How about a Lake Powell cruise, sometime around April 16? We can celebrate the end of tax season with a cool spring cruise on the (arguably) most beautiful lake in the Southwest. Anyone interested?

Looks like the dates are set for 4/23 - 4/25. Cruise is on the Calendar. Here's the signup sheet

The end of tax season for us is usually when the extension runs out in August! We'd love to, but work schedule just won't allow anything much longer than 3-4 days off at a time...

April 16th--Lake Powell--sounds like a plan & have marked it on our calender :D We have driven by Lake Powell a couple of times & have been fascinated with the beauty. since moving out west & acquiring our C-Dory we have dreamed about trailering it to Lake Powell. Can't imagine better tour guides. We'll be there--just tell us when & where. :D

We would suggest a gathering at Wahweap Marina, near Page, AZ. There is a good launch ramp there, plenty of free parking, good marina, and a nice place to camp up the hill for those with campers. Also there is a restaurant with a million dollar view of the lake.
Pat and Patty -- maybe you could extend a few days and take a vacation? You folks would love the lake.
Nice to see the interest about a gathering.

El & Bill, We have purchased maps of the lake & have routed our way to Wahweap Marina. Needless to say, we are ready.

Hi, Everyone,

There are two Lake Powell Cruises being organized on the C-DOG site; one in the Spring, and one in the Fall. This week, we'll have sign-up sheets posted for both cruises. Right now, we are trying to zero in on dates, and it's looking like April 16 and September 17 for start dates.

If you go to the Lake Powell '04 thread, you can start to express your interest.

Both will begin at Wahweap Marina (the main marina closest to Page, AZ). I know there were several C-Brats that expressed an interest, and everyone is invited!

Hi, Wade & Lois,

There are now signup sheets for both the Spring and Fall Lake Powell Cruises. It's best that you sign up, since that way you can include your dates and comments.

Our Spring travel schedule is getting pretty tight, but hopefully I'll be able to make the April trip. Look forward to meeting you.

Whoa!!! Sorry. I should have checked with El before suggesting the April 16 date for the Lake Powell Gathering. She tells me we are obligated to be in Santa Fe that weekend. Can we shift the date to the next weekend, April 23rd? Hope this doesn't mess things up for folks already planning on the cruise, but perhaps we've caught my mistake early enough so that the date can be changed without too much inconvenience. We sure would like to be there for the Gathering. Thanks.

Well, April 23 is a better date for us - Patty and Austin would just barely be back from their trip to France and Spain (an educational tour through Austin's school) for the April 16 date. Not a done deal for the 23rd but seriously thinking about it - Page, AZ, according to my AAA of Washington TripTik service is 1245 miles, 21 hours driving time...so we have 7 days off, 2 down, 3 there, and 2 back...just MIGHT be do-able!

Wow! Sounds like a great trip for Patty and Austin -- educational, eh? What a good experience. Don't you need some educat'n also, Pat.

Sure would be great to see you on Lake Powell. Another (expensive) alternative for you folks -- fly to Page and rent a houseboat. This would give you more time on the water, wouldn't have to pull your boat such a long distance, you would tie off in a cove and be the center of social activities (aka lots of C-Bums crawling around your houseboat near dinner time for some of Patty's famous foods), and there would be lots of C-Dorys tied off nearby for hitching rides to view the daytime exploration treats of the Sou'west's most beautiful lake -- that's educational, also. (You'll even have a resident geologist who has mapped that country back in the Paleolithic). I

In fact, perhaps others in the NW would want to join on the houseboat deal -- they hold 12 or more folks -- take the cost and divide by the number of folks, and that makes it a more reasonable alternative.

Maybe a gang of you Nor'westers (fly or drive) to Page and share the rental houseboat and another gang of Sou'westers pull their boats to the lake and we have a party!

Geeze -- that sounds like an exciting dream ... So, what do you think, Daydreamers?

:( Looks like Lois & I won't be able to make the Lake Powell trip this April. Opening day for the greenhouses is April 24. Lots of stuff to be done to get ready. I'm putting our name on the September list & come hell or high water we'll make that one.

Wade --
Any chance of getting down to Lake Mojave for the Gathering there next month? A long trip, but a pretty lake -- not the spectacular sheer walls of Powell, but some mighty dramatic scenary. If you have lots of time, there's also Lake Mead before or after the Mojave cruise.
Our kid in Tucson (a biologist) reports that the spring wildflowers are starting to perk up and it looks like a good flower spring in the offing. Also, we're told the fishing is good in both lakes. Trying all kinds of inducements, aren't we? And, there's always Vegas over the hill if that holds any interest. (Can't blame us for trying, eh?)

OK, Lake Powell. We have pretty much decided to try the long drive, leave after work on Friday April 23, maybe get a couple of hundred miles before stopping. We will then push 500 miles each day Saturday and Sunday. This will let us stay on the boat Monday through Friday. Then we will leave Friday in late afternoon and be home Sunday night. This way we get five days on the lake with the equivalent of 5 days of driving. Not ideal, but our goal is to get Daydream on Lake Powell!

:( It's very difficult for us to get away in April or early May--we definitely plan on Lake Powell in September. We are interested in going to Lake Roosevelt sometime during the end of May or early June--anyone interested? :D

April 23-25...Sound great for us too !! I just re-did my busy schedule...this retirement stuff is hard... I often wonder how I ever got anything done when I was working.... busy, busy, busy....(playing)

Hey, Pat & Patti and All,

So sorry that I can't make the April Powell trip. I was really looking forward to meeting you folks.

You're gonna love it. May be a long drive, but there is nothing else that looks quite like it. It'll certainly be a change from what you're accustomed to. Make sure your camera battery is up!

And whatever pictures you take, make sure you ask Bill (of El & Bill fame), what you may be looking at, because he can sure tell you!

Have great fun!
