06/03 - 06/05 Eastern Shore, Maryland gathering

Charlie,

Great...I might have excel on this machine..it has a lot of bells and whistles. but i'll email you my fax number...i'll have to learn to use it.

Pat: I've locked my self out of the car more times than i can count...hate these modern vehicles...smoke signals would suit me fine...

That's why C. Dory will be an iteresting thing for me...i've never had GPS on previous 8 boats..just the last one had a VHS...good compass, when it works. C dory will be high tech for me.

Charlie,

I'll send our 9l year old black lab, Gussie, down to the 301 bridge to sit and wait...She'll take a day or so to get there...lots of fish to roll in on the way.

To All.

Cutter Marine called today to say my boat is at their marina after the cross country trip from the factory, and rigging will start tomorrow...I'm hoping to go across the bay next week to do sea trials. My plan is to pick up the boat on Middle River, take it to Annapolis (about an hour or so ride) then next day up to Baltimore Inner Harbor, then back to Cutter for any touchups needed. Lots of friends in Annapolis and Baltimore who want to "toast" the boat.

Congrats, Tom. That's great news! Let us know when you're in Middle River and we'll pop over to toast the new "girl" in the McHugh family. Hope it's lots and lots of fun!

Cheers,

Thanks.

The Cutter gang is busy with a boat show this week, but i hope to get over to Middle River sometime next week to get a look at "Sally''s Sister" ...I'll let you know when.

Tom, just spent a good bit of time and compiled an excel spreadsheet for the gathering with as much info as I think we need. Boat names/owners/who/howmany are coming/people/dogs/etc. Whether or not they need a ramp/field parking/whether they've made marina reservations/tshirts, etc. I'll send it to you in an e-mail just as soon as I post this.

I got the info from the owners profiles/the discussion on the gathering and anywhere else I could find it. It amounts to 24 boats, so that agrees with your number of late. Also included the Andersons and Robbie and Roz Krumm.

What I'd ask you to do is to fill in all the blanks you can from the records (from your stone tablets I suppose... ) and send it back to me. You may have info in PMs or in e-mails that I don't have. I'll then go out via e-mail or PM to the folks we still need info from and get the list completed and send back to you. Anyway, you can call me if you have questions. You might even call the marina and check that that column is complete. If you don't have excel, let me know and I'll try to put it into some other format.

Here is an update on our gathering.

We have 25 boats signed up! And that does not include our "left coast" represtentatives who will be here. All in all, we have 11 states represented. Not bad for our first ever gathering here in The Land of Pleasant Living.

So far, there are 25 orders for t shirts. I'll be turning in the order around April 18, so after that i won't be able to take orders. I will order a few extras in various sizes.

We have contacted our local paper and their photographer is going to try to get a picture of all the boats together...I hope he has a wide angle lens!

I'll be out of the country, strumming the banjo in Hungary, from April 19 to May 3.

Tom/terraplane

PS. I just spent an expensive hour in West Marine buying stuff for my new boat...swiping the card has never been so much fun.

Special thanks to Charlie, of CAPTAIN'S CHOICE, for organizing a chart for me using EXCEl, ...a great help...and an impromement on my yellow legal size tablets.

Congrats Tom ;
Have fun throwing more money  into the hole, above the hole, in the water. We welcome you and the new CD to our adventure. Sorry I will not be able to make this gathering... Something about work keeps getting in the way.

I'll be thinking of Charlie & all the good folks up there. Maybe next year after I get over crying abt missing this one. As the gang toast the one of the latest arrivals, please rmember I only have a $200 limit on my AAA Bail Bond card. So don't do anything I wouldn't do.....

Cutter will do you right and you will be well pleased. If you see Joe when you get over to Cutter , say HI from the VA Beach Da.. Yankee.

Tom --
We finally got on the site -- cruising the Upper Cumberland was rather sparse on connection. We would like 2 t-shirts -- one x-large, and one medium (womans). Thanks. Have a good trip to Hungary.

HI TOM; I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR THE GATHERING IN ORDER TO COME, I AM PLANING ON COMING BUT I CANNOT COMMIT MYSELF THIS FAR IN ADVANCE. C.TURTLE

Tom, Terry(THE LAST DANCE) would like to order 1 extra large and 2 large T shirts. Thanks in advance and have a really good trip. Terry

Well, June 3 is not that far away. Here are some details.

Last call for T. Shirts...I will order just a few extras in various sizes, but not many, so get your order in asap.

Question about "can one come to the gathering, and not register"...well, it would mean anchoring out, probably...since the marina may be full...and we do need to plan on some things....but sure, come anyway..we'll work it out...if you find at the last minute you can come...come. Might be better to register for a slip, since you can cancel within 24 hours i think.

I leave Tuesday, the 19th for Hungary, where I will mostly be in the countryside, in small villages and towns. I'll play a lot for kids and community groups...American folk and blues...Hungarian food, wine, and the people are great...

Return on May 3, and pick up "Sally's Sister" on May 4. at Cutter's.

Hi, this is the First Mate of "Alma's Only" in Richmond. The captain, David, has been in the Florida Keys the last month while I have been teaching school (?) I did get to spend a glorious week with him during Spring Break down there -fishing and watching the sun rise and set. Am looking forward to the June gathering and need to order 2 t-shirts - one Large, one Medium. Tx. p.s. this is my first posting and pray it doesn't reveal a novice boater to the extreme....

C-Turtle,
On behalf of all of us who are planning-challenged (and I know that most of our West Coast brethren will back me up on this!), just show up if you can -- you will be welcomed with open arms. One of the things I love about the C-Dory is that it allows spontaneity. Many is the evening when I've gone out on the river with some friends or just the dogs on the spur of the moment for a one- or two-hour cruise. There's nothing I like better than cruising under the Wilson Bridge (part of the I-495 beltway around Washington, DC) when it is packed with cars from DC's late rush hour. You feel like you are in a different world from those folks above you.

All the wonderful planning that Tom and others have put into this gathering should in no way discourage anyone from that last minute, spontaneous decision to just show up, with or without the boat (especially if you bring beer).

Cheers,

Tom/Terraplane: I'm trying to keep the spreadsheet updated, my count right now on T- Shirts is

XL 5
L 7
M 9
S 4

25 Total

You may have some that I don't have. Don't forget to send that spreadsheet back before you go galavanting off to Hungary. Wish I were going with you but I can barely play the computer much less anything that makes real music!

Charlie

Well, obviously you are a novice! David may be the Captain, but you are the Admiral! At least that is what Patty keeps telling me!

Tom-

Best of luck on your trip to Hungary if we don't see you in Middle River this week. I will be at Cutter today or tomorrow, so perhaps we'll see your boat! Our two "girls" are of hungarian descent, so they wish you a special good time, and recommend the goulash! (see our Dog gone 2nd and 3rd mate photo album).

Oh, Jen and I would like to order 1 large, 1 medium, and 1 small T-Shirt.

Thanks so much.

Cheers!

Ehoing Tom on Otter...Sure, just come at the last minute...rafting up is fun!

RE: sending back the spread sheet..(with a red face) How does one do that?

I told you, i am knuckles and toes when it comes to these machines.

tom/terraplane

Tom, sorry we didn't put our order in earlier. We were away.

2 shirts
1 Medium 1 Large

Have a safe trip. Have fun out-fitting the boat. Won't be long now til new boat is ready. I am working on bottom paint now that weather has finally gotten warmer and no rain. May is just around the corner and time to put boat in the water.
