05/17 - 05/20 - 4th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

Hi Steve,

The Wheeler Island Duck Club is at Wheeler Island! (duh), I can probably come up with the coordinates if I study my GPS a little. But the catch is you'd be best to come in with the rest of us because there's a very specific route that must be followed to avoid grounding -- kinda like their club membership key...! Worth every minute though. Bring your fishing pole too.

Hey Steve (Seabran), got lucky on the GPS, actually found Wheeler Island. I had no idea how many islands are around the same area and I didn't mark it last year while there. Here's the coordinates that'll get you close, not sure of the actual dock/building location on the map though: 38d 4.7m, 121d 57.3m.

Steve-

Steve (Dora Jean) is right. This is kind of a secret place that is difficult to find. It is not really on the map. Best to just follow the group when they leave Rio Vista. Swanny has given you the general coordinates. The exact route into the club requires a procedure to follow and some special rafting instructions for this year that you will get at the location.

We are pleased that Sam and Kerry of Salty-C-s have taken Sealife's three marina reservations for Petaluma, Salsalito, and Alamada. We now will have ten boats in total, and Salty-Cs will be joining us from Wednesday through Sunday. We have a great group we are looking forward to seeing.

Hammerhead Doug;

As we mentioned before, this particular trip basicly transfered over from the old C-Dog site. We never used the Brat sign up list to confirm reservations for this particular trip. In fact, we were in Italy at the time that every thing transfered over to this site.

I myself did not even know how to use this site at the time of transfer and
I was never aware of the Brat signup sheet. It is unfortunate that this caused some confusion.

As Roger Fishtales said to you earlier, he will be in the Delta out of Rio Vista from Thursday through Sunday fishing and he would welcome some company.

The reservations for this trip are now fixed and already made for Petaluma, Sausalito, and Alameda. If you want to try to get additional reservations at Sausalito and Alameda for yourself you would certainly be welcome. There is alot of upfront planning for this trip, unlike most other C-Dory get togethers and it is some work to make this all happen for alot of boats at these popular marinas.

We would love to have you join us on a trip. I see you are in Sacramento and I would look forward to meeting you. If you want to discuss this further please contact me off-line at (916) 799-0286 cell.

Hey Hammerhead.... why don't you call the marina's and see if you can make arrangements for the same nights.... they might be able to accommodate you... Jim had to close the reservations as he only has arrangements for the boats he knew about at the time. We all would love you to join us....

Dear All-

Our event is just one and 1/2 weeks away and we are getting excited! We now have 10 vessels in total with 16 skippers and first mates.

Of the 16 soles, 7 of the attendees are wifes and girl friends so we have a lot of females along to soften our edges. This is a great group of wifes and girl friends that are sole mates to their men.

Of the 10 vessels, 7 are going along for the entire 5 days. Three of the vessels are coming for just Wednesday and Thursday morning.

Of the 10 C-Dory vessels, 7 are 22 feet, and 3 are 25 feet, including one Tom Cat. Eight of the 10 attendees have been on the trip before and two of the boats are new to the journey.

Finally, six of the 10 boats are coming from Southern California, three are from Northern California, and one is from Utah.

Thats a quick update with some metrics for those that are interested in these sort of things. We have to run down to the boat house and do some more work on our boat to get ready!

We will bring our favorite Champagne to augment Sea3PO's OJ. As much as we love Catalina, it will be a true adventure to experience your stompin' grounds.

Sam and Kerry

Hi folks,

Just confirming here, as I did with Jim G by email, that I'll be up on Friday, May 19th, to say hello to you C-Brats. I'm asking my wife if she might come along, too. We are thinking about a C-Dory in our future.

I'll have my Vessel Safety Check materials with me, too, and will do complimentary VSC's for folks. I'll arrive at Schoonmaker Marina mid-afternoon on Friday. If you would like a "fast" VSC, have your registration papers, PFDs and throwable, flares, fire extinguisher out and available. Check out the URL below for on-line information on what is included in a Vessel Safety Check.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Best regards,

Jim (and possibly Carol) Hooper

Let's hear it for those travelin' So. Cal. boaters! What's up with all the owners up north? Gotta shake things up and get more No. Cal. participation for this year's Catalina binge.

Dear All-

As an update on the off-shore king salmon fishing. Last week many boats were catching their limits 3 miles out the Golden Gate. The fish were caught trolling with herrings and sardines, about 50 feet down, using 2 pound weights with a quick release.

This week the seas out the Gate are so rough that no one is even going out with breaking waves on the North and South Bars. Also, the salmon have disappeared this week. The weather and fish forecast is bad for the rest of this week.

Who knows what will happen in over a week from now. But just in case there is another turn-around we are bringing our salmon fishing stuff along on the off-chance that we could possibly go out of Sausalito Saturday morning for a few hours off-shore fishing. I will get an off-shore weather report and fishing report as we go through Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the trip to check out the possibility.

Yo Islander & Fishtales.....

We meet again at 0730 at Castaic McDonalds on Monday for the trip North. Should put us into Rio Vista around 1430. Bring lots of money for fuel.

Dear All:

Just a reminder. Try to bring along plenty of extra boat bumpers for your vessel, if you have them. At Wheeler Island we will be tied at least in tandem because one of the extended docks got blown away in last winter's storms. M/V Pounder is bringing along two big orange balls for tandem tie up at John's Place. Also, extra bumpers, if you have them, could give us additional flexibility at the other marina's.

Best regards,

:smiled

Fishtales and Sealife,

I will be there!! Yes, I went up last week with just my small SUV and it was $150 in gas there and back!!!

YIKES.
