Looks like the general consensus is that Lopez on Opening Weekend is going to be an annual affair. Who wants to head it up?

Folks, I split these posts from the Lopez 2004 thread. Looks like the discussion is turning into a 2005 planning topic.

I think DaveS already volunteered for that...

Pat,
If I didn't mention it before, in a month or so, I'll make the arrangements and tend to the details for the Lopez Islander Opening Weekend of Boating Season Cruise. (Should be the weekend of 5/1 and 5/2).

Feeling stricken, we must miss Blakely - if we go to Powell for the week 4/26 - 4/30, we will be driving back 5/1 amd 5/2 while you all are at Blakely. Hoist one for us!

Don't you mean Lopez? :sad

We're in, unless theres a small craft advisory forecasted. Looking forward to seeing the rest of you. Will stay tuned in for the details.

It might be close whether our boat is ready or not by then, but if it is we will definitely be there.

Scott and Laurie,
Hopefully your vessel will be ready, but if it isn't you can still join us, as there are rooms available at the Lopez Islander Resort. You wouldn't be the first to attend sans vessel.

Jeff and Diane will be there for the first C-Brat Cruise with the Immacu-nada! We look forward to it. You are all such a fun bunch and we can't wait to meet even more of you!!

Now that I've signed up I guess I need to ask the question...Where on Lopez Island are we gathering? I have viewed the pictures from last year and would almost assume we are targeting Fisherman Bay again this year. (Last time I made an assumption like that I ended up all alone).

We are also planning on the Lopez gathering. It will be our first trip to the San Jaun's. Can someone suggest a good launching site. I was thinking Deception Pass or Anacortes. How about moorage at Fisherman Bay. Who do we contact, (which marina). Do we set up our own arrangements or are we going as a group?

Since I volunteered to be "group moderator", I've made the following arrangements.

This morning I phoned the Lopez Islander Marina Resort at Fisherman's Bay on Lopez Island. I spoke with Kathy who has assisted us in this gathering for the past three years.
I made reservations for 15 C-Dorys (sizes 16' to 25') for the nights of Fri. 4/30 and Sat. 5/1. Kathy did not make the offer of free slips this year and quoted me the following cost structure of $24.95 for vessels up to and including 25' and $29.95 for vessels 26'-30'. (If I'm not mistaken this includes shore power).
This year we are unable to secure the recreational room (as it is now an exercise room) for our traditional Sat. night BBQ, but I did rent the private dining room. We will still be able to BBQ outside, but we will be unable to do the "Liquor Store Group Gathering Licensing" as in the past and will be constricted to not consuming "bring in alcohol" and instead if we wish to drink, we'll be at the mercy of purchasing from the bar. (Obviously, this will not inhibit me from consuming on the dock prior to our migration to the dining room).
For further information regarding the site you may view www.lopezislander.com For those of you planning to attended sans vessel or don't wish to sleep on your vessel, rooms are available to rent and can be viewed on their website.
To secure your reservations you may call Kathy at 1-800-736-3434. After counting the number of vessels that have already signed up to attend on our "Event Signup" thread, I'm guessing that I did not tell Kathy to hold an adequate number of slips....therefore I encourage you to call now and make the reservations. (I'm sure more slips are available). Additionally be sure to tell Kathy you are with all those C-Dorys.

Thanks for the quick reply. Are we going to see the SSSS at Lopez?
Terry

If you don't see the SSSS at Lopez, please return to Rosario Strait and look for the three of us swimming across the Strait with the dog and the BBQ for Saturday nights potluck! :crook

From the charts and write-ups I am planning on launching from the Skyline Marine in Flounder Bay on Friday morning. Does anyone have any experience with this facility? Is this a good plan or is there a better option?
