Roger you are a very wise man, I like the sound of that. I will gladly provide tours of the facility, and I agree we set times ahead of time. I will most assuredly be at the potluck along with Jeff so that we can meet everybody, answer any questions and frankly just simply socialize.

Yes, there is a free shuttle between Qwest and Lake Union boats afloat. Very convenient. There is a street car that stops near the hotel that goes lots of places downtown, if events are held in that area. Fairly reasonable costs.

You could look at Edmonds for a hotel- the Seattle Sounder light rail system stops in Edmonds (although I don't know what a weekend schedule would look like) and stops at the King St. station, right by Qwest, and then the free shuttle could be taken to boats afloat on Lake Union.

Also, I think there is a Seattle Sounder route that goes to and from the airport to downtown. That could potentially replace a shuttle. I'd have to research to know exactly, but I've see a light rail train come from the direction of the airport a month or so ago when I was up in the Seattle are driving on I5.

I hope I can make it up from Portland for this gathering this year. In the past several years, we've always had plans on that weekend, so we've done the boat show the second weekend.

Don't worry, Scott. We're a pretty raucous crowd and if there isn't room for everyone inside the building we will open it up a bit.

Roger's "well over 100" was a bit of an understatement. At our best I believe we had a count of ~250 at the old factory.

I might add that you guys' families are welcome at the potluck and gathering at the hotel (I was just kidding about being raucous). This will not be a working event for you.

Remember the last two years weather was cold and rainy. two years ago I remember walking the boats afloat as it was spiting SNOW. What a great thing it would be to walk to the silver cloud to get warm and the view at the hotel is spectacular. let alone free ride to the boat show. And its my birthday weekend

Tom and I have special memories at the silver cloud. It was were zymogenetics put us up for my interview prior to accepting and moving to washington. Tom was CONVINCED seattle was just another loud dirty San Fransico. But one look out of the hotel window and he said "Get That Job". I was in an 8 hour interview and he was walking the docks
 
WELL...it's not HIS beer. I think of it more as OUR beer, since Pat and I do own about 60% of the brewery.

I vote yes to whatever the "brats" want. We could do a beer that would be a great accompanyment to "C-bratworst" or something stupid like that.
 
If we were at the Lake Union Silver Cloud, it wouldn't be too big a deal for some of us locals to bring a flotilla of C-Dories in on Sat. or Sun. AM to give the visitors a cruising opportunity. I think we could pick people up off some docks right across the street from the hotel.
 
Erin mentioned the light rail running to and from the airport. We have found the Seattle Link Light Rail to be one of the best ways to get from the Airport to downtown Seattle and various points in-between.

If one has mobility issues, the only real downside of using the Light Rail to get to and from the airport is that is a fairly long walk to get from the SEATAC (Seattle Tacoma Airport) terminals to the Light Rail access platform.

In summary, I believe this is one of the cleanest, least expensive ($2.50 per person from the airport to the most distant station per person), seemingly safe, and most efficient ways to get from the airport to various points downtown.

Roger (Sensei), A change from where we have been is OK with the SleepyC crew. Nice rooms but Too Crowded.

Scott, thanks for stepping up to the plate and opening the factory for tours again. Roger and Tyboo's comments about the size of the group is pretty right on. Maybe the BBQ might fit the Bellingham CBGT venue better, weather wise and transportation wise. I've only been to 3 factory dinner events but I'm sure there was never less than 100 - 150, and one of the nights, it was SRO in that big factory. BTW, thanks for model specific photos. Great idea.

The great thing about the transit system in that part of town is the name. South Lake Union Transit. thats right folks come to Seattle and you get to ride the S.L.U.T. , they even have t-shirts.
 
As an aside, the official name is the South Lake Union Streetcar but the unofficial name has stuck. There's many, many jokes (most not repeatable here) using the unofficial name. Since the street car runs right past my office, I've taken it several times. Unless I time things just right (e.g. get there just as it's arriving), I can walk to where I'm going faster than the streetcar will get me there. It is cool though - designed and built in the Czech Republic and there's online, real time GPS reporting of it's position so I can time it to get on it as it arrives.
 
OK, after a lot of phone calls and searching we have come to the conclusion that anything near the lake or in Seattle is out of our price range
we have made the decision to stay at the Larkspur Landing once again. they are anxious to have us back andI believe that it is best for us to stay put this year and perhaps see what next year will bring.I have talked with Linda Dreher, our helpful travel director and she sent me this message.

here's the scoop: The prices will remain the same as last year at the Larkspur Landing, Renton. $79.00/night for a Studio Queen Suite and $99.00/night for an Executive King 1 bedroom Suite. Tax is 12.4%. Additional days can be added at the group rate. However, on January 8th, any uncommitted rooms will be released to the public so get your reservations in early to guarantee your space. The meeting room will again be available to us Friday at 4PM through Sunday 4PM without charge.

Please make all reservations through Her office directly-not the hotel, to avoid confusion. A booking fee of $10.00 per room should be mailed to Stanwood Traveldesk.
