Brock,
I think you'd look good in your blue blazer & topsiders, but you'd probably get thrown in the water if you showed up at Lopez dressed for the regatta.

Sorry to say I dont think I will be able make Lopez this year.....But I am cruising the Betty in new waters. I keep her on Lake Ponchartrain in Slidell LA, a brief cruise away from Lake Borgne and the Gulf of Mexico. Water is a bit different down here, folks. Lake P is typically 10 - 15 feet deep and 20+ miles across. Long fetch, shallow depth, watch out for the chop! Water temp currently about 68 deg F. Air temp typically mid 70's end of March. Summer brutal. Tons of FISH! Cruising the rivers off Lake Ponchartrain and Lake Maurepas (say Mawrapaw) is quite different than what Peg, Me and the Betty are accustomed to. Gator, Egrets, Blue Herron, Nutrea (picture a cross between a beaver and rat!). Most folks down here either have sail boats, big cruisers or center consoles. I'd estmate 0.5% cruisers and sailboats and 99.5% center consoles. Needless to say, the Betty gets more than a few second glances. Hope all is well with you folks. I miss you alot. But this is defninitely an adventure I am savoring. Lets see if I can post a few pics....

Lake Ponchartrain? Isn't that like somewhere down south? What the cripe are you doing there? That's too cool. I think I drove across that lake on the world's longest causeway one time leaving the Kenner airport, didn't I? I had to stay in town a couple days because the causeway was shut down for ice about 6 inches thick.

Yeah, pictures for sure are in order. You got an album on here, and I even made it easy to find.

Have fun (some more)!

We just signed up for opening day to Lopez Island. It will be fun to put some faces to the names we've seen on this site. Since my wife and I are newbies, we were wondering if anyone was leaving from Twin Bridges on Friday, perhaps we could follow.

C-dancer, Susan and I always leave from twin bridges when going to the islands. I do not know if we will leave early or late friday ,depends on work, but you are more then welcome to follows us out . Its a easy shot really. Lopez is one of our favorite places. I do not know if they will have the band going in the bar by then but I sure hope they do. And bring a bathing suit for the hot tub. I forgot last time.

C-Dancer,
We'll have our boat at Twin Bridges Marina by then and intend to leave from there on Friday. Just like Tom, we're not sure when we'll be leaving yet. Depends on work, so probably late afternoon on Friday. You're more than welcome to head across with us when we get there. You'll also want to monitor Channel 68 when on the water. There's usually some chatter from C-Brats that are running around the area.

C-Dancer,

Will be leaving Friday from Guemes Is. which is the island you are looking directly at as you come out of the Shinomish Channel leaving Twin Bridges. Like Lyle said, moniter 68, that is the C-Pods comm channel. Should have the new 25 a week by then and have enough hours on it that I can keep up.

Just spoke with Kathy, she says she still has Catman & Fred down for 31 boats between them. Looks like 16 are signed up as of today. She would like a call updating info! Too bad boat length (no, not dingy length) is not included on the sign up sheet, or I'd a just read them of to her!

David, Lyle & Tom,

Thanks for your replies. We're still trying to figure out when we'll be leaving as well. It will probably be in the afternoon sometime. When we figure it out, we'll make the arrangments. Thanks for the tip on channel 68 as well.

Looking forward to meeting y'all.

hey fred! the sentiment is most mutual.

tyboo, basically it was raw unadulterated greed and ambition that brought me down here from paradise. and youre right. that causeway is loooooong.

peg and i are heading out now to take the betty out. forecast calling for 80 F and 5 - 10 kt wind. think i may be dropping a line in the water today and see what happens....

take good care, all of you.

I am pretty sure David will have the supersized Anna Leigh for Lopez, but we are about a week behind more or less, a little nerve-racking whether the new Daydream will be done by then or not...this next week should tell a lot, Patty will go next Friday in the morning to take some pix and check things out, assuming it is back from Monroe. And reading a few of the posts here recently, we want to give it a fairly good QC inspection before we pull out of the factory anyway...We'll be there, with or without the new boat!

YO, Mr Catruisemasterman, for those of us with a fear of commitment (or is it fear of being commited, I can't remember) does a person need a reservation, if so, how far in advance? If I have a reservation, can I build a casino?

I like "Catmandu" best so far - but "Catruisermasterman" is not totally awful either!
