05/17 - 05/19 - Friday Hbr CBGT, 2019

Mark, it'll be good to see you and factory folks at Friday. Are you planning to cruise over in the shop vessel you built in 2017? Regardless, I'll second what Starcraft Tom wrote, and add that you don't even need to raffle a new Tomcat. Unless you want to.

But Brats would probably like Tee-shirts and such, information about builds and possible plans, and just conversations with attendees.

See what happens when I take off for a week. WOW, Good to see you here on the site Mark. Thanks for joining and for asking. It would be great to see you there with whatever you bring that promotes C-Dory, the boats, the lifestyle and the choices. It will be great to see you there.

I have been wondering if there are any folks who would be interested in any type of class? Something similar to a Boat show type one hour or so. We have had BoatUS talks and demos before, and PFD demos and fishing stuff. I know, everybody here is smarter than the average bear, so I was thinking to tap into some of that and maybe spread some of the smart around. We have time both Friday and Saturday, and maybe even Sunday morning, but that seems like a not very popular time. Here are some possibilities:
Boating Safely hints
Electronics
PFD selections
Replacement of cartridges on inflatable PFD's
DSC use
VHF communications
Cheap Idea that works on your boat (Show and tell, 1 or 2 items)

I would be interested in hearing IF INTERESTED, and also on WHAT TOPIC.

Also, If you have a favorite topic that you would like to share on, That would be a big plus.

And, if you think this is a time wasting, too much bother, taking time from dock visiting idea, please say. It's OK to go that route too.

Harvey. i am always open to doing a ling cod class. I would do a shrimp class but I have not done as well for them. Also a tide chart vs current class or how about a reality vs noaa class? Ok that would just be me bitching alot but its still true.

We would like to attend the gathering. I came a couple of years ago and met a lot of nice people. At that time I was thinking of buying a C Dory. Last summer we purchased the QT and would like to attend this year’s get together.

It looks like there is plenty of interest and excitement leading up to the 2019 FH event and that is wonderful. I have talked with a few folks and there are some hands going up for specific tasks (christenings, Sat AM coffee/snacks, Class events, etc.) but we could still use a point person (or couple) for central contact and coordination with the port at least. They would likely also get delivery of the potluck supplies and fund to manage. For the folks who have been watching this thread, it has been about 6 weeks since the need for a new host was announced, and only about 7 more until the event. If you are interested but have more questions or concerns, just send us a PM or email at findmeoutside@hotmail.com and we can help.

Any takers.....?

Greg, I gave Mike at the port office my number so he could contact me if they had anything that needed to be communicated to the C-BRATS. I will be there this year for sure. Also, the VSC's are taken care of.

Localboy; Let me know if you have any questions about AZ. I've lived here for 20 years, but now leave during the hot months to WA. AZ has a lot to offer, and much more diverse than many people think.

. I will PM you at some point. Mahalo!

Didn't seem to get much interest in any type of classes. Wondering if a group cruise might have more interest. Maybe a a trip over to Sidney for Fish and Chips at "Fish on 5th", or a circumnav of San Juan Island, or a run up to Garrison Bay. Any takers?

I get that sometimes, especially when we get this big a group together, it is nice to just spend the time on the dock visiting with friends that we may only see once a year or even sometimes less than that.

Excellent,

-Harvey (hardee) has signed on to coordinate with the port and setup the potluck!
-Pat (Pat Anderson) will do any christenings for the event!
-Gary and Colleen (gary f) will do juice and perhaps pastries on the dock Saturday AM!
-Keith (Kfoote) has also voluteered to assist as needed

Thanks folks, and it looks like the event most definitely goes on for 2019. We will be getting the event supplies to the proper folks in the next few weeks and otherwise direct any questions about the event to this thread and someone will surely help out.

Have a good spring,

Ari

Hey Greg, and Cindy, Thanks for all your work in the previous CBGT's and for prodding this one along as well.

We will get it done, maybe not in as good a style as you did , but there will still be a gathering.

We will provide juice, donuts/pastries, cups and napkins for Saturday morning. What time Saturday morning do you want to meet for this and how many donuts/pastries should we buy? Do we need to coordinate with the Marina in the use of space at the end of the dock and will there be a table already in place? Any advice would be appreciated. Gary and Colleen.

Gary and Colleen, Thank for taking on that Sat AM breakfast. I like to eat early so 0530 would work   but most folks will probably be happy with 0730 +/- I think that to about 0830 would cover most.

I will confirm with the Port, but I believe we have the "party dock" available for anytime over the weekend, and I'd be surprised if at least for Saturday. I will find out and post the party dock times here as soon as I get that info.

As to the numbers, I think we may need to wait until a couple weeks out for a closer count on the boat numbers. You can generally count on each vessel having a crew of 2, with a few that have more and few that have singlehanders there. There is a sign-up sheet going now with 25 vessels signed up.

Looking forward to returning to the Friday Harbor Gathering. Will be landlubbers again, leaving our little 16ft. Angler at home. Puget Sound is big water to us still!

Paul and Vicky

Things are coming together for the Saturday morning (7am to 9am) breakfast meeting at the end of 'Breakwater A'/end of H-Dock. Harvey will have napkins, plates, cups and plastic utensils for us. Thank you Harvey. We will have the Donuts, Pastries and Juice drinks.

We need someone to bring a coffee pot, provide coffee, along with another pot to supply hot water for tea and hot cocoa. If someone could please step up on this and bring these items along with tea bags and cocoa, that would be great! We cannot do this because of our continued travel Sunday morning to BC and our boat will be fully packed.

Thank you in advance for somebody stepping up to provide this. A warm beverage in hand will make conversation go better, will make those donuts go down easier and taste better too!

I am looking at putting a charger system on my truck to boat rig so that I can charge the boat batteries while towing. There is another thread about that here:

http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=16630&highlight=

and I may be ordering a kit to do it with. It is called "Toad-Charge" and the link is here:

http://www.lslproducts.net/ToadChargePage.html

There is a price decrease if they are purchased in a pack of 5. Anyone coming to Friday Harbor interested in going in on this. (I am going to order the 60 foot kit (if I do order). and will know by this weekend.

Please PM me if interested.
