logged the incorrect dates, as I was very specific with him, as well as with the restaurant.
Steve

Steve and Joan.
It looks like my schedule is worked out this year. If their is still room on the Baum dock for Thursday evening we would love to attend the evening's events. Joan what can I bring to the dinner or help you with?

Erma
Munchkin

Steve, I would Ike to inquire about dock space as well. Mary and I hope to pull into Portsmouth on Thursday, launching at the park. If space allows we would like to use your dock Thursday night, and also store our SUV and trailer at your property like we did during the Loop cruise - if that is possible.

Rob

If you do have room, Delfin would also like to tie up at your dock. We will be there for the captains meeting. :) Looking forward to the cruise. : :thup Delfin

We have dock space for both Munchkin and Freedom, and others, for Thursday night. No need to bring anything for Thursday's dinner. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Joan and Steve

Neal,
Please feel free to use the dock and we look forward to seeing you for dinner on Thursday with the c-Brats.

Calling all C-Brats
As stated previously, Joan & Steve will be hosting a dinner at our home the night before we begin this trip (7/10/14 at 5 PM). All C-Brats are welcome, even if you will not be able to make the voyage, we and other Brats would enjoy having you attend.
All C-Brats are welcome to moor at our dock and begin and end the trip from our dock in Portsmouth, VA.
If you plan to moor here and or leave your rig here, please give us a little advance notice and we will help you launch your boat at the local (free) ramp and transport you back to our home to store your rig.
Additionally, Joan would like to get some feedback if you plan to dine with us on the evening before the trip.
Best regards,
Joan & Steve Baum

PANDY GIRL,
We both hope that you are having a wonderful time and though we will certainly miss you, we know that your adventure has to be a once in a lifetime spectacular event.
Best regards
Joan & Steve

Joan & Steve,

We look forward to joining the group for dinner Thursday night and greatly appreciate the opportunity. We would like to assist in any way possible so please let us know what we can do. As for docking, this morning I reconfirmed our plan and all looks to be on track. We plan to launch at the park on Thursday, and will probably pull the boat Monday afternoon after we get back. Thus, we would plan to stay at your dock Thursday, with our SUV and trailer stored there till Monday. Thanks Steve!

Rob
