05/16 - 05/20 - 5th Annual Delta/Bay Extravaganza

Mike Sealife-

I am in shock! We will certainly miss your perfect attendance. Now with you not coming, I am the only one that will have attended the Extravaganza all five years. Guess I will have to give the 5-year award to myself! Hope to see you in Catalina.

Seriously, sorry, that you will not be able to attend. You have been a loyal and enthusiastic attendee for a long time.

OK, everyone else, we now have one (1) slot open for anyone who would like to take Sealife's place. First come, first served. Step right up to be the 10th C-Dory Vessel on the 5th Extravaganza. This is an exclusive event and here is a rare second chance for some lucky C-Brat.

Sincerely,

Pounder

Jim....Do you have any idea how to find Dan of Zoe's Pride ??? I sure would like to see him come with us....I would love to hear his stories of his Alaska trip....

Joel-

I agree with you. I also enjoyed his colorful presence.

I have lost track of him and have not heard or see of him for some while. I forget, but I think he lived in Martinez or Benicia.

Sincerely,

Jim

SEA3PO will bring coffee and OJ. We're looking forward to the trip and seeing everyone.

Roxie will be staying home with our daughter...Joel is already missing her...but the possums that sit on our fence each evening would miss her too much if she took a few nights off.

A quick recap for everyone at the Extravaganza.

We still have room for one (1) more C-Dory due to Mike Sealife dropping out. We have reservations for ten vessels at three marina's and we only have nine boate now.

This is great opening for a newcomer to join the party at the last minute. We are waiting to hear from someone!

Regarding food for Thursday breakfast this is the volunteer list:

1. Coffee, milk, and sugar - Steve SeaSpray
2. Orange juice - Joel and Susan SEA3PO
3. Hash browns, bread, butter, and jam - Steve Swanny Dora-Jean
4. Pastry - Sam and Kerry Salty -C's
5. Fresh Fruit Bowl - Brent and Dixie Discovery.

Thanks everyone. We will not starve!! Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Sincerely,

Jim and Kath

PS-

John and Robbin are making Nat's (Ron and Natalie Islander) bed in the master bed room of the Duck Club as we speak.

Mike Sealife, you need to reconsider. If you don't show up you will be still engraved in history even though you finked out!

Wish I could reconsider, but I've got a meeting on Wednesday night, and a two day patrol up in Santa Barbara on Friday and Saturday. I'm in charge of both events, so I really can't avoid them. I'll be with you in spirit, though.

Dear All:

Just checked the long-range weather forecast for next week. The forecast shows sunny skys for next Wednesday through Sunday, with no precipatation!

Lets hope this "good weather" holds up and the winds are kind to us!

Hi Jim,

I have also been watching the winds. We have had some nasty (like last year) winds and some average ( 15 to 20) winds. We have even had nasty winds in the delta with little wind on the bay.

So far it is looking pretty good. We may luck out this year with light winds mornings and nights and 10 to 20 knts during the afternoons.

I am hoping for the best - light winds all 5 days.

Steve

Discovery and Wild Blue will be in Rio Vista early afternoon on Tues. We will launch and stay overnight in the marina. Looking forward to seeing all of you again, and introducing the Wild Blue crew to the California Brats.

Speaking for Jim, he has to make all of the arrangements and reservations in early February due to the popularity of this area, so commitments must be made early. But there is a limiting factor, # of boats for reservations, becomes much more difficult (and sometimes impossible) as the boat #'s exceed 10 or so at some of the locations he has chosen.

IMPORTANT!!

I drove on Hy12 today and it looks like it will be closed from 7am to 4pm starting at the hy5 offramp.

Here is what I found on the caltrans site -

M12FA 12 SJ 0 10.2 05/15/07 05/17/07 7:01 16:01 EB/WB Begin: SJ/SAC CO LINE
End: "5 RMPS
Restriction: Full highway closure
Reason: Road Maintainance-Misc Works

If I were coming from the south I would take 580 and then take back roads to Brentwood were I live. Then hope on hy 4 to 160 to Rio Vista. I am only about 15mi from Rio Vista.

If I were coming from the north I would take the exit off hy5 that goes to Walnut Grove which is on hy160 north of Rio Vista then follow 160 south to 12.

If you can travel before of after the closed times it should be okay.

If you want more local info you can call me.

A couple more things about hy 12 closer.

I would not recomend taking hy4 from Stockton - it has a curvy section and one narrow bridge. It is do-able, semi-trucks do it, but might not be fun.

My PC has been invaided by some bad software so I may not be able to post much until I get it fixed.
