Langley Marina is now open under new ownership and management. It is now owned and operated by the Port of South Whidbey. The new Harbormaster is an experienced seaman. He is Rick Brewer, 360-221-1120. Email: harbormaster@portofsouthwhidbey.com. He has an onshore office that's walking distance to the marina area.

This would be a great opportunity to re-start a cruise and layover that happened in the past. The port is updating the marina while it is open for business. Soon, they will be anchoring a 400' breakwater that is already on-site.

Please contact Rick if this sounds like something you'd like to look into.

Thanks,
Thomas Riehl

No bites on this one? Langley was great fun, and Roger's "secret" DNR beach yielded up some mighty fine clams and mussels! Somebody take ahold of this one and run with it!

Thanks very much for helping us get the word out! If the C-Dory group wishes to stop in at the marina, please let them know that we will accomdate them, I will hold some space for them if they call ahead.

The office is working out great! I want to thank you for making this available.

Regards,
Rick Brewer

I haven't been on here enough to know how to organize one of these things. Honestly I don't get enough freetime to keep up.

I am open to whatever dates are chosen. I will be there barring and act of god!

Living just "up the road" from Langley we would love to help but I am still a slave to the work demon for another year and my time at any specific date is not guaranteed so I do not want to take on something and not be able to produce. But is someone is willing to take the front seat we will certainly help out.

Well you know, historically the person who suggests a gathering on this site usually becomes the "Group Moderator". So I guess that means Thomas would be heading this potential gathering. :wink

I would only hope that the Langley marina has cleaned up some. we were there a couple of months ago for a small c-brat gathering of sorts. we tied up and went up the hill for lunch and a little shopping. It had been several years since we had been there and I was thinking to myself as we were walking around that it was so dirty and looked sort of run down from when we had our last gathering there
Perhaps a new harbormaster /manager will help a lot.It was one of my favorite places for us to gather. I organized several years worth of gatherings and it was a lot of fun. Langley was actually the very first organized C-Brat/C-Dog cruise way back in the beginning. ( not sure what year it was) I never thought that we would grow to where we are today. we would schedule it with the low tides so that we could go clam digging and come back to the dock and have a seafood feast of clams and mussels and whatever there was on the potluck.

If I'm not mistaken it was April 2000. What I do remember for certain....it was one WILD ride from Everett due to high winds and waves...(especially in a 16' C-Dory Cruiser). Daughter Jessica who was 10 years old at the time said as we were 1/2 way between Everett and Hat Island with waves crashing over us, "I'm not sure dad, but I think this is the Perfect Storm". (We had recently seen the movie). We tucked into the Hat Island Marina until the seas flattened a bit and then continued on to Langley.
Robbin and Fred (in their then 22' Anita Marie) were following Brock (Catman) who was in his 16' C-Dory Angler and said that at times "Bambina" was vertical is it cruised up the waves.
This turned out to be a most memorable gathering and everyone was so accomodating in including Jessica in the event. This is one of life's memories we will cherish forever :thup !

My goodness! How time flies. Hard to believe that Brock (Bambina) is that old.  I like Langley and plan on making it this year - if (IF) we get the 22 classic back together in time.

Folks, I would like to offer th e position of Cruise director or moderator to any available person that will take it.

I am afraid I do not have the time to devote to be the organizer for this cruise. I am testifying in a federal matter that may take months to totally resolve and takes much of my time and effort (literally I have moved my laptop to my bed, cause I don't have the energy to sit at the desk at the end of the day).

I will promise this, if we all arrange it I will do my dangest to be there. Rick Brewer is a great Harbor Master, and is making great improvements to the Marina, cleaning it up ,and updating it. The Port of S. Whidbey recently finished signing the documents to take control of the Marina from the city of Langley.

I truly hope we can get this GTG up and going. I know in the past that it has been a great sucess. Although I will also admitted in the recent years the Marina has degraded do to neglect, it is on it's way back and there are HUGE plans in place around the Marina and Langley.

Hi, you old-timers! Man, the clock really gets up a head of steam and planes, don't it?
I recall eight or nine boats that first rendezvous, including Dancer Mike, who just happened to be there that day. I miss Dancer Mike.

Fireman Dave, I thought our first gig was March of '01, but I'll check my Daytimer. I'd sure like to be a part of any Langley event, but I've been holding back because I'd prefer it be in May or June when it's a little warmer. But I sure as heck won't cause a fuss at any decision. I mean, not unless a suit and tie is now required.

Two Lucky Fish is interested in coming along.

Please note that the service at the..."Dog House"? What's the tavern/pub at the end of the street on the right?...Anyway, it can be a little inconsistent. I've had experiences that were absolutely fine, and experiences that were really unacceptable, there.

Thanks, Fred....I got the month correct but missed the year...by a year. Oh, the memories, those pictures of our 1st humble gathering. One of my memories was when Jessica and I rounded the breakwater, several C-Brats were waiting on the docks to direct us in to a slip. Since, we'd never met each other in person before (only via the web site), Jessica looked at those waiting to assist us in and said, "well dad, they are just like you....old and gray"..... :crook .....out of the mouths of babes.

(Obviously, Jessica's comment did not apply to all of the wives as she hadn't seen their much younger wives yet!)
