It ain't road kill, but I think I can get the stuff at Costco to make strawberry shortcake for the potluck dessert. IF the girls help chop up the berries, that is. Don't worry - I'll get twice as much Costco Canned Whipped Cream as we need.

Last week's evening weather was good most every day, but this week is starting off kinda sad looking. If the wind is howling and the thunder roaring like it is right now, we won't be motoring up on Friday evening. But we'll get there Saturday morning.

Friday, Saturday, just get there safely with the strawberry shortcake fixins

Joe I checked out that store. They had some good prices but I found a better deal at the canned food liquidator. They had some single serving "beef cuts and gravey" in generically label cans for dirt cheap...should be quite a feast saturday night

Dammit- The wife took the keys away from me....no night time forays on the back roads looking for the Saturday night Blue Plate special. I was informed I am to make clam chowder and use lots of razor clams.
I just don't understand why the wife is so picky. She claims I have the culinary aptitude of a coyote. (and the same table manners)

Well, if Mike is bringing the whip cream too....I don't know what we can bring! But I think some of my soon to be famous smoked Salmon Dip will be a part of it. The forcast is showing some showers, I hope thats all we get.

Hello all
Barring bad health or strong winds Ruthi and I will be boating down from Ridgefield on Saturday, would also like to know if it is OK to bring a family friend & wife ? They have a different brand of boat but it does look just like a C-Dory, they would like to meet some nice fellow boaters. I don't know where you sign up at or who I give money too so I need some direction.
Thank you.
Big Dave.
Raven Dancer.

Wineman- you just made the spousal unit very happy, many thanks in advance

Big Dave- you could click on the "events" heading at the top off the page and then click on the Catherderlamet event and then click on join and you're in. I don't think anybody has much problem with a off branded boat, but I think there is a limit of one per event...you're in luck.
Money, you can pay the harbormaster when you show up as far as further direction, just point the boat down river...watch out for kayaks :)

I called the marina today, they wanted to know when we where invading. I told them a few boats would show up Friday eve with the ballance on Sat. I told them to figure on about 10 boats, if many more than 10 show, keep in mind C-D's are like jello, there's always room for more :)
The BBQ pit is reserved untill 5:00 for a salmon derby but after that it ours, so plan on dinner a little later. reminds me, I had better get a new fishing license.

looks like we may get a bit of rain but I think good times will be had

For you folks that haven't seen it, if you want to see the "swiss army knife" of boats and the definition of organization, be sure to check out the "nine inches" boat

Money, money, did some one say money?
Big Dave, you can send me all you want.
Thanks in advance.
Ann & I hope to drive up for the Sat potluck, if I can get off work early.

ps. Yes Mike, we're going to leave that dern dog at home. :wink

Ken and the Catherdelamet bunch,
Sorry, Toni and I are not going to be able to make it this weekend. She
has been having stomach pains all week and the doctor told her today
she had better stay close to home in case it gets worse. Its nothing that can't be fixed, just not before the weekend. You will just have to wait to try the smoked Salmon dip another time. I worked all week after work on the boat too, I should have went to that doctor appointment and stressed the importance of boating and the calming effect it has on the guts. Ya'll have fun, we'll be thinking of you.

Would love to try and make it there for one of the days not sure I can swing it. Wish the weather was going to be better. Guess that's why we have a c-dory though. Does the dock have shore power and if so is it 30amp?

So far, it's looking like we can get away tomorrow afternoon....hoping to get the boat in the water before dark, but...best laid plans ya know

Looking forward to this!

Caty

Russ, dang, I hope Toni gets better soon

Flap, it looks like tomorrow night is the worst of the weather, later saturday and into sunday it will dry out and be 85 :) They have juice at the dock

CM&S, we're hoping to throw the boat in the water before dark also... see ya down there

I scored a chunk of beef and whittled it up into about 30, 6oz steaks........we quality tested some tonight, it passed

Sorry to hear about Toni's ailments. Does that Doc know the difference between boats and snowmobiles? Maybe he's just being overly cautious thinking she's liable to hurt herself again. Really sorry to be missing you guys, but here will be lots of others chances.

As for us, we have sort of an emergency too. It looks like we'll be motoring up the creek Saturday morning. I mean, my goodness, we can't expect the girls to miss the big grade school dance on Friday night.

Between the rumored Stonewolf wine and B~C's mad cow, this is shaping up to be a good one.

I might have got a little carried away on the SB shortcake. After the berries were cleaned and sliced, I weighed them in the two plastic tubs. 21.6 pounds. That includes the sugar, and I may have put in too much of that - so someone will need to keep an eye on B~C if he's bouncing around the docks. Four three packs of Costco sized cans of whip cream and six dozen cake cup deals. I guess I better go back to Costco and get some bigger bowls and spoons. Hey - I don't know this cooking stuff, but the kids sure like what I fix.

The wind is blowing pretty good down here right now, so we wouldn't have been motoring up the river tonight even if not for the school dance. I told the kids (got four grandkids going) that we are leaving the dock at 6:00 tomorrow morning, so that means we'll be getting to the boat about 7:00am. That's usually how it works. We should be there about 9:00 Saturday morning.

What a GREAT time! We reuned with some brats we'd met before and met some new...great company, great conversation, great food -- and Steve even caught one of those elusive springers!

Thanks Paige and Dan for flying in -- what a surprise!

Thanks Ken and Marge for organizing the gathering -- you did a great job -- thanks Mike for that scrumptious desert, Wineman for the spirits...we put quite a dent in 21+ pounds of strawberries. And thanks John and Amy for letting us pass over your boat so many times without a toll

We're all tuckered out -- sirens at 5:30 this morning (John and Amy didn't hear them...hmmmmm), roadtrip for nearly 3 hours and the boat's all washed inside and out and in her house -- fish is in the freezer 'cept what I'm fixing for dinner...to bed early for us tonight, I'm sure.

Hope everyone made it home safe and sound!

Caty

WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND, the rain was nice to us and only dumped in the late evening. It was great to get to B.S. with old friends and new & we found a case of Stone Wolf custom label wine waiting at the marina office, which I think enables WineGuy to qualify for the elusive C-Brat Gold membership card :) I think the Dog On crew qualified for a gold card also....man, flying down from Fairbanks for dinner, that's hard core

It was a bit of a tight fit in the marina with the salmon fishing frenzy going on but it sure made for some fine entertainment. It would have been nice if we had some more room so Big Dave wouldn't have to exile his friend to the fuel dock......really, we weren't going to sink him.

IT WAS NICE WEEKEND, thanks all for coming

Those guys are right - it was a great one. The kids had a blast and drove me crazy. Too many kids and dogs for an old guy.

Finally I got to meet Dan and Paige. What a neat couple of folks. Dan isn't anywhere near as onery as he would have you believe. Thanks for coming to see us. I hope your trip home was easy and quick.

And thanks to Art the Wineguy for shipping that box of wine. That is an amazingly nice thing to do. Sorry to not get to see you guys this trip, but it won't be long before another chance.

I sure hope the Frazeys made it back up the river this afternoon. If they had the same water we had both directions then their little cruise today was probably a good one. Smooth for us all the way both ways both days.

I am also pulling for the crew of Chester to make it home without incident. This was Milehog's first successful trip to a CBGT and he's earned smooth sailing on the freeways from here on out.

It was neat to meet or see again all the friends. I am still amazed by this stuff. Don't hardly seem possible, but it works every time.

Thanks B~C & M for ramrodding this one. You done good. If you can get over that silly Alaska fishing nonsense you're planning and stick around this summer we'll have you do up another one.
