06/04 - 06/06 - Lake Roosevelt

Thanks Ken, I'll keep that in mind--if you don't find us at Hunters we'll be in that cove. Give us a call on the VHF we'll be monitoring channel 16.

This is turning out better than we might have planned! Our friend Bob lives in Colville, which is just a few miles down the road from Kettle Falls. We'll probably leave Cottonwood early Saturday morning, pick up Bob mid-day, and then find the fleet near Kettle Falls on Saturday afternoon. I recall someone proposing a potluck that afternoon/evening; is that still a possibility? If so, we're happy to contribute.

Greg

Hi Greg, Not sure about a pot luck--looks like we'll only 2 maybe 3 boats. We will be at Kettle Falls Saturday afternoon & your more than welcome to partake in our afternoon libations.
Looking forward to meeting you & having an opportunity to brag about our boats.

There's a timely artical in the Sunday Oregonian travel section about Lake Roosevelt....Still time for you Oregonian readers to grease those wheel bearings and hit the road for a quiet, post holliday vacation.
It's looking like the weather is going to turn warm and sunny again.

2day, washed boat & truck

2morrow, load stuff

Thursday, hit the road about noonish, stop at roadside country store just north of Tri-Cities for chocolate covered cherries, hit Hunters campground before dark.

Friday, attempt to make radio contact with Why Not crew as we motor our way to Canada (maybe we can make it that far)

Saturday, work our way back to Kettle Falls for some C-D B.S.

Weather report is calling for 80-86 degrees and sunshine, all the holliday boaters have gone home, and jet skis aren't allowed on the lake, that all makes for a fine long weekend. The only fly in the ointment is M, she's complaining of a sore throat. I sent her to bed with a jug of Nyquil and plan on keeping her drugged untill we're on the road. I better go check her Nyquill IV now......later

At a pool elevation of 1280', the lake is still about 15' shy of floating all the docks, a lesson learned. The mini C-Dory fleet made an early retreat....I'm sure hoping that you where craving a drive up to visit your friend in Coleville, Greg....I was wishing I could have given you a call the other night and saved you some mileage

We did enjoy the scenery, saw some critters and ate a bunch of cherries. Coming home down the freeway we saw a C-Dory on the Columbia by Multnoma Falls

We agree with Ken--the Lake Roosevelt trip was not as planned. At 1280' there was not enough water for all the docks to be floating & the marina's did not have any guest slips. Many of the slips were empty but they were rented for the season. Wednesday night we tied up to a pine tree & beached the boat. On Thursday night we did stay at Kettle Falls marina but only because a kind lady let us stay at an empty slip. Any way the scenery was pretty & for the most part the water was like a mill pond. The highlite was the sighting of 4 Golden Eagles--we had never seen them before.

Even with the water level problem, I wish we would have been with you folks at Roosevelt. I must have been having short term memory loss when I thought that we could make it this weekend. This was the first week of the cherry season and our customers were very stressed and needing immediate service.

Wade, Shelley just asked me about the colored line company that you mentioned at Lopez. I tried www.topknot.com and didn't find the website. Do you have any more information that you can share regarding their name and address?
Lyle

We missed getting over to Roosevelt! We've been working , getting the house and grounds ready for the summer, and fighting off ills ,and haven't even looked at the boat til Sunday.

As for Top-Knot, yep mooringlines.com is the place. We got our lines at their SBS booth the year our boat was on display. They were the first part of the rigging we got. Consequently we are very pleased with them. The best ones we have are Top Knot's. Excellent products.

Mr Fisherman, I appreciate your comments about veterans the other day. Regarding Lake Roosevelt their isn't much to tell that Blue C & I have already reported. I posted a few pictures in the Why Knot photo album
