02/05 - Snohomish River Delta Cruise

Dave,

Nice meeting you on Friday night at the potluck. Bill and I are trying to make a plan to come. Do you know how long you guys are normally out? Rough estimates by google map showed it to be about 12 miles from the river mouth to Snohomish. Does that sound right? We may need to leave the group early, not a big deal, but just want to know a rough plan so we can determine if it fits our schedule. My grandmother's 90th birthday party is that night- can't be late! :)

Hope to see everyone then!

Erin

Erin, I would give the cruise an estimate of 3 1/2 to 5 hours. This is a cruise that is not too difficult to "break away from" should such circumstances be present. I'm sure that our time on the cruise has varied from year to year. (Perhaps, others who have joined in on previous years can recollect the time length of those cruises and "chime in" here). If your time is limited, I can break the cruise into two phases fairly easily and you can do a portion of it and easily return to the launch ramp, while the rest of us continue on to the "2nd phase" of the cruise.

I do hope you folks are able to attend, but most certainly a grandmother's 90th Birthday should absolutely take precedence.

As an option, you could invite grandmother to join us on this venture and we could rename it "Grandmother's 90th Birthday Snohomish River Delta Cruise". She is certainly welcome to join us!

(We do try to conduct this cruise annually).

The Andersons need to cancel, which is too bad because we have always enjoyed this day cruise. On the bright side, we have to cancel because our son Barrett just let us know he will be home from Germany that weekend.

Hey Harvey,
I know that you are a Polysomnographic Technologist, but it is time that you take a break from your chosen occupation and wake up and look at the PM I sent you.

(I've always wanted to use that long-axxed word in a sentence and now I'm able to remove that desire from my wish list..... ).

(By the way, just for grins, I did a spell check on the "P" word and it highlighted the word and then indicated...."no suggestions").

Dave,

Thanks for the wakeup call. BTW,

(I've always wanted to use that long-axxed word in a sentence and now I'm able to remove that desire from my wish list..... ).

That must be some interesting list 8)

Funny, I, mostly get a lot of suggestions, frequently on where I should go

Harvey had indicated that he has put his boat away for the winter (I still haven't figured out why?..... ). At any rate, I invited him to join me on Sea Shift so he told his boss that he wasn't going to go to work that day and instead cruise the river with us. Addiitionally, I requested that he bring his camera along so he could be the "official photographer". That being said, all participants should get busy waxing their boats and have a big smile on their faces for the "Snohomish River Delta Cruise and Photo Opportunity".

For those that have not signed up for the cruise, know that you are welcome to join us at the last moment. Just have your boat in the water and be ready to putt putt away from the Everett Launch Ramp at 0900 :wink . If anyone needs my c-phone number in advance, please send me a pm requesting it.

It appears we may even have some sunshine between a few rain drops.

I won't make it Dave. :( Long story; suffice it to say the stairs in our house are "disassembled" and I need to get the new bamboo stairing installed to match the "new" flooring I installed [just] 3 yrs ago. :disgust

Have fun, be safe and watch for logs.

Mark, just do like I did install a Fire Pole instead of stairs.....oh, I forgot momentarily, you are a police officer not a fireman.....

Plus you'd probably get busted using it as a dance pole....

Seriously, wish you could join us, but I understand, you'll have another opportunity next year. :thup

Actually, I wasn't going to be working the day, but have been doing some night shifts and it wasn't going to work well to work Friday day, Sat night, and then Sunday night, plus my day job through the week, so had to be sure I wasn't on the schedule for Sat and Sun night.

'sides, I usually have to "ask" the boss

Thanks Dave, It would be my privilege to ride the Sea Shift.

I've never made it on this cruise and unfortunately, this year I will keep that streak going. I'm running a half marathon in CA this weekend so I won't be able to make it. Have fun everyone! Take some good photos and write down the best "Dave-isms" for posting on this thread.

Today, I was unable to take a look at the Snohomish River, however I did see the Stilliguamish River and with the recent rain it has quite a bit of water in it.
Tomorrow morning I am still planning on departing at 0900 HRS for our Snohomish River Delta Cruise. If we find that the river is running too fast for our comfort level, we should have no problem getting up to the entrance of the slough area where the water current will be less and perhaps more amicable to our cruise.
As a reminder, if anyone wishes to exchange c-phone numbers, please PM me soon, so I can get back to you with my c-phone number.

Dave, Thanks for a great ride. Interesting surroundings there, I like the "Dueling Banjo" section -- isolation feeling. Some interesting watercraft too. Surprised at the depth variations.

Nice to get to meet Ron and Rose, and Steve and Cindy. Warren and Lori and Susan, we missed you all. Hope things will go better soon.

Did get some OK photos, and a couple of video. Now I just need to learn what to do with all thos megapixels.
