02/25 - 02/27 Cruise starting at Cornet Bay, WA

Since a few folks will be showing without boats, (how did that happen), the potluck/dinner will be at Cornet Bay Saturday night, dinner out on Friday night. I hope we can cruise Saturday out of Deception and into the San Juans. I was also hoping to do a little fishing so we can talk about it on Friday night.
Deception Pass on 2/26/05
High tide 05:44
Low tide 11:44
High tide 17:21

Should make for an interesting day.

Thanks, Fred...just for that, I'll bring the beer! We cannot come until Saturday morning, please don't leave without us, we will probably have to hitch a ride with someone! What time do you think you would be heading out on the cruise or fishing?

OK! Kas and Marty (new owners of Daydream) are coming to Cornet Bay, we will have a formal hand-off to keep the spirit of the boat alive! We will be arriving Saturday a.m., sure hope to make it is time for the day cruise, but if not, we will catch up with you all! We will tow Daydream to Cornet Bay, launch it, and perhaps be passengers on it. Sunday we will tow it back to Shilshole for the new owners. In between, we will have a denaming ceremony and a christenting! Rev. Jim, get your vestments ready!

On my 16' Cruiser I had two 6 1/2 Gallon tanks and one 3 gallon tank. I never ran out of fuel while cruising in the San Juans. Fueling facilities are abundant enough. As for cruising through Deception Pass, I always watched for other vessels and when the vessel traffic appeared to be minimal in the pass....especially the larger vessels, then I just "put the hammer down" and zipped through there. As you cruise through the San Juans you'll encounter many areas of tide rips....soon you'll get use to it. You'll have no problem keeping up with the 19's, 22's, 25's etc. They are all powered proportionally and are very compatible for cruising together.

Thanks for everyone's advice and guidance.

I went out in the sound for the first time today. My new electronics seem to have a problem that may prevent me from attending. My Raymarine Raystar GPS antenna and the C70 navigational display are not communicating. With no GPS signal to verify my location in comparison to my charts... not sure if I want to go out and play yet.

Not sure if I need to simply adjust my settings or go back to the riggers at the C-Dory factory in Auburn.

I'll try to work out the problem in the next few days, hopefully in time for this event.

Look forward to meeting all of you on Friday and Saturday.

Pat we should be leaving the docks about the time you arrive.
Gary, I wouldn't worry about your electronics, you will be in good hands and nobody will let you get in any trouble.

Fred,

Dunno what you have planned for Fri. chow. Pretty short list in our area. The Deception Pass Cafe has good food, but is small. Mitzell's -- we all know what they have. Charlie's (at the Anacortes ferry landing) - great food. And of course we have Greek food, Chinese food in Oak Harbor -- you name it! All within a few minutes, and all probably need reservations on a Fri.

How many folks?

Dusty

Hi Dusty, not sure how many folks are going to show Friday. I hate to make reservations not knowing. I hope everyone who is coming will chime in so we can get a number.

We plan to get underway from Brownsville early Friday morning and cruise up probably via lunch at Everett. Plan to be into C. Bay by mid-afternoon. Given some calm water Friday Harbor for Saturday lunch would sure sound nice!

Looking forward to see you all.

Doug

we will not be able to bring the Sensei but we would like to meet you all for the Friday night dinner. have you come up with a location yet.
another sugestion could be the Swinnomish Casino. they have a pretty good buffet. I can go online and find out how $$$ it costs on Fridays

We'll be leaving Bellingham sometime Saturday. Will show up sooner or later but hopefully won't miss the ceremonies. Will bring some dessert for the potluck. At least that's the plan tonight. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting the new C-Dory members, too.

OK, we will be arriving sometime around 10:00 am Saturday, and crusiing with the new owners! So we are looking forward to the day cruise and potluck on Saturday and the denaming / renaming ceremony Sunday a.m. We and Martinsons have a motel, Anaco Bay Inn (our first choice, Campbell Lake Resort, was full).

A stupid question perhaps, has anybody told Dundee Woods at the Cornet Bay Marina that a bunch of boats are coming? Is the potluck at the marina or the state park? Dundee has a mean little way of keeping the campfire going and loves company, as I recall...

Well. what a fabulous weekend! Two de-namings (Anna Leigh and Daydream) and three christenings (Spirit, boat-y-sattva and Susan E). Day cruise from Cornet Bay to West Sound, lunch at the fantastic Kingfisher Inn (featuring Snoqualmie Coppperhead on tap no less!), and a wonderful if chilly potluck on the float at Cornet Bay State Park! Participating were Anna Leigh/Spirit, Daydream/boat-y-sattva, Susan E, Anita Marie, Liberty Call, Luna-C, R-Matey, C-Sick and sans boat Jim and Laurie of Laurna Jo. Deception Pass was a pussycat, but a bit of fog on the way home - all boats back in safe and sound!

We had a great time! Cold & foggy but as usual lots of good food and companionship along with the Rev. Jim officiating at the christenings for the Susan E & boat-y-sattva. A special thanks to Fred and Robbin for leading us through the fog to LaConner :thup :thup More than a couple of times we could not see them at all! After we left them at Twin Bridges we had some interesting moments but started getting more visibility north of Hat Island. Absolutely beautiful skies and water almost as smooth as Jello on the approach to Bellingham. What a wonderful weekend.

Great time, Luna C, Liberty Call, CSick, Susan E, Anna Leigh, Daydream and Anita Marie. Good dinner with Chris and Janet Friday night in Anacortes.
Nice cruise to Westsound for lunch with the denaming christening at the dock. The group broke up after lunch going there own ways. Hooked up with CSick on our way back thru Deception in the fog, notch another first.
The potluck was great with the CBrats usual spreed.
Left early Sunday morning and had a interesting cruise to Twin Bridges with Joe and Ruth in some pretty thick fog. Hey Joe that was a pretty big tug, huh.
