07/02 - 07/03, Naked Island, Alaska

Greg, we'll look the Red Fox, pirate flag or not. I'm setting in Valdez right now. We took a short run out to Sawmill bay and it was kind of neat. 3 C-Dory's from Fairbanks were in the bay........no other boats.
3rd Byte, DogOnDory and Lee Ann a new 25'er.

Weather is nice and hopefully will stay.

See Ya!

Yeah, moving is a bugger!

Yeah it's always amusing to see another C-Dory when on the water

Still can't give a possible answer yet. I'll be at the last moment if I show or not  :cigar :xtongue

How's the king fishin been there @ Valdez :)

Ok....Sounds Goooood, coffee and burgers are particularly enticing. Curious......are those 1/4# or Alaskan (1/2#ers). Paige's burgers and DogOnDan's specially formulated Kona Express, WOW..such a deal!

For anyone coming down, I am staying at #11 at the Bayside RV Park in Valdez and 3rd Byte is in slip F-18. As Dan noted we will be ready to depart the harbor at 8:00AM Saturday the 2nd of July. Come on down/over and give us a shout. I'm going to be here all week.

Hey Greg, you wiley 'ole fox, you can come without the pirate flag. We won't think you've gone soft on us. Maybe a little strange....but never soft.

OK... if I maker, I won't be ashamed without the flags on :embarrased
DGD: Nice pic of new-baby :smilep and thanx for the note  but I still ain't givin out my fishin-info  :?

Bad news for catdogcat..

While fishing in Halibut Cove Lagoon last Saturday I messed up and hit a gravel bar.
Wasted my prop and bent my prop shaft on the new Yamaha. :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry . The boat is now sitting at Kachemak Gear Shed awaiting parts and a spendy repair. Had to get towed back to Homer. Luckily my Uncle was there to save my butt. I told them to Fed Ex the parts but it's unlikely that I 'll have it back in time for the Naked trip. :cry This is really disappointing when I really wanted to meet all you guys and show off all the mods I've done.
I hope you guys will take lots of pictures for me to look at and cry myself to sleep to.

I'll be posting some pics of the wasted prop soon for your laughing enjoyment.

It is looking like the Sundog Crew will be showing up along with a non C-Dory boat - a Sea Sport - will he survive?

I am hoping to be heading out of Whittier this Thursday in the afternoon and will go to Naked if the weather is good, otherwise, maybe I will stop on Perry or something like that. Anyway - I should be out to Naked by Friday Night anyway.

CDC - sorry to hear about your new motor, I have almost hit bottom in Halibut Cove before.

Cheers,

Sundog Crew

CDC, sorry to hear about the mishap at Halibut Cove. Bummer! We'll have to catch you later if you're unable to make it.

Joe, it'll be good to tag up and meet you at Naked. The Sea Sport makes the cut because it's travelling in good company, but I agree with Dan, the hat is really a stretch!

Dan, the weather is great right now and I put in an order for refills of the same thru this next weekend.

Dang CDC... that's a pretty big owy :( Hope ya get it all together in time (though I may not make it still :embarrased ) arg :x

I'll be heading out of Whittier Friday evening around 7 and spend the night around Culross Island with 3 total on board. I won't be going on the Cordova run as I have a "business" meeting over near Main Bay on Sunday. Where abouts on Naked Island should we be looking Saturday?

OK - the plan is to show up Naked, at Cabin Bay on Naked about noon on Saturday?

I don't know yet whether we will leave Whittier on Saturday morning, or camp out somewhere on Friday night. Anybody out there, call for Barrel O Monkeys on 16.

We saw the coolest thing on Sunday morning - yesterday. We caught up with a black bear that was swimming from Perry Island to Culross Island. We followed him for the last quarter mile of his paddle. Neato.

Hey all,
I still don't know if the Beer:Thirty will make it. It is totally dependent on the company that shows up. I'll do my best to talk them into it. By the by, the Silvers (and whales) are in at Pony Cove. Easily limited out today and got some National Geo shots of a show off whale to boot. Company was impressed.

Pretty good anchorage in McPherson Passage over by this funny looking rock by a bunch of them durn OysterQuacker birds :crook They'll keep ya up all night
Wheels were spoutin too last week (or maybe a week and a half ago :embarrased ) 3 sharks in a row (on the surface) heading north off Story to!
I could not keep the buts off trolling through the passage out there :idea (thats gona be it fer my fish-tips :x ) they were just little-bastards though :o (20 pounders) No salmon either then .... mumble grumble me :x out... :bat

I've got a camping trip set up for this weekend and might make it out there Sunday or Monday if anyone is planning on being around? When is the scheduled end of the event? BTW the discussion came up before about fuel availability in Chenega, I talked with a gillnetter buddy that goes through there quite abit and he said there is a Tesoro station there in the village, however its a bring your gas can kinda thing. Smooth sailing, looks to be decent weather for the weekend.
Shaun
