Hi Steve,

On our cruise last fall, we stayed in the Elizabeth City B&B (sorry I don't have a phone #, as the ex-mayor met us at the dock and called them for us).

Bed was comfy. Breakfast delicious, and the hosts very accommodating giving us rides to the boat.

Rick from Maine

Rick,
Joan and I stayed at the same B&B last your on the Mini-Loop trip. Richard stayed there as well. The mattress was so hard and uncomfortable in our room, that we finally resigned to taking a sedative (Tylonal PM) in order to sleep.
I did right a not to Ray and Maureen explaining this and am waiting to see if we can get a room with a mattress that won't be difficult to make it through the night.

Only a little more that 2 weeks to go and we will be on the Carolina Loop. I have verified our marina reservation and updated the reservations for "Skimmer". For the new boats doing the loop, NOAA Chart #12206 covers the entire route. I will have the Waterway Guide and updates from Active Captain for review. At the pot luck dinner (Dismal Swamp Visitor Center) on Friday I plan to bring hot dogs, roles, condiments, bean salad and will have a grill available if anyone needs it. Looking forward to seeing and cruising with everyone.

Joan and I are looking forward to the trip and also looking forward to meeting up with out C-Dory friends. We look forward to the pot-luck and plan to stay in the Elizabeth City B&B once moored in E-City.

Just a heads up for those new to the trip, you will need 2 long lines (25 to 30 feet) for the locks at Deep Creek (12 foot rise) and South Mills (12 foot fall). These lines are attached one to the bow and one to the stern to maintain the boats position in the lock during transitions. The transitions are very mild with some turbulence at Deep Creek. If you have any questions please let me know.

For all,
Joan will provide an orzo and roasted vegetable salad for the pot luck to go with the dogs.
Dick,
Did you make reservations at Pelican Marina and Coinjock Marina for all boats that are signed up?

Steve,

Yes, I have made reservations at Pelican and Coinjock for all boats that have signed up.

Erma & Ernie,

Looking forward to seeing you next week. Have a safe trip to Virginia.

Can't believe I will be missing you guys this year  Joey had such a great time on this trip last year. I will be overseas (again) but definitely thinking of you all. Can't wait to see the pictures posted after the trip.

TiVo,

Sorry you won't ba able to make it this year, but I understand when work calls. Hopefully we can get together some time this season. Have a safe trip to Africa.

Dick

This cruise is such a nice idea. I would also like to meet other C-Dory folks on such a trip. Any chance you all would like to gather again later in the Summer?? Unfortunately the date does not work for us as well. :(

I am leaving from Ocean Marine on Friday morning to meet up with the group. It's a short run between the two points. Any idea of what time you plan to leave the marina?

Steve

Brook C - it's possible we may get together for a Chesapeake trip in the summer. We were going to talk about it during the loop. If we plan on a trip we will post it here.

Steve Dore - last year we left Centerville Waterway Marina I think sometime after 8AM to make the Great Bridge Bridge & Lock opening at 9AM. This allowed us to make the Deep Creek Lock transition at 11AM. I would like to do the same this year, but I have not discussed this with the others leaving from CWM. If you send me your phone number I would be glad to let you know what we decide when we get together next Thursday.

Dick

I forwarded my cell number via PM. I will plan to meet the group on the far side of the Great Bridge lock before you enter the Dismal Swamp passage. That way I don't have to transit the lock twice.

Thanks

Steve

All,

I looked at the extended weather forecast and it is favorable for our cruise. I received a call from the Pelican Marina in Elizabeth City and the dock master Josh has set aside several slips so we can be together at the marina. Josh said the Potato Festival will be in full swing when we arrive.

Suzanne and I are packing our new 22 for the trip. It will be our maiden voyage. We are having some trouble finding room for everything since the last time we traveled in a boat together was in a 40' Motoryacht. So if we show up for the trip with only a couple inches of freeboard showing you will understand.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year and have safe travel to the cruise.

If anyone needs to contact me please call me at 301-788-1517.

Dick

Joan and I are looking forward to the trip. We plan to lock through Deep Creek Locks at 1330, so please keep a mooring spot for us at the Visitors Center.

Lady KC will be thinking of you guys.

Have a safe and fun trip.

Hope to see many of you for the
Oriental to Ocracoke outing on June 08, 2012.

Bill & Karan,

Thanks. I suspect you all are getting excited about your upcoming trip. Have a great time!
