06/06 - 06/08 - Annual Chesapeake Bay Gathering

Tom and all, glad you had a good time! We sure missed being there.

I think it's more of a C-Brat Gathering, after all that's what CBGT stands for! A C-Brat, owing a Ranger, or a C-Dory or having had or lusted after one and now having another type of boat should be welcome!

See you next year!

Charlie

Charlie,

I agree, the foundation is C Brat and should stay that way. Frankly, at the gathering people were more interested in the clever and creative ways C Dorys have been modified and adjusted to the tastes of the owners, than in the "new" boats.

Sure missed you Charlie, but your work was appreciated. I could have used you to line up this unruly kazoo group for the concert. We gave up the marching due to the heat..but the Navy would have marched, right?

Just added some pictures to the photo album - Events and Cruises. Check out the pix and add some of your own!

Nice to read all the comments. Glad everyone had a great time, I know we did. It is a great group!

Start thinking of ideas for next year. Committee will need more help for "Fifty at Five".

Want to thank all the guys who helped getting boats into the water and out, driving trailers to parking lot and tying up boats at the slips. Thank you to Tom for providing parking at his house.

Thank you to the culinary contribution of Tom's crab balls. They were great!

Thank you to John and Liz for picking out the shirts, having them printed and distributing them. Great to have local help.

Thank you to Charlie for the name tags and spreadsheet. They work out great for everyone.

Thank you to Terry for the hot dogs, Mikey for the bass and Bonnie for helping me clean up tables and chairs.

Thank you to Fred and Pat for taping the table covers Saturday night.

The list could go on and on...... Many hands always ready to help.

And, of course, to Anne and Doug....the worker bees of this committee.

This idea of "5th year: Fifty boats" intrigues me. Logistically, a nightmare, but what fun it would be. The group picture alone would be worth it!

I have alread located additional parking for rigs.

Well, we made it back to Florida OK, and it's time I posted my comments. We all enjoyed the Gathering, and as usual, each year it get's better then ever. A hearty thanks and "Well Done" to all who made and make it possible. Fran was one of the lucky ones who won one of Doug's CDory models and it looks great on our coffee table.

Unfortunately, :cry this was probably the last gathering that we'll be able to make WITH "The Fran Sea" as I have decided to sell her. We keep the boat on a trailer at a storage yard, and it's just been to difficult for us to deal with and we rarely get out on her. I will probably put a listing in the "for sale" section in the next few days, and if I don't sell it by October, it goes up to Three Rivers Marine on consignment.

The CDory is a great boat, and since I started my boating career over 50 years ago with a similiar boat (same hull & cabin type), it's fitting that I ended with a CDory, the same way it started. :unlove

Next year if you have the gathering, Fran & I would like nothing more then to join all of you (sans boat) and help celebrate the CDory way of Life.

A final post....... if you haven't noticed, I was successful in selling "The Fran Sea" after a short 15 days or so. This says a lot for the C-Dory, this site, etc. I thought I priced it pretty reasonable and actually received VERY close to the asking price.

So for sure, I'm now boat less and expect to remain so, however we'll try to attend next year's "Gathering" if posible and maybe someone will take pity on this old sailor and welcome us aboard.

Roger,

We will welcome you back to the gathering next year, without a boat. And I am sure I am not the only one who will offer you "boat" hospitality when you are here. Next year should be very special...so plan on makingthe trip.
