01/14/05-01/16/05 - Seattle Boat Show and C-Brat Convention

Roger,
We'll have Shelley's brother & wife with us on Saturday and Saturday night. He's a Duckworth jet boat owner (I guess he's addicted to noise and speed). They want to see C-Dory's new factory and I told them it would be fine to come along even though they aren't C-Dory owners or prospective owners. However, when I saw that C-Dory was picking up dinner it seemed that we might be stretching their hospitality a little if we brought guests. I know that the C-Brat attitude is "y'all come and we'll work out the details later" but I don't want to take advantage of C-Dory. Since you've been the one working out the details with C-Dory, do you have an opinion on this?
Lyle

OK, we're coming. I finally managed to talk Tom into it! We plan to go to the boat show Saturday, the factory Saturday evening and are staying at the hotel Saturday night. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Weather appears to be good for this coming weekend.
Who would've thunk I'd be coming up to Seattle to dry out?
Man is it wet down here in Santa Barbara. There is limited access on Highway 101 north of town at this time, all other roads are closed due to flooding and landslides. Santa Barbara is isolated right now.

Roger,

Yeah, Going to Seattle to dry out!!

We are leaving this am and will be at The Hawthorn on Thursday if the weather allows.

See you all there!

Dang- Ya'll will see it on the news, but La Conchita slid again. 15-20 homes several injuries and one fatality. Pray for them.
La Conchita is ~5-6 miles from the house and is our only road to the boat and points south/east.
Hope they have the road open by Thursday, I need to go that way to the airport with Joel, Friday morning.

Well, I am off to a convention down in Seattle for the next few days so this is my last post here till I see you all at the Hawthorn Suites.
there is still time for anyone wanting rooms. Just call Linda at the Travel Desk and she will be glad to help you out.We have booked 31 rooms so far . Great turnout you guys!!!!!!

I will see some of you Thursday

Fishtales Roger: Sorry about your neighbors and will keep them in my prayers.

Sensi Roger: Not sure when/if you will check this prior to me seeing you at the show, but thanks for all your help on this.

All Others: My "blazer" for the event will more than likely be a red gortex jacket. I am flying out so I have to make my packing count, it has great pockets for sticking stuff in while at the show, (digital camera, 12' tape, pen, tablet..things ya need when seeing new boats with possible ideas for our own..) and... I like the idea of name tags simply because of the numbers. Being from the east side, this will be a BIG meeting time for me with close to 70 new friends figuring the C-Dory factory folks, the Dory owners and families.. But, no big deal either way.... Like Roger said...we have folks who have lost their lives, family members and/or homes of late. If we are down to nametags at a gathering...we are over Blessed. Looking forward to it all.... Fly out in less than 48 hours!!

Poor Roger (fishtails).....the 101 Freeway is closed and he does not have a way to get to the airport.... I may have to launch in Oxnard and go get him in Santa Barbara just so we can get to LAX Friday morning... I wonder how his swimming skills are?? (at 4:30 am)
Somehow Roger and I will be in Seattle by noon Friday...gotta bring him..he has the room reservation...I have the plane tickets.

Joel (SEA3PO)

does Roger still have his wet suit and dingy? what a mess you folks have going down there.....be sure to pack your sun glasses and suntan lotion

Anyone want to carpool from the hotel over to the boat show on Saturday? Tom & I are up for about a half day at the show... gotta reserve some energy for the C-brat evening. We'll be driving up Saturday and don't know our way around Seattle but I figure we can manage.

Hopefully everyone will arrive there with no swimming required!
- Rene

Joel-
The roads won't be open till sometime Friday, the train tracks are buried also. If you can meet me at the Ventura Harbor, I'll take the Condor Express from Santa Barbara to Ventura Thursday after work.

Tacoma has it right! In the News Tribune this morning there is a listing under Events (page E-2) that shows a picture with the information about the Seattle Boat Show. The picture is of a C-Dory 22 with twin Hondas, and a C-Dory 19, taken at last years show.

Of all the hundreds of boats displayed at the show, they knew which manufacturer to feature!!!! :D Robbi

(Yes, I would lkie to car pool.)

Roger...I was kinda hoping you were going to demonstrate your inflatable techniques...yer kinda famious fer yer landings...heck from Goleta to Ventura would only take 6 or seven hours in a rubber boat...(2 hp.)

I had not even thught that there might be a commercial boat making the run between Santa Barbara and Ventura....heck maybe we should establish a
C-Taxi service....we'll have those new 25'ers in just a few days !! :moon

Rene! If ya can't catch a ride with anyone, we will be at the Hawthorne Saturday bright and early and you'all can ride with us if ya want.

Roberta..Saw that pic too, am cutting it out..you are right about the right Outfit to banner! It is from the 2003 show..that is the Laurna Jo with the twins on it and the one next to it where the guy is standing above it is the Mar-T of Mike and Marty's.
All the C-Dory's that year were C-Brats, the aforementioned plus Migael & Bill's 16,Scout, Lyle and Shelly's 25, Bess-C , and of course Dusty's Tomcat C-Salt... What a Show that was!!
And sounds like we got some more C-Brats in the Show this year too!! :thup

Truly looking forward to seeing yall...
Flight in 4 hours!!!

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAA

4 days of nothing but boats and C-Dory friends!!!

Byrdman, Heading North East from Montgomery, AL!!
FreeByrd having to stay at the dock for this trip..

This place is beyond my ability to describe!! Roger--I ditto all of the accolaids for you efforts and extend MY THANKS as well! This PUB stuff is all new to me and I am not only looking foreword to meeting new folks (friends if I'm accipted), seeing lots of boat stuff and probably leaving the SBS with a lighter wallet. No C-D yet, but the planned delivery date for a 22 will be April of 06. Lots of time to get pages of advice on how to spend more $$$$!

Plan to be at both gatherings, have my lodging on the back of my truck so will see ya on Friday and/or Saturday.

Well Doug, let me help you out. I'll e-mail you my address, just leave the check blank, I'll do the rest.
Welcome to the pub. See ya at the CBC/Factory tour.

well, it looks like I won't have as much time at the boat show as I'd hoped. Durn kid thought it would be cool to go skiing and screw up his hip. He should get out of the hospital tomorrow and be all better before to long. M might let me sneak up to the show Sat & Sunday for a bit but I'll have to wear that damn shock collar again
