05/17 - 05/19 - Friday Hbr CBGT, 2019

It looks like Limpet is in. Put me down for a Friday or Saturday CG inspection.

I usually wait for the last minute to sign up for anything (if I even sign up before I show up). That being said, I'm planning on hosting next year's Seattle Boat Show dinner get together (dates to be announced). How's that for planning ahead? I would have done it this year but I found out too late that Beth booked 10 days in Hawaii during the boat show and I had to go.

Mark

Hey Mark, Sure sorry you "had to go" to that thing in Hawaii. I'd a been glad to go for you, but then I would have missed all those great classes at the SBS this year.

I looks like we may be able to have SG VSC inspections done on both days. There will be a sign up sheet on the dock to sign up for a time slot. I still need to have those interested please continue to post for that.

Looking forward to a great time with great folks.

We would also like to have a CG Inspection. We plan to arrive early afternoon on Friday. Thank you Harvey for setting this up. Gary and Colleen.

Daydream would like an inspection.

In the interest of keeping this gathering simple, I think people should plan on making their own coffee and fixing their own breakfasts. If anyone else wants to take breakfast on that is certainly fine.

Pat, I think that's a good idea. Keeps things simple like you say. We can just mingle and visit sipping home brewed coffee or bourbon while we talk boats, breakfast or brunch.
Harvey, thanks for your inspection connections!
Keith, thank you for your to-do list. And Mark, gosh, I think you'll get a good boat show rendezvous response. Especially a year in advance. That should entitle you to another shoe box full of last-minute signup coupons.

Broch, I agree with Pat and you. Breakfast can be simple, and then we can sleep in if we want.

Barry and Patti, Oh so great to hear you are going to be there. Look forward to seeing you two. If you need a ride, you are always welcome.

Anxiously awaiting this May gig.

Just a reminder that we will have Vessel Safety Checks available, on both (probably) Friday and Saturdays. That may depend on how many boats are signed up for checks. For those new to the VSC I am linking the form and the explanation site below.

Here is a link to the Vessel Safety Check for that is used when the inspector visits your boat:

Here is an explanation of what they are looking for that parallels the inspection sheet from the previous link:

Just went through the posts for the 2019 FHCBGT and saw that
Greg and Cindy are ready to pass the baton; also saw some comments about the difficulty of being a host. First many thanks to Greg and Cindy for doing such a good job. Patti and I started the FHCBGT in 2008? after the group decided to move from Fisherman's Bay on Lopez. We hosted for several years and passed the hosting to Greg and Cindy. For us, hosting was not hard or a big burden. We got there a day early and left on our own schedule, usually Sunday mid-day. Since the Brats have been coming to Friday Harbor for years the routine is pretty well established. They pencil us in for Mid May, know about how many boats will be there and the discounts are well established. We would normally go to FH a month or two ahead of the dates to have face time with various folks and make sure the harbormaster is set. (really a chore to go to FH for a weekend) We used to arrange for Vessel Safety Checks, sometimes factory reps together with freebies, rented tables from a rental place in FH, replenished the plasticware, plates, cups, etc. (there was always plenty in the tip jar to cover all costs and pass on for the next year). We used to have a pretty big dinner on Friday/Saturday night, don't know what the brats are doing now. My point is, its not hard but does take some planning. We always felt completely appreciated by the group and encourage the gathering continue.

Cle, we are happy to know that you will be attending the Friday Harbor event this year. We are looking forward to this great event along with you. You will have a great time and meet so many nice C-Brats people and get to see alot of great C-Dory boats. Gary and Colleen.

We are super excited for our very first eVENT, cannot wait !

Howdy and great to hear we have another C-Dory in the neighborhood and look forward to meeting, maybe see you on the water in the area. I'm a frequent floater at Mystery Bay so will keep an eye out. If you want to run across the Strait together, maybe that can work. Stay safe.

Cle, we look forward to meeting you. I think you'll have fun.
And Barry, really nice to hear from you as well, and delighted you and Patti can attend this year. Are you thinking of getting back into boating, or are you fully content exploring via land yacht?

Show up, bring bling and please give us an update as to what is going on with the c-dory line. Maybe bring a new boat to show upgrades or even use the event to your advantage as a ride day in a new boat. You got that list of interested parties from the boat show that want rides I am sure, please tell me you have that?? Rides in my boat are useless because its a model not made any longer , but If I had my 22 still I would volunteer my boat for rides for say a new jacket and tank full of gas. I am sure if you asked you could get a couple of volunteers for that low low low price with out bringing your own new boats. One of each model. Oh and raffle off a new 225 cat!!!! hey it was worth a shot.

Earlier I said there was a 50/50 chance I would be attending again this year. With some more planning for an Inside Passage trip this summer, I'm going to forego the trip thru the San Juans this year. Just adds several more weeks to an already long time away from home. Perhaps next year. Colby
