06/03 - 06/05 Eastern Shore, Maryland gathering

We're looking forward to meeting you both too. I'm just sorry that Oscar can't come play with my Silky Terrier, Andy. Spring has fullly come to the Right Coast, all the Azaleas are in full bloom and the pollen has made all the black cars yellow!

30 days and counting!

Howdy All-

Met Terraplane Tom tonight, just off the airplane from Hungary, and was welcomed aboard Sally's Sister! It was a pleasure to be sure, and Tom and the boat are a great pair. We had a little GPS familiarity session, and he's overnighting at Cutter. Then he'll be off with the tide tomorrow morning to Annapolis to visit friends and back to Rock Hall on Friday. Bon voyage, Tom (I'm jealous)!

Also had a nice chat with Gary, owner of Cutter Marine. He wanted to extend his invitation to any of the Eastern Shore Gathering group that wishes to visit either before or after the main event at Lankford. He graciously offered a free slip or tie up for any C-Dory, and welcomed us to use the pool or any of the fine facilities at Cutter. He also mentioned that if there was interest and we could set a time, he'd have his chief mechanic come down to talk with us for a Q&A if there were any questions from the group about how best to maintain and deal with the C-Dory or Honda engines.

As I live in Middle River (one of Gary and Ruthie's neighbors, actually), I can recommend the Middle River complex as a great, laid back waterfront destination, often overlooked in favor of Big Time Baltimore or Famous Annapolis. I'm not saying it's better than either of those well known places, but you can't beat the friendly hospitality, great food, and the excellent scenery right here on Middle River. So there you have it. Anyone who wishes to come by is welcome, and can check in with me or visit Cutter's website at www.cuttermarineinc.com. Talk to Gary or Ruthie any time.

See you in June!

Spring kind of came here in January and February, and now we are sort of back to late winter in March, April and May to date...Oscar sends his regrets!

Thanks TJ and Jen for the update and passing on Cutter Marine's invitation. Based on the excellent service and friendly attitude I've always recieved from Gary and Ruthie, it doesn't surprise me a bit.

Hello All,

I returned from Hungary Tuesday, met my new 22, Sally's Sister,on Wednesday, and also TJ M. Got help with the GPS,(which i have never had on previous boats)...i'm fully satisfied with the boat. moved around the Bay on Thursday and Friday, and she is now in her slip at Hill's, on Gray's Inn Creek, off Chester River...all my friends are more than interested in theboat and the comments are favorable...all around. The family plans to have Mother's Day dinner aboard.

Captain's Choice has been steadfast while i was away...thanks Charlie.

I talked with John A. at Lankford Bay Marina yesterday and he confirms he is full...but may be able to put a boat on two on moorings just 100 feet from the docks.Call if interested.

Our little subcommittee will meet next week and soon we will be sending out some detail on the nitty gritty...(directions, etc.)

It's time to cross fingers for the weather.

Glad to be home. Hungary was fun, but Chesapeake in the spring is glorious.

Welcome back, Tom! We are counting the days out here on the Left Coast! We had a little CBGT of our own at Lopez Island in the San Juans this weekend, it was a blast, but REALLY looking forward to the Eastern Shore and meeting you all!!!! Here is a shot of me at the Turn Point Light House, Stuart Island, so you can see what I look like so you will know who the heck I am when I show up ...Brock Arnold (Catman), owner of the classic '89 16' Bambina, was kind enough to get behind the camera and snap this shot of me...

Have just updated the spreadsheet list of who is coming. Has anyone heard from Half/Pint? Not sure how he got on the sheet but I have no confirmation from him/her. Not from Wanderer either but I know they are coming.

Also posted a short version, just listing names/boats and homeports without all of the other data.

You can find them in the Documents section.

I'm in the process of reconciling our reservations list with Langford Bay Marina. Will advise any discrepancies.

The marina says they had one reservation that requested a slip/dock near the head of the pier and the heads because of either limited mobility or a handicap but he's lost the slip of paper with who it is. If you'll let me know if it's you, I'll pass it along and ensure that you get what you need.

Charlie - Captain's Choice,

Penny and I are back in Annapolis. Wanderer is in the driveway. We had a great cruise, about 1200 NM along the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers. Spent 35 nights aboard and met some great people. Hope to post some pictures before the Chesapeake Gathering.

Penny and I will be there on Wanderer. We have reserved a slip for Friday and Saturday night. We hope to be able to cruise with anyone so inclined; before, during and after the gathering.

Back to washing and waxing...

Hey George and Penny -

It's neat to hear how great your cruise was. Wow - 35 nights!

If you look to the left of your message posts, you'll see a link to an album in which you can post all the pictures you like. Thanks in advance!

Mike

Hello everyone...

Well, we are just three weeks from our gathering. Here is a bit of an update...

For those who are trailering in. the best plan is to stop at Toy's Outdoor Store on Rt. 20 near Rock Hall, first and pick up the ramp permit...$10 for three days. Toys address is 6274 Rock Hall Road, Rock Hall, Maryland, 21661..from there, proceed to the launch ramp. then to my field to park.
My home telephone is 410 639 7943. My cell phone is 443 480 6056. Call me when you are in the area so I can give you directions to the ramp. I will also post directions here. We will have transport for you available.

The "committee" met Saturday...the Baxter's and I...and here are our thoughts. Friday night...potluck..we will have transport for those who want to run in to Rock Hall for any shopping. We'll have sodas and beer and wine available. You can make donations. Saturday...some might want to cruise to either Chestertown or Rock Hall, some just hang out..visit boats, etc. Saturday night...we'll have hot dogs and hamburgers and steamed crabs. It would be helpful to know who the crab eaters are. These are Maryland Blue Crabs, steamed and very spicy.

Sunday departure.

There may still be a mooring to two available. Slips are full.

I have 15 hours on Sally's Sister, and plan a lot of time this week. She is a delight.

Tom/terraplane

Tom and "the committee", Thanks for all of the work! I am getting excited. (I just hope UAL doesn't screw up the works :( )

Bring on the "Old Bay", that's two for crab. Robbi

I plan to post yahoo maps directions to both the place to pick up the launch permits and to the launch ramp itself sometime next week. They are not hard to find. Sally is a Crab afficionado, I'm just a crab and will eat beefs.

Charlie

Who are the crab eaters????

Our place in Birch Bay, WA, is known as "The Crab Palace."

Patty is known as "The Crab Queen."

And you want to know who are the crab eaters?

YOU GOT A PAIR HERE!!!!

I plan to attend with my wife and wasn't on spreadsheet. I can be contacted at Dclem35296@aol.com for info. Had difficulty when activating C-Brat log on.

Toniekline -- Are you the missing, mythic half/pint? I sent you an e-mail but thought you might see this here sooner. Please look at the spreadsheet and send me info to fill it out. If you need more info, let me know and we'll work it out!!

Look forward to meeting you!!
