Hmmm -- a weekend (or longer) on Lake Mojave? -- warm, sunny, weather -- nearby buffets at the casinos in Laughlin, good shows to watch in the show rooms -- hey, you Nor'westers -- take a break from the winter rains and come join -- life's a beach, and there are some great ones on Mojave.

SEA3PO is ready !!! I would like to go early but Sue is still working and someone must pay the bills...sure is not me..
Did we decide that we were going to do the Casino Dinner ? instead of the Pot-luck ?? Or should I bring da Buffalo ?? might even have some jerky done by then...

Joel.... Just home from the Buffalo hunt... got a Big un !!

Lookin' forward!

AC Plugs are on order (Spoke to AC himsef, in Boulder City AZ).

Good chance of catching some nice Stripers, so we'll give it a shot.

Whatever buffet we decide on Friday nite will be well worth it, and the Pot Luck out in the Boonies will be great, as well.

I'm really looking forward to getting to Willow Beach, and seeing what's up at that end of the lake (probably more accurately, the river).

Engines are tuned, new Michelins on the truck, new Chartplotter at the helm, so it's time to get outta Dodge.

Look forward to meeting y'all!

Ken

pssst -- Ken -- Boulder City is one of our old home towns -- and --- it's in Nevada, not AZ. Splitting hairs, though, since BC is right on the border.

Well-- looks like we will be having fun on this run. So far we have 7 boats signed up- :D

No state income tax in Nevada --
Or Washington. Or Florida. Or Wyoming. Or Texas. Or Alaska.

Guess which states have a high percentage of retired Californians?...

Yea but--- if you retire in California and move to another state, California still tries to collect income tax on your retirement

Gettin' a little off-topic here Roger, but that's never stopped us before...

Actually, this used to be the case - not any longer, assuming you've done your homework. Love him or hate him, Clinton took care of this problem in 1996 when he signed H.R. 394 into law. In a nutshell, it prevents any state from collecting income tax from most non-residents, regardless of where the income was earned. It applies to retirement plans, 401a/401k's, 457's, and just about anything else that includes pre-tax contributions. Here's a good link explaining it.

The homework part - you must be able to prove residency in the non-tax state when you start withdrawing those funds you earned in the taxable state. This is where things can get tricky. CA likes to make it difficult on you, particularly if you retain CA property or relationships with CA financial institutions, claiming these indicate residency. Most folks who go this route either have a really good tax attorney and keep detailed records, or make a clean break.

This isn't my profession - don't take it as legal advice, but I've studied it pretty well as I plan on retiring in WA. CA will extract their pounds of flesh from me while I'm here, but no way they're getting a dime out of me when I leave...

What - me bitter?

Off topic?? who - me?? Heck, I was talking about when I retire to Lake Mohave.

Looks like we are set to have a great time at Lake Mohave next month. Course, anytime I can take a couple days off and get out on the boat is a great time!

If all goes well we should be near Lake Mojave about 2/20 or 2/21. We would like to stop in, hoist a cold one, and say hello if that‘s all right. We are doing the camper thing on our way to Arizona and will not have our boat with us this time. Where and when will everyone get together for food and drink?

Jim

Jim-
We will be having dinner Friday night, the 20th, at one of the casino buffets in Laughlin. We will be docking the boats at Katherines Landing.
Of course you are welcome-- we may forgive you not bringing the boat, but will your boat forgive you?
check your messages

Jim --
If you wish, bring along some pictures of your Alaska cruise from last summer. I'm sure we'd all enjoy 'sharing' that adventure with you. We missed each other up there last summer, but hope to meet on Mojave.

El and Bill

I have posted a few photos of our Alaska trip.
If you would like to see a VCR tape of the trip we will have it with us.

As of now it looks like we just might make Lake Mohave in time for dinner. :cocktail

see everyone then

Kathy and Jim

We were out knocking rocks for the day, in the mountains west of Lake Mojave, and went to the shore for a picnic. 76 degrees, calm wind, and not a cloud in the sky. Couldn't ask for better boating weather. We plan to launch on Thursday and be out for a week and a half. Anyone want to come on over early and kick back?
