Don and I where kicking around the notion of a Cathlametstan gathering this spring. Folks could explore their way to astoria and Ilwaco or stick around and try for a spring chinook..

Any interest?

HI Ken,

Hey, Talked to your boss yesterday (Elkin Cove) He told me what to say to you, (But I'm not sayin' that   ---sorry I missed you at the PDX boat show yesterday.)

Hey, the Lower Columbia cruise sounds like a neat trip. I would be interested, not so much the fishing but exploring. Sign me up.

BTW, congrats on being the highest pound producer.

hey there, we checked in at the booth just after you left, Mike told us a c-dory yacht club guy had stopped by and he filled him full of BS. Don and I scratched our heads for a bit trying to figure out who, mystery soved, bummer we didn't catch up to you....I did have a pretty good summer

Cathlametstan use to be a regular spring thing and with more and more C-Dorys plying the columbia river, we should get it going again. I'm thinking the weekend before or after easter. The weather may be good, springer fishing may be good & cruising is always good

Don was pretty busy selling and booking and ......... BS-ing ....so I didn't want to disturb him too much. BTW, that's a nice looking new boat there.

If I had a choice on the date it would be before Easter. Would work best for me but will be glad to see what is available. Have been interested in this area for a while. Thanks for bringing it up.

Mike was doing the selling and bsn,, Don, of Knotty C fame was wandering the show with me. We made it out of the show with our wallets intact I might add.

The weekend before Easter may be better for fishing, as the season may close the week after

I survived the onslaught quite well too. Boat US membership and a spring clip for my anchor line. Sorry, I didn't see Don there. Hope to see you guys at SBS CBGT.

I'm in. Cathlamet is my homeport of sorts. I remember that several years ago there was a gathering at the marina. That sort of rekindled my desire to own a C-Dory. I bought one not too long after that gathering. Been enjoying it ever since on the lower Columbia.

Easter, or the weekend
before or after would work well for me.

I would be interested if you'd allow non C-Dory Brats.

I have kept my boat there every July - Sept since 2005.

Plus, it would be good to see you again, Ken. I thought you had passed away.....

well hell ya, Brat alumni are welcome, that Camano would make a good dance hall :) ...I'm not dead I've just been in a work induced coma the last few years.

Slo Hand, you gotta attend, you have to point us to where the fish are...

It sounds like we'll be having us a another Cathlametstan gathering, now we just need to nail down the best weekend. I'd recommend the weekend before Easter if folks want to fish.

we would definitely try to join you all, I haven't yet fished the Columbia other than one sturgeon charter about 8 years ago, so it would be great to get the C-Dory out there.

Ken, if I come down I definitely want to fish. 10 years ago, it seemed like the springer run tended to peak around tax time but in the past 4-5 years, it's tended to peak later in April. The early edge of the peak seems to be pretty steep but the numbers taper off more slowly. Hence, I've found it better to be a little late for the run than too early. HOWEVER, that depends greatly on the quota and if the allowable down river quota has been caught too early, too late is then a problem since even though the fish are there you aren't allowed to catch them. So either that weekend you are suggesting or the following one (Easter weekend) is probably the best combination of being there at a good time and before the quota runs out.

I think I'd prefer Easter weekend but some may want to avoid that for religious reasons. But IMHO teaching someone to fish or actually fishing is close enough to a religious experience for me.
