04/11 - 04/12 - Cathlamet, WA

I am building a bookshelf just to store the Tech info related to the springer fishing derby. Between now and then I will be taking a sewing class and getting a loan for the new gear I will need. Didn't sleep at all last night as I was running through the set up for each tide situation. Elastic thread? Really....what ever.
 
I have a lot of K15's in my tackle box, most of them are either chrome and chartruse or chrome and orange. It's fishing so whatever size and color you bring, they'll be biting on something else. Some folks swear by the hearing wrap, some believe it not worth the bother & messes up the action so don't feel that it's a mandatory addition...I have extra gear & the hardware store has everything you could need.....if you can just find it :)

Hey folks, this Cathalametstan adventure isn't just about fishing, a person doesn't have to be a fisheman to sign up.
 
In reading the Cathalametstan bylaws I note that you must fish if you intend to partake in happy hour back at the dock. Can this be amended by a simple majority of those present at any regular meeting?
 
the by-laws don't specify what type of fishing, one could be fishing for spare change in their pocket, or, fishing for truck keys :)

I talked to the marina the other day. If your on the fence about coming and enjoying the weekend you may want to sign up as they are filling up. Springer season is still running and they are allotting space. I am hoping for the same weather we had last year. I remember on Saturday I was sitting on the back of the boat all stretched out with shorts on. :disgust Maybe this year we'll have the same great weather? :hot :thup
 
OK - I'm signed up. Hopefully BC will provide some freezer burnt smelt award for some dang thing. I do plan on fishing, hope to even do some catching.
 
Looks like I will be able to make it this year.
Looking forward to to meeting the new folks, seeing the old ones and getting in some fishing. Most likely launch at Scapoose on Friday and motor down, will see if I can talk Tom and Rene into making the trip with me. Always a good time and looking forward to it.

Well, I am planning on attending and doing some fishing.
Is anyone launching on the 10th?
As long as my neighbor and I are bringing the boat down, we thought we would fish Friday and some on Sat.
Do I need to make sperate reservations for the night of the 10th and by signing up am I reserved for the 11th and 12th?
 
I have advised the marina that some of the brats are going to show on Friday and some will remain through Monday. My wife and I plan on leaving Scappoose about 10ish(give or take an ish). Should be in the area then about three hours or so... :wink
 
The springer season on this part of the river between March 19 and April 18 is open Th, F and Sat only.
As a result, Capital Sea plans to get into the water in Thursday at Cathlamet and overnight Thursday, Friday and Sat nights.

From the comments above, it looks like I need to make my reservation for the thursday night stay. Is this correct?
 
Wow, the lure of catching a Springer is is very strong enticement for me to sign-up. So I will. We'll see if our plans hold up and we can trailer down that weekend.

Hey Roger, I know you know how to catch salmon out of Neah Bay. Are you going to show me what you know about catching Springers in the Columbia? :wink

So I signed up Bill. Did you say we need to contact the marina or will they be taking the C-Brat counts from this sign-up sheet. Let me know.
 
I have contacted the Marina and kept them informed from the sign up sheet as to how many boats we have coming. I didn't figure anyone showing up on Thursday so you may want to dial them - I am confident that they should be able to accomodate you one day earlier than the bunch.
Just a reminder the pot luck on Saturday night as we do have the patio reserved for our gathering.

Catching fish at Neah Bay is easy and I've put in enough time out there that I've got most of the good locations down. I've only fished for springers in the Columbia once and I didn't get a bite that day. So sure, I can show you what I know about catching springers in the Columbia. Pay close attention. Read the rest of this post carefully.

OK!! B~C Ken!! You got me outta the lurk when you mentioned fishing for truck keys. I still get some therapy for that. IOf course the only person that didn't fish caught them. We are looking to make this years Cathlamet.

If things work out with the Commodore's work schedule, I'll launch Thursday eve and fish Friday and Saturday. Looks like an ebbing tide in the morning both days. Do you plan to sit on the hook or troll the channel?
