04/27 - 04/29 - Upper Cumberland River Cruise

CPT PATRICK CAMPBELL: You have your secret squirl e-mail defense on and I can not email you... so... email me and I can/will send directions and stuff to you for the gathering.

Now, having said that...my personal email that I forward my c-brat stuff from....has a very high secret squirl setting itself...so be sure to put C-DORY in the subject line of what ever email you send me as to knot get it trashed.

Looking forward to seeing and meeting you. Spent this weekend on C-Byrd with some other Ohio folks down from Dayton. Great time!!

Is it possible that you are the one I met on the Ohio river in September around Cincinnati when I first bought C-Pearl? Either way I'm still looking forward to the get together. Thanksgiving was a great time even though it was real cold.Fall06185.thumb.jpg
It was 22* that morning and ice on everything.
Byrdman should we put our order in with you for the sausage or are we road tripping to Rice's? :smiled

byrdman and jeff,
byrdman, sorry about the email problem, my office email is info@autohomelife.net and my individual office email is patrick@autohomelife.net, either one should work. thanks for sending directions, my wife and i are looking forward to the trip.

jeff, very well could have been me and my wife. i recall cruising down the ohio, just before downtown cincinnati, and a boat stopped us, several of the guys had bet whether our c-dory was a 25 or 22' . also recall that person mentioning he was or had placed an order to purchase a c-dory.
i will say, being stopped is not unusual. it seems these boats draw a lot of attention. our 22' has the radar arch with radar dome, search light mounted on the center roof forward. green canvas. misty seas named on the side, just below the windows. let me know if that was you.

best regards to all.
see you guys soon.
pat

Sorry Jeff.... Mr. Rice and his crew are "comfortable",,....seasonal workers. I think they do a one shot type of year...meaning order all the stuff, work it up/process it....then... just let Mother Nature work on it till next Thanksgiving/Christmas season. But, I will see if I can find Ed Rice, and see if he has a stash in his freezer.

Brother Mike???? Anything in your freezer??

Roger Johnson (SENSEI) forgot his in my frige as he departed....and I "stored" it for him in omlets... Yes Roger...I know I owe you a few pounds of this wonderful local sausage.

Rob, I use Yahoo.com maps and they are pretty good for zooming in.

From Franklin... you may find it easier/less junk to take 840 rather than going thru Nashville & taking I-40 east to Mt. Juliet exit 226..... But, either way...you will end up in Mt. Juliet, at I-40, exit 226

Recommendation from Franklin and or any of you coming North on I-65: Exit I-65 on exit # 59. Take Hwy 840E , cross I-24, staying on 840 to I-40W. Travel 3 miles on I-40W to Mt. Juliet exit 226, Go North on Mt. Juliet Rd to Hwy70, Turn Right on Hwy 70, fuel up boats at Kangaroo on right, then continue on 70. Turn Left on Benders Ferry (CITCO). Launch site is Lone Branch on yer left about 3.7 miles off of Hwy 70/Lebanon Road.

hi mike i like the the screens for your forward windows also your canvas works look great . I was wondering how the price compares with florida prices ? how busy is he I will be bringing the /duck up to tenn this summer and renting up in tenn and maybe getting our house started on lake tellico

brother, the stuff from rice's lasts about as long as a snowball in hadies around here  i suppose with all the exposer to mr. ed's stuff i should stockpile some stuff for these kinds of occasions. i have ed's cell number and will see what is is in cold storage, if anything, cause he likes his stuff to be REALLY fresh. the list of what is available is probably gonna be shorter than the " boy i wish i had some..." :) i will call ed tommorow and see what is available.

jennykatz, how ya' doin?
i talked to bill at length about the move to telico while at the SBS, and the plan sounds great 8) the canvas job was, i thought , reasonable and the workmanship excellent with a two year warranty...joe thompson tells you when you pick up the boat " wear it for a week or two and make notes, then i want it back to tweek it up" 8) :D . :D we don't have to return this time, or the last five times with two other boats to "tweek" anything.
the cost of my canvas job was right around $1700.00. we had the side curtains, back curtain, all the privacy curtains, side window screens, and the captains chair upholstered. the pics on GYPSY'S photo album should depict the work, if not, i suppose you and bill will just have to make a gathering and see for yourselves 8) :D :cocktail :beer !!! oh! by the way...all the vee berth, and dinette cushions are his work 8) :D
as with most real craftsmen, joe wants the boat on his lot to do the work. i don't have the foggiest (no pun DEW) how this price compares with florida prices :sad i do know i am (and so is the first mate"B", most importantly  ) tickled with the job he did :D

 sorry jennykatz!
forgot to answer the "is he busy" question! YES this is his busiest time of the year. toward the end of the summer he goes to a panic only mode other than a full bore linier panic mode. january and february are the "get it back quick" times. i got mine in at the third week in february and it took a week to get the boat back. hope this info helps :D

Our plan at this point is to travel with the group from Friday to Sunday morning. On Sunday, we need to go back through the lock as soon as it opens to begin the trip back downstream. We would like to be back to Lone Branch by mid to later afternoon.

Anyone else have similar plans? Although not absolutely necessary, it would be nice to be able to travel with someone on the return leg.

Rob & Karen

Things are starting to gel a bit.....

Backing into the schedule a bit (backwards planning at its best  )

Two of our boats will need to retrieve their boats and depart the area around noon on Sunday, 29Apr07: Rob & Karen on Life of Riley, and Rick and Donna on Foggy Dew. Others are scheduling to be back in the Lone Branch area on Monday, 30Apr07. I will need to be in Bayou la Batre, AL 8am Tuesday, 1Apr07 for Sea School/6-pac license course...followed by a trip up to Oak Harbor, WA for a few days. Having said that... I may to return for the Sunday pull out...rather than travel back alone on Monday...depending on go home dates of others. Mike & B plan to stay out and return on Tuesday....

Fast foward to the front of this gig... looking like 3 of us will depart the ramp area around noonish on Thursday, 26Apr07 heading down river thru Old Hickory Lock & Dam, and making the Downtown Nashville City Docks for some historic Nashville time on Thursday night... then return to be back in the Lone Branch area on Friday around 11-noonish... for the upriver journey. Nashville Leg with have the 3 C's: C-Byrd, C-Eagle & C-Pearl

Now... the stuff in the middle I am following Mike and Brenda's lead on due to their much, much more time on the river and knowing the dockmasters and cheifs up river. No need getting way into detail on the middle....as we are still 30+ days out..... and we will be on "river time..(using the sun"ish")..but for sure it will be fun. :thup :smiled

Yep, Jeff... what I'd like to do with you and Cathy is for us to splash your boat Wednesday afternoon, tie up at Mom's dock, then get thru Nashville to Clarksville around 430pm as to have dinner & stay over at our home in Clarksville. Sherryl missedsher Montgomery friends and this would help...then....we just let the Nashville morning funk trafic clear....and head back out to the river.

CPT D: I feel sure in a PM or email... you told me of your travel plans...but right now today I can not put my eyes on it. Please update me...as to include who all will be traveling with you... Sorry.

Another point of interest on this trip is Mike is taking off Monday and Tuesday from his job....so...that would allow some who can to travel a bit further up river.. which is really nice... and needs to be done for sure if your travel schedule will allow it.

Others interested in signing up??? or... do we need to go ahead and start locking in dock reservations????? Do tell.

Sorry, but we're going to have to bow out of this one due to unexpected company.

We sure hope you folks have a great cruise...we'll catch ya again another time. Be safe out there!

Rick & Donna

Request has been made for the GPS coordinates of the ramp area so here they are, as well as the coordinates for Benders Ferry Road, and Hwy 70.

HWY 70 & BENDERS FERRY GPS: N 36.13.906 W 086.29.464

Now, from Hwy 70 on Benders Ferry, go 3.7 miles (slow down at 3.6..) and the entrance to the Lone Branch ramp area is on your left. Ramps are down and to the left.
GPS COORDINATES OF RAMP AREA: N 36.16.986 W 086.30.143

RICK AND DONNA: BUMMER MAN.... WHAT YA GONNA DO ABOUT YOUR CANVAS WORK?? IF YA NEED US TO GO DRAG YOUR BOAT SOMEWHERE WHEN COMPLETED TO GET IT OFF THEIR LOT, LET US KNOW. CANVAS SLOTS ARE HARD TO GET THIS TIME OF YEAR...

Just had the pleasure of once again talking with Bill and Brenda Russel from AR... They are getting their boat fixed and will make the gathering!! This will be great to see these folks...and hear some of the inside stories from Bill and his Brother's trip to the Keys....

Bill.... I promise smoother water...and no salt...unless you order it with your beverage...

Rob and Karen,

Our plans are to return to Lone Branch on Sunday as well. We would like to reach the ramp sometime around early to mid afternoon.

It would be great to travel with you.

Richard and Cheryle
