05/06 - 05/07 - Lopez Opening Day

Man, you're a task master. Okay, as my first directive, I'd like to say I'm glad that other guy is finally off the front page. Dude, you should have charged moorage.

Dan & Jan "Nine Inches" :cocktail :P

Dan & Jan,

Welcome to the group!

At the top of the front page is a link to event signups. Click there and then use the drop down menu to get to the signup list for Lopez.

Catman knows the details for the slips. Maybe he will post the information here.

Hi, Dan and Jan. Glad you can make it to Lopez May 6-8.

I just called Kathy at Lopez Marina to tell her I believe we'll have 15 C-Dorys gathering there Opening Day. Our sign-up sheet shows 12 boats, though I think three Brats are now or soon boatless. But I imagine some who haven't yet signed up are planning to show.

Moorage again is free Friday and Saturday. Cool, eh? But call Kathy at (360)468-3383 to let her know you're coming. She wants an accurate idea of how many and what size boat.

By the way, I didn't get slip assignments. Likely later. I didn't push her for them because I'm not a pushy guy, I guess. Maybe I should have. Okay, I forgot. Ask her about that when you call. But I'm not concerned because she'll have room for all of us.

Brock,
I called Kathy at the Lopez Islander to reserve our slip today. She was a little confused, as she had 15 reserved under Fred's name and 16 reserved under your name and wasn't sure of how many of each length we had coming. I guess that's what you get when you have an anti-club boat club with anti or roving leadership and non follower members. She wasn't really concerned, and didn't want to reserve by boat or person name. She just wanted an idea of how many of each length were coming.

Are we getting close to appointing a Commodore replete with topsiders, braid and a blue blazer to herd all of the cats or Cats? Or maybe we're starting to convert the marinas and they're getting laid back and disorganized too? Don't get me wrong, I like the disorganization. One of my educated brother-in-laws called me an iconoclast during a Thanksgiving day dinner discussion. After I looked it up, I liked the discription and decided I resembled that remark.

Well, looking at the state of the new Daydream CD25 on Friday, we have a glimmer of hope that we might have a boat for the Lopez weekend - handheld GPS and portable VHF will do just fine, thanks...Not counting on it, but hopeful!

Brock will take the lead on this one. We will most likely be boatless by then and will be coming by pavement/state floating steal. Brock is a very organized individual with great attention to detail. I am more that happy to help in our deminished capacity if possible.

Fred

Kate and I should be able to do Lopez in the new boat. Like Pat and Patti, no electronics. Portable radio will do fine. Been there, know how to get there and back.

So put us down for 25 feet of space.

Lyle, nice message. But it made me wonder why nobody ever called me an iconoclast before. You were just being you, sitting there eating turkey. And to think, I work so hard, and get labeled conservative.

Fred, that's nice of you to say, but I don't know if it's true. Organization and attention to detail are traits rarely exhibited, and usually manifest only in Bambina's confined quarters.

Lyle, I'm glad you called Lopez. I think I remember Kathy asking me when I called if my Opening Day Brat information was in addition to that which Fred had already reserved. I might have been speaking Spanish that day, so maybe I confused her. But when I hung up I believed she expected about 15 boats, and that I'd get back to her regarding length.

I'll put on my blue blazer and call her Monday with more specifics.

Brock,
I didn't mean to call you or Fred disorganized. I meant that the spirit of the C-Brats is disorganization, and I think that's a good thing. It keeps us from taking ourselves too seriously. I do think we're rubbing off on the marinas, Kathy seemed really relaxed about it, just wanted to know approximately how many were going to show up, and the length of the boats. I think you'd look good in your blue blazer & topsiders, but you'd probably get thrown in the water if you showed up at Lopez dressed for the regatta.
