04/15 - 04/16 - Cathlamet, WA

Larry, that sounds very interesting and could be a lot of fun. Depending on what we are allowed to do fishing wise though, I dont think I'd want to commit to anything in the early AM or during the tide changes. Fortunately that leaves the area from 11-2 pretty open. Others who don't fish will probably have a different attitude. What are the "sights" in the area that we might want to see?

Roger

wow, that sounds like a kick in the @#*&, sign us up. That breakfast run would be nice or an evening run for wine and crumpets...It's got to fit in with the backwater tour to Astoria...We're boycotting fishing this year out of respect for CatyMae n Steve. :)

Do we need to get a hold of the harbor master between now and then and reserve a spot?

I appreciate the sentiment. While I won't be boycotting, if I do catch a springer and then filet and eat it, I'll go easy on the lemon...

Larry,

I'd be up for a trip to the glass studio and gallery. The old covered bridge with the tavern nearby sounds good too especially if they serve a good lunch. Finally the wildlife refuge would be good too. I assume that we'll need refuge from the wildlife that B~C will be creating on Fri. evening... :cocktail :beer

HEY, maybe we could load up on the trolley and go over and tour the mill at Wanna

LOL!! That's a classic.

The reservations are already made with the harbormaster just like last year. She's expecting about 20 boats. We might be rafting boats. If the fishing season closes early I expect the harbor to thin out.

DOH! Don't do that Ken....go ketch all the law will allow! We'll fish vicariously :moon

It's gotten so bad round here....(how bad is it?) I was dreaming the other night that I caught 2 fish on one piece of bait....the smaller of the 2 caught was getting away and was flopping its way down the bank back to the river....I reached out to clamp onto it...but all I got was Steve's head!

He said, "what're you doin?" I answered, "fishin." He said, "ok then" and went back to sleep :-)

getting close, I had better clean the road grim off the boat so it looks presentable. Probably should load up some fishing gear as it looks like the season will still be open.
We're game for any kind of trolly trip.

Potluck Saturday evening? I saw on the news where the elk herd is dying off at an alarming rate on Mt St Hellens, I could run up and grab a few steaks

Talk about cuttin close...we MIGHT get the boat for trials this Saturday...if we do, we'd have the week to load her up and get ready to FISH. The other possibility is they don't get it finished (and we go clip fins at the hatchery in Tillamook instead) and we don't get her until next Saturday, in which instance we won't be able to make it to Cathlamet. I'm guessing they're pretty optimistic thinking they can get all the electronics and the stove swapped out between yesterday afternoon and today-- lotta wires n hole-cuttin n stuff -- we'll just have to wait and see :clock

Taking next Friday off so will be launching very early Friday morning at Scapoose and motoring down. Should hit Catlamastan around 9:00 will most likely do some fishing when I get there.

Anybody else going to be fishing on Friday?

Larry,
Bummer you didn't get one of your hook-ups in the boat, but its good to hear there are still some fish in the area. Looking forward to getting down your way and wetting a line. You will have to so me how to rigged up again for the fishery. Is there a special plug that is working this year? Do you need to wet your lips to catch on of those fish? Will probably get down there about noon Friday. What channel will you be monitoring?
Jim

What channel will you be monitoring?

That's a silly question, Jim. Everyone knows Larry monitors the Cliffton Channel.

Looking forward to seing you all. I hope to get there about midday Friday, with the troops driving over sometime early evening.

Larry - E dock again?

I'll be listening to Ch. 68 whether I'm on Clifton Channel or not.
Jim,I was using a chartreuse headed chrome K-14, bait wrapped. There were some fish caught out there today. Water temp is 49 degrees F.

My father in-law is coming up for a quick visit on easter weekend so we will not be going to the cathlamet gathering. i will be taking him halibut fishing up here instead. Hope you all have a good time without us. With my luck the fishing will be great this year.
