03/06 - 03/08 - Indian Cove, South Sound

Roger,

Smart move. Looks like it got to 40 Kts at Smith and is currently 31 NW at Point Wilson

Watch out for the rips if you leave on the ebb.

K2 is going to boat hospital at Cap Sante tomorrow for final diagnostics.

Barry, Take a good look South toward Bush point before you take off from Keystone.

Stay safe,

Merv

And now...snow! This does not begin to show what is going on here on March 5, the day before we need to go down a very steep hill (and come back up two days later) towing a boat...

Pat, I was about to laugh but I looked out of the window first. We have a heavy sleet/hailstorm on South Whidbey at an altitude of 213ft! This at 0900Hrs.

Well down here in the south sound it's a blustery day with blue sky. Judging from the wind direction, we should be calm in Indian Cove.
See you all in a day or two hack caugh hack sneeze...moan.

It's been sunny off and on here in University Place today, with winds to 15 earlier, but calm now. Down at the boat, it was blowing. Tomorrow the forecast is for calm conditions with sunshine :hot . I think Sat am will be good too. Heard that it was pretty flat for C-Cakes crossing Admiralty today.

If you have some firewood at home and have not left yet, put some in the boat for ballast and floatation. It will also come in handy to warms toes and roast brats, etc.

A big thanks to Jim for all of the hard work he has put into this gathering. :thup :thup

Safe travels to all. This is going to be fun! Robbi

PS Brock, Happy 20th to the Cat, she doesn't look a day over 3 or 4. Give her a scratch behind the capstan from me, and let her know that she will have a sister ship following her out to Friday Harbor. See you Saturday.

Who are we roasting?

The snow got to over an inch deep in Snoqualmie yesterday - and now its all gone. Weather is looking OK, could be a bit lumpy on the trip down!

I just took this picture looking west from Steilacoom. Not a bad morning to be on the water.

OK. I just want to say please do not throw me in the fire. I am really sorry for being me, the way I am, and so on. I will try to do better. MUCH BETTER!

Robbi, yer picture's killin' me. To the office-bound, it's the wurst! I also got a look at Puget Sound from Ballard, and jeez was it beautiful. Flat calm, light blue water. It's a good thing I didn't take the risk. :crook

For those from the "frozen" North of Puget Sound, keep a keen weather watch. The way the Weasels have it right now is downright nasty for Sat/Sun up through Admiralty.
Barry, I don't know if you are "e" nabled while you are down there but if you are in a time bind to get back consider somewhere on the mainland and we will come fetch you so you can get your rig and haul out rather than sail home.
Same goes for any -Brat Bro' who might need help to get home on Sunday or even Monday. Supposed to get better on Monday IF you believe!! :disgust

There is an album ready for you guys. It is the first one in the Cruises and Events Album (right here).

Have fun, be safe.

:note :note Indian Cove is a place you should go with your little ones
Keep it in mind if you're looking to find a place in the summer sun

(close enough)

Here we are at Indian Cove. Several C-Dories tucked in for the night. The skies are clear & the stars are shining . Thank God for the Dickinson heater. It must be in the mid 30s outside but its 65 in the cabin.
We got in late, after sunset, so we havn't had a chance to check out much of the marina.

I'm looking out at Carr Inlet thinking about launching and the wind is just howling. I'm disappointed at missing my first CBGT but I've just got the boat back from the shop and I don't feel these are the safest conditions for a sea trial. And yesterday was dead calm...

I hope everyone stays warm and has a good time.

Regretfully,
Craig

Here in marysville there is a 2 to 3 ft chop, ON THE SEWER PLANT POND. No way anyone is going out on the sound in this, not here. wind is just howling

From the Keystone beach at Admiralty it has been NW to W at anywhere from 25 to 40 Kt gusts all morning with wind waves up to about 5 ft then 6 - 8 ft breakers in the tide rips as the ebb sets it. Ferry is cancelled (so what's new?)
Looking from the Deception pass bridge the ebb against the 30 Kt Westerly was setting up 6 ft standing waves with a nasty curl on top.

The wind surfers at West Beach were having a ball !!

Not a pretty sight for us mere mortals.
