06/03 - 06/05 Eastern Shore, Maryland gathering

Did we miss the boat on the crab orders for Saturday night? If not, put Sioux and I down for two people. If so, there has to be somplace nearby to rustel up a crab dinner. (Either way, we plan on bringing some powerful Dominican Republic rum to stoke up happy hour.)

No boat (yet) for us but if you need a driver and car to shuttle folks we will have a rental car that we could offer. No local knowledge but how hard can it be to get lost in Chestertown? (Fatal last words.)

Thanks,
Steve and Sioux

Howdy All-

Been all over hell's half acre for the last few weeks, but really looking forward to getting home for real very soon. Also looking forward to getting C's the Day in our grubby little hands. Checked in on her on Saturday and saw a beautiful Honda 150 and a spunky Honda 15 w/bracket hanging from her transom. Also saw her for the first time with a bow rail and the radar arch, and the name painted on the side. By God, it's finally starting to look like the C-Dory I've been dreaming about! We'll hope to have her by the end of the week for a little tooling around over the holiday, and a shakedown or two prior to the Gathering.

I've actually laid eyes on the hallowed Halcyon, and have had the very good fortune to meet El and Bill! What great folks, and I look forward to spending more time with them soon. They made an interesting observation... With 15 to 20 C-Dorys on site at Cutter, and probably another 20 or so in the local waters (all shapes, sizes, and colors), I guess we kinda take it for granted how many of these fine craft there are on the Middle River complex. But when veterans like El and Bill say they've, "never seen so many C-Dorys in their life," I guess we really have a lot of C-Dorys here. So, just to relay Gary and Ruthie's invitation again, if after our Lankford session, you want to have a little cruise to Middle River, tie up, use the pool etc., there's some great folks, good food, and if you haven't gotten enough of a C-Dory fix at Lankford Bay, we have one helluva a lot of C-Dorys here too.

If it's not too late, please put Jen and I down for crabs. Look forward to seeing everyone very soon. Glad you're getting Sally's Sister sorted out, Tom. Can't wait to see you and her again and hope to meet the rest of her crew too.

Cheers!

Tom.... It's getting close, I guess we'll leave on Tuesday after the holiday crowd gets a chance to get home, etc. I guess if we do get up there a little early, Langford will be able to accomadate us.

Now about crabs....... I personally love them but they don't love me as I'm allergic to iodine. The Admiral (the Fran in the "The Fran-
Sea) loves crab and is looking forward to getting her fill as long as it's sauteed, or at least out of the shell.... she never did have much luck in getting the critters undressed!

Question.... if we plan on cruising the area for a few days after the rally, will it be OK to leave our vehicle and trailor on your lot for a few days or should we make other arrangements.... don't want to impose.

Tom,

Our boat will not be rigged by the Gathering, so we cancelled our reservations at the marina for June 3, 4 and 5. Anyone else who needs dockage should jump on the available space!

Marcia and I are still planning on coming, though. I will arrive via car Friday morning. I may need to camp at your field Friday night, but we have B&B reservations for Saturday and Sunday. We head back to Cutter Monday to see our boat, talk rigging and meet the electronics guy about installing our radar.

Marcia will be in Baltimore starting Wed. for a veterinary conference and I will pick her up Saturday morning. Hopefully, someone will want to see the Inner Harbor by water and I can hitch a ride and pick up Marcia in the process. I dread that long drive with bridge traffic!

Looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing different ways to set up our boat!

Tom, The crew of THE LAST DANCE would like to supply part of the hot dogs for Sat. night. We are thinking 10# of reds and 10# of whites should put about 120 dogs on the grill for starters plus we are bringing a case of a local favorite red wine to help wash things down. Comments or suggestions? We will be leaving Attica aprox. 4 PM Wed. afternoon trying to get south of Harrisburg at night to miss some traffic then we will find someplace to overnight and come the rest of the way Thurs. AM. We might be just a wee bit over length for Maryland so wish us luck!!! Really looking forward to this!!! Terry

Will update the attendance list in the Documents Section in a minute. We've got two new attendees and our first and only TomCat! Welcome Fred and Pat and Fred and Deb. Two Freds and a Deb and Pat....

Will probably do one more update if I get any new info on Tuesday morning early and then close it down. New attendees are welcome of course at any time, including "drop ins!""

If anyone sees any info for them that's wrong, please let me know and I'll fix it. will have hard copies at the gathering for everyone.

Had a great time at Cutters this week -- we reiterate TJ's posting: "if after our Lankford session, you want to have a little cruise to Middle River, tie up, use the pool etc., there's some great folks, good food, and if you haven't gotten enough of a C-Dory fix at Lankford Bay, we have one helluva a lot of C-Dorys here too." You'll enjoy your stay at Cutters in Middle River -- great folks, great spot.

Does anyone coming to the gathering on the Eastern Shore need a spare tire and wheel for an EZ Loader trailer? I replaced both of my wheels and tires last season and kept one of the old ones for a spare but the other one is begging for a home. It's still a very good tire, practically no miles but 11 years old. No dry rot or anything.

I'll give someone a good deal, trade it for a cold beer.

Jane and I are thinking of running "Snowdon" up to Chestertown this weekend, since we won't be in town on the "Get Together" weekend. Anyone else headed up? It sounded like Bill and El might be there too. Would enjoy meeting y'all.
Who was running a C-Dory out of the Inner Harbor of Baltimore around 10:30 this morning (Friday)? We saw you from the skipjack "Sigsbee" off Fort McHenry. Did you notice us and the pungy schooner, "Lady Maryland"? Hope you enjoyed your visit. Bruce Holly

Bruce, we will surely miss you and Jane at our gathering but I don't feel too sorry for you in your current job! Hopefully next year or this fall we'll do it again!

Charlie

Bruce --
We are in Chestertown Marina tonight. Would enjoy meeting you if you come to the Tea Party. We'll be uptown in the am for the music, etc., but you'll see Halcyon parked next to Lizzie Ann in the Marina and will look for you in the afternoon after the Tea dumping.
We were in the Bay just off Baltimore Friday am, but sounds like the C-Dory you saw was in the Inner Harbor.
The cruise up the Chester is magnificent, as you know. Weather is perfect, town beautiful, and all looks in readiness for a great weekend. Hope to meet you here --

Eland Bill,

I came up river looking for you about 7am this morning. Looked around but didn't see you....toured the "fleet" and met a friend for coffee..Enjoy the day.

To all who are coming to use the field, etc. I have been called out of town of some family business, to Pittsburgh, on Tuesday and Wednesday..i will return late in the day on Wednesday. My cell phone is 443 480 6056, if you need to reach me. I'll leave it on during my drive to and from Pittsburgh.

I think Terry, from Attica, NY, is the only possibility for the field on Wednesday, but if El and Bill need to settle in, i can direct you to the place..as can John S. of Lizzie Ann...

We are all waiting for your arrivals at Lankford Bay Marina on Friday (or Saturday for some). Safe travel.

Call in to the marina on 16 and you will be switched to another channel for directions to your slip.

Pot luck on Friday night. Saturday night hot dogs, hamburgers, crabs.

Shirts are ready and I think you wil like them.

Ruthie , Gary and Joe from Cutter will be attending .

I will be available on cell (443 480 6056).

We just may be on our way to setting a record for c dory boats in one spot..

Look forward to meeting you all.

After our first (great!) weekend on our new boat, we have determined that it would be criminal for us to miss the Eastern Shore Gathering next week. We are planning on cruising over from Cutter on Saturday. Hopefully, there will be a place for a couple of newbies to squeeze in!

Tom or Charlie,

You mentioned in a previous post that you could post directions to the place to buy the ramp permit and to the ramp itself. Did I miss this post?

Also Tom, is it hard to find your field? How far is t from the Marina?

Thanks for your help.

Regrets from Byrdman on FreeByrd.... Frown on my face. Too much travel packed too close together. Will attempt to make this trip next year.
A special thanks to George and Penny on Wanderer....for their invite they made during our Nashville Gathering. Have a safe gathering and I will be thinking of your constantly and praying for safe travels and boating for all.
Cheers!
Patrick

Just want everyone to know the new boat is on the water and ready to roll. Still some tweaking needs to be done this week, but we've already spent a night aboard on the hook, and zipped all over the upper bay (almost 10 hrs on our first weekend). She was great! Some new photos are on our site.

See you all on Saturday!

Cheers,

Here's a map on how to get to Toys Outdoor Store where you get the permit. It's about 4 miles from the ramp which is at the end of rt 288. You can get directions where you get the permit. Will post a map on how to get to Tom Terraplanes house/field next, it's about a mile from the ramp. You can zoom in and out on the map and even get driving directions from your location. Call me or mail if you have a problem. My phone number here is 540 288 9422. I will be leaving here for there about 9 on Friday morning by car. My cell phone is 571 213 8687.

Captain's Choice is in the driveway on the trailer and we will be rolling northeast about 0900 on Friday morning. Hopefully there by noon. See all of you soon, keep on doing the sun dance.
