Larry S,

Excited to here the bite is on :D :D.

The purple label is one size below the black and I think one size above the blue. We use them for the Fall nook and also get big Coho on a purple cut plug. I'll pick up some green and bring the purple. If everyone in town is dragging a green one I'll probably want to go with a different size.

We are staying up at the Island View B&B. I'll give you a call when we hit town, hoping that will be about 6am Sat.

What channel should I monitor on the VHF?

Jon

Well this is a crummy deal! Oscar was all excited to meet Skipper and Capt. Elliott! Not only that, who else besides Tyboo would let Oscar on board? He HAS to come with me, Patty and Austin are taking off for Spain and France, he would be one lonesome pup for three days home alone. I SHUDDER to think what damage and destruction he would wreak on our humble abode...

It's a big nope for the TyBoo crew. Got too much going on. Our house got a lot smaller over the past week, but the CD25 got closer to just the right size. Anyhow, the latest new crew members have things they got to do. Like breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Easter egg hunts, and -yep - church on Sunday morning.

You all have a great time, and we'll meet up with the bunch soon, I would guess.

Pat,

Sorry but we are not bringing our little Pepper dog this trip. One less thing for the lovely Terrie to wonder about if she's at the helm. She hasn't had enough time at the wheel yet and this is our first time angling in the angler :D.

We will bring some extra pets for Oscar :dog.

Tuna salad for the BBQ, Check...
Change of clothes, Check...
Fishing gear, Check....
Movie to watch with Stevej, Check....
Extra batteries and food to last a week of 2 day outings, check...
Suzuki DT parts and 2 stroke oil for Cheers, Check....
Enough beer to last 3 days at a Brat Pak function.... I'll get more on the way.....

Bearings ok, Check.... Uh, No! Neither is the hub

It is a good thing I found it in the driveway. I don't think it would have made the trip. Somehow there is a large groove in the hub that I just changed the bearings in last summer. I will check to see what a new one will cost in the morning but I doubt I will be able to afford it. I will update you tomorrow but at this point there is no way I can make it tonight and I will likely have to wait until I can afford to take care of this. :unlove What a bummer :unlove .

I want a full report from those of you that are there.

I think the Easter bunny is plotting against me....

Hi Mike,
Had a good visit with Kay today at the new Safeway and got a better idea of the work ahead. You're doing the right thing so it'll all work out then you and the crew can get back on the water. If we do any good with the springer business we'll drop off a chunk for chow on our way by Sunday. I think I still owe you for some sturgeon you through my way before last season opened and we caught our own.

The one thing I forgot to tell Kay, and I don't know if you saw my post about Raven Dave in the sturgeon thread, was that he did get out and get home from St. Vincent after having a shunt installed from his heart attack. I stopped by tier store today and his daughter said he was doing really well so he's on the mend.

Keep your fingers crossed that I'll bring supper by.

Tim

Guys

Channel 68 is a designated working channel for non-commercial use that I don't think is supposed to be used as a BS channel. I know that the Elochoman Marinna monitors ch. 68. Boats call the marina on that channel and ask about marina accomidations. See this website http://wireless.fcc.gov/marine/vhfchanl.html
As near as I can tell, ch. 75 should be an open channel that is not designated. I suggest we use ch. 75 for our brat chit-chatting. That way we won't be heard on the loudspeaker in the marina. Thoughts?

Larry - technically, you are not supposed to BS on ANY of the marine VHF channels, this is a rule honored more in the breach I think. Like I say, up north it is 68, but if you are more comfortable with another channel, that is just dandy, especially if 68 is a marina channel. Not sure if the radio will go to channel 75 (it skips a lot of numbers I think), have to check that out. For pure BS, which is what mostly we do of course, we really should be using FRS or even CB, but of course marine VHF is what everyone has.

Mr. Fisherman,

Really looking forward to meeting you and learning some new fishin' tricks, so swipe the Visa accross the machine and get to Catchlimit .

Jon

we aint havin no burgers for Saturday potluck...I found some good road kill and cut off a bunch of Top sirloin steaks...bring your own steak knife........Man, I can't believe my luck, the flies haven't even gotten to it yet.

Well folks, I'm really sorry but it looks like I'll have to wait till next year for a Catchlimit outing. Finally found a new hub and replaced the old one, new bearings and seals but the seals I have found just do not have a good seal. On top of this I have something dragging that just isn't right. I have adjusted and cleaned the brakes but it hasn't made a difference.

So those of you who made it, please, PLEASE, write up the details and post up some pics. I am suffering terrible withdrawls and desperately need some float time. I only have 33 days to get ready for the Halibut opener. I was hoping to shake down the boat, not the trailer this week. Tuna is a mere 82 days out. By the way, for those of you interested, you only have 257 shopping days till X-Mas :xnaughty I think I'm gonna add a new to me trailer to my list :xlol

Looks like the Lynn Marie is the first boat back in our home port. If the C-Brats weren't such great folks I'd have said the weather in Cathlamet was the best thing ever but I can't since it was all perfect. Larry and Helen out did themselfs with hospitality. Larry was such a good host that he even brought in his special salmon killing deckhand so the up north beer boys aren't virgins any longer, but someone else will have to finish that story.

We had eight boats total, 1-16', 1-19',4-22's,and 2-25's. Sure hope thats right but if I don't mention names nobody will know I missed them. We consumed some of that great beer that us Oregonians can't buy and the food everybody brought was all top flight. A typical C-Brat food fest. Don't know what you all had for supper last night but ours was great and include a BBQ Columbia River spring salmon. Damn it was good.

Thanks to everyone. It was good to see old faces, great to meet some new ones, and truely sad not to be abable to have shared it with some of our other friends that we all knew wished they could have been there. You were in our hearts and we'll look for you next time.

Twas a real good time, great folks, great potluck. Larry and Lyle got the beer brothers into some fish. I think the Helen O had the only cooler with fish stink in it. The kid and I fished our way back up the river. I have a few pictures to post later, I was having bad luck with cell phones and cameras this weekend. later

Helen and I had a great time, great companionship, great food and sunny weather. :thup Thank you to all that were there, and those that were there in spirit. We missed you.
B~C Ken, Tyboo Mike... Thanks for providing the leadership and overseeing this event. It was a blast!

A picture is worth a thousand words.

It would take much more than a thousand words to express my thanks to Larry and Helen for the wonderful time I had and the gracious hospitality they extended me while I was staying with them for the C-Brat Cruise.
The fun and excitment was nonstop from the first minute till the last. Watching the Brew Boys catch their first Salmon will be a memory that I will cherish for many years. Larry was a perfect mentor and I think they were as good at learning as any I have taught. I enjoyed meeting other C-Brats and missed seeing some of my friends that could not make it this time. To all who cooked for the potluck dinner Saturday THANK YOU for a very good feast. Lyle-T

OK,
I'm still not talking about the whole week-end since the beer boys can't be home yet and they need a little space left for the trip. We had such a great time that the rest of you brats can't believe this. The beer boys did catch fish!, and that's about as much as I should say.

P.S. Larry and Lyle, you guys were outstanding brats.

We had a FABULOUS time! It was great to meet new (to us) Brats Primitive Tom and Renae, Denebola Jon and Terrie and Shearwater Steve. And as usual, a veritable feast Saturday night. But wow, Larry and Lyle - what a couple of fishing instructors! Rousing us each morning at 5:00 am, teaching us not only which end of the reel is up (literally), but also RSKs, cut plugs, knots, and bringing the fish in. Letting us take the strikes. Fiinally a lesson in cleaning fish. And Larry, you are the King of All Good Sports! (I won't go into all the details - some of you may not have eaten yet). Thanks to everyone for one of the most memorable weekends ever, but especially to Larry and Lyle!
