01/14/05-01/16/05 - Seattle Boat Show and C-Brat Convention

Roger, Thanks for doing all of the great work to make the SBS a happening! Could you sign me up for a Studio Suite for Sat night? Thank you. Robbi

Put Kate and I down for Sat night at the motel. We will come in Sat early for the show and leave Sunday for an afternoon with daughter and family in Puyallup.

I suggested to Roger that we host the Saturday night festivities at the new factory. We have a nice size office/ banquet area, and it would give everyone a chance to see the new facility.

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff - sounds like a good idea for the party to me...since it is private premises, would a keg of Snoqualmie Falls beer be out of line?

I like the idea. I like it a lot. Thanks to Jeff, Scott and the rest of the CD crew for suggesting it and making it happen. It's not like they don't have anything else to do that time of year.

Jeff: Thanks for that offer.... I appreciate it and get to see the shop for sure that way...

Roger: Still holding my breath  waiting for the name/phone number and address of the hotel we are booking in.... Us east side guys are a few hours ahead in the business day. I appreciate your help and efforts on this. Looks to be a great trip building up.

Here's my take on this. Roger is waiting until the arrangements are nailed down firmly, and then he will post the name and number of the motel, as well as the secret code word to get the special rate. Last year, we had some hairy moments calling the previous hotel. Some of the staff knew about us, and some didn't. To make it all work, we'll wait until Roger has it all in place. At that time, it will be easy for everyone to call the motel directly and make their own arrangements for the rooms.

Now, the first year, when Chivita did all the arranging at the place he managed, was really great. But Chivita quit 'em, and I don't think he bothered to find other gainful employment. Last I heard he was a boat bum.

But Roger, as much as he would like to be a boat bum, has some other things in life he must tend to. You can bet, though, that before the John Deere has cooled down he will be on this. We still have two full months to wait, anyhow.

I just want to say thanks to Roger for everything. That, and "What's the damn holdup, big guy?"

Thanks Mike: After tommorow I will be out of the net for about 4 or 5 business days and if a limited number of rooms at the discounted rate were offered, I did not want to miss the deal. If you see the secret squirrel password being passed or get it yourself and I am out of the net, please get me logged in on one of the 2 br suites. Thanks!

Hey thanks Mike
Yes I am a little bit busy yet here on the farm tryin to get the equipment cleaned up and all.
Byrdman
Not to worry on missin out on a room. they have lots of room yet and I put a hold on 20 rooms to get started. last count I have is 18 rooms needed so far and this is very early for them. I told them we would probably need 3 or 4 two bedroom suites so you will be taken care of .
The lady in charge of setting up groups is out till Friday, not today like I thought. so Patience is virtue my friends.

On another note, how many people would want to have some sort of doins friday nite in the motel since the Factory is being so gracious and inviting us to the factory on Saturday evening????????

Roger, try to keep a couple of extra rooms if you can, string them out if possible. I'm trying like Hexx to figure out a way to get there...Too many places to be at one time but would love to meet all the folks there on the Left Coast and see the factory...

Man, this guy is singing already about the SBS. Wait until a couple hours into the CBC and see if he livens his tune up any! I am real glad you will be there. You sound like someone I might be able to get along with.:note

Hey, watch it buddy! That "guy" you wnt to get along with is a gal - my WIFE! The hotel thing sound pretty good, even though we live 1/2 hour away from the baot show.

The Chris half of Janet & Chris!

Hey, watch it buddy!

Oops.

Hey, how was I supposed to know?? The only guy who can see the gender of someone posting a message is the Head Nerd, and he has been in so much trouble for that at work that he rarely checks anymore.

It's sheer lunacy around here.

Roger: Thanks for the hotel set up...and I do think it would be fun to have a get together Friday night at the hotel in addition to the Sat night gig. I would be glad to print us out some name tags with out names, vessel name, and home port on them. I have never met any of the west coast folks other than Les @ EQ and they sure help initial gatherings/meetings.
I have not locked in my airline tickets so I do not know what time I will arrive. I would love to leave east coast around 5am which would put me in SEATAC around 9-10am after picking up luggage/rental car, which would give me time to go to the show for a bit prior to heading out of town for Kent to avoid the Friday afternoon traffic. I got hung in that twice...once while visiting Ft. Lewis for an EOD staff visit, and the second time, pulling my boat home. I do not want or need a 3rd time. If my wife Sherryl joins me, a flight departing at 5am....might not be as popular with her... :amgry :amgry and I would simply have to leave off the Friday visit to the show and go straight to the Kent area hotel. However if my brother(s) come with me... we may even fly in Thursday night.... :beer giving us time to see each other and have more time together. I will know that after Thanksgiving weekend.
As far as the patience.... I have ordered some very often and more times than not.... it has back-ordered... I too can hear the music :note :note and feel the excitement building... :teeth :smileo :thup Byrdman (grin)

I was wondering if the Brat convention would be a place were we might have as an event a small swap meet. People bring marine stuff for free, trade or swap. I am not talking about engines or trailers but things like old electronics, hardware, boat jewlery, etc. Just an idea, what do you think?

Fred

I can see where Mike will be trying to trade off a pack of wild dogs. Rather than drag a bunch of stuff up there, how about a swap thread?
