07/02 - 07/03, Naked Island, Alaska

Sure good to see you on the site Ted, I've kept a pic of "Sea Duck" in my album anticipating your arrival.

A chance we may get into some early silvers at Naked Island. At any rate I'll have some brined herring ready to go, just in case.

I'm still trying to talk Dogon Dan into roasting a pig for the trip but he told me to get a takeout at Big Daddy's Barbecue.

Made it up the Alcan with my new C-Dory alive. I should have waited another month to pick up the new boat. It was blizzard conditions just about the whole way. Had to drive 25 mph most of the time. Still maneged to make the trip in 4 days though. I took lots of pics and am ready to start a photo album. Can anyone point me to a post with instructions?

The new boat is so cool. They look so much BIGGER in person. This is such a huge step up from my Bayliner Cuddie (For Sale). Going to Kachemak Bay this weekend for her maiden voyage. If weather permits that is..

Redfox-I guess you could consider me young..30 years old that is. Seems old to me.

DaveS-I didn't have the time to take the boat on Lake Stevens. Plus I hated pulling the C-Dory around unfamiliar streets. I suck at pulling trailers as it is. Drove strait from the storage yard to I-5 twords Alaska with white knuckles the whole way there. I wish I would have recieved your email before I left, we could of had lunch or something. The Lucky R was parked at a storage yard right next to an Elementary school on the west side of the lake. Maybe you saw it? There was also another C-dory in the same storage yard. I believe it was a 16 footer (red).

Man-0-live I'm too old for a hair-raisin-trip like that anymore :!: :( I'm glad everything went OK (it did rite :| ) I can't believe you made it in only 4-days to :xseek Awesome  I know how bad it can get on that trip, I luv it every time we go... long as I'm not pushin it.
Congrats. I'd whip-ya-up an album if I knew how to here. I'm sure the boys runin' it won't have any trouble... ARG :o :o

Glad to see you made it back in good shape. Good Job! I thought you should be rolling in about now. One thing about the "highway" during the winter. Never know what to expect and it's always different. Usually there'll be a mixture of weather because you're travelling thru different weather patterns.

Will be looking forward to seeing your pictures!

Cool! TyBoo made me a photo album. Thanks!! I'll start an Alcan folder tonight when I get home. Hopefully I'll have some Kachemak Bay pics after this weekend. Man it's cold out there right now.

Tyboo is pretty quick with those albums. We'll be looking forward to seeing your pics.

Again, Congratulations on the new boat, a welcome addition to the northernmost fleet of C-Dory's on the planet.

In terms of another highlight, Jeff Messmer and the C-Dory folks are going to provide "C-Dory Caps" for all the hearty C-Dory mariners making the Naked Island cruise. Cool! Gonna be a lot of good look'in folks on that trip!

HolyMoly :xseek I bet old SuperDuper "TyBoo-Lexan Mike" is dun-worn-out by watchin this thread :? Man-o-live, we now are on page 7!! :thup Yud never know Alaskans were such a yakety group! Must be the Babys we own that keep us inspired (C-Dorys  )

Cool! Nothin' like free gear to motivate me to get Navicula ready to go. Still don't know if I'll make it though. Looks like I may be working in Seward for the summer... But that won't bee too bad either.

You bet, we'll be ready to boogie. You're right, it has been a little quite on the Naked Island thread. Maybe an update on the number of boats would be a place to start.

We had a chance to put the eyeball on the new Dogon Dory this evening and she is one beautiful looking C-Dory. Can't wait to see her when you finish the rigging.

Dan, I might even see if I can pull myself away from my busy schedule to make an early checkout trip with you to Naked.

Snow is all but gone in Fairbanks, sunny and warm. My home improvement project is done. The warden released the keys to my boat. I can focus my play and work on 3rd Byte. Life is good!

I would like to extend an offer to those Naked Island cruisers to stop by for a visit at our lodge near Cordova. The lodge is located in Sheep Bay, about halfway between Valdez and Cordova. Would be fun to exchange PWS cruising/fishing stories with fellow C-Brats.
I have just traded up from a 22 to a new 25 cruiser, and will be using it at the lodge for most of this upcoming summer.

Let me know if any of you have an interest.

I am planning on taking my first PWS trip next week. It would be cool to hook up with you Dogon.. Also I need someone to show me how to use my new downriggers. I plan on going on the 6th of next month. I would go this weekend but I'm making some new floorboards for the cockpit and fabbing up a new anchor feed cover. I dropped the last one in Tutka bay lagoon. :crook
