Me too - I had missed the word to which you are referring the first time but here it is as defined by a google define:distaff

Distaff -
1) the sphere of work by women
2) female: characteristic of or peculiar to a woman; "female sensitiveness"; "female suffrage"
3) the staff on which wool or flax is wound before spinning

We need more people like Bill and El to help expand our vocabulary while simultaneously learning about boating....

Will be good to see you at the show. also all you others that I didn't get to know so well last year....lol.... :beer :beer
Terry, I hope you don't require much sleep......lol..... :beer :beer
Things are comming together quite well. We have already got about 10 or 12 rooms reserved. Linda has kept me up to date on who has called her.
looking forward to getting more people on the list soon.
remember , :phone it is only a phone call away

Well, now I've gone and done it.  Made reservations with Linda for Thursday through Sunday nights. She's getting me flights and a car too. Reserved a 2BR place, trying to convince Dusty to come down for one or two nights (Friday/Saturday) if he can. I'll have space on Thursday and probably Sunday nights if someone else needs a place to bunk.

Sitting here watching the CMA Awards-- Go Country
oh, ok wrong site? Where am I? oh yea
I think I may be able to get some airline tickets- If so then we'll be heading up to the SBS-- hopefully we don't have to excape Santa Barbara like I did last year. If the deal on the tickets don't work out, well- ya'll have fun, I have some things down here to do.

We have had Raven Dancer for about two weeks now and we are having a lot of fun making her "ours" We are going to spend the night at Cathlamet this week end just to make sure the shore power works and see how the Wallace works.
Anyway if we don't have to work the Portland Boat Show we would like to come to the Seattle show. My question is how do we find everyone ? and where is everybody staying ? We never have been to a C-Dory gathering and figure that if we don't have to work the Portland show the Seattle show would be a good place to start !
Thank you.......Big Dave.

hey neighbor, Congratulations on the boat, Cathalamet should be quiet this time of year, should make for a nice weekend.
It seems to me that at the SBS, the C-D display is somewhat like a Brat base camp. Folks head there like flies to a bug zapper and then venture off on short junkets to look at other stuff only to be drawn back to the zapper.

What are you doing at the Portland show?

When I was down to the factory today I had a short conversation with Jeff Messmer and he wanted me to let you all know that they will once again supply us with a stack of boat show tickets . I will be getting them from him and have them at the motel on Thursday for handing out throughout the weekend.
Also they are looking forward to the party and social on Saturday night and hope it is as successful as last year. For those that didn't make it last year, we had a very good time and there was lots of food and great socializing.Well woth the trip !!!!!

I also talked with Linda and she says that we have over 20 rooms already booked. Great going guys and gals. she is having fun talking with all of us from all the different parts of the country !!!!!
Keep on signing up so we can fill the motel up with C-Brats....lol....
For those that didn't make it last year, the rooms are great and a great price to boot. we will have access to their larger room for the Friday night social so come on down for a good time.

Oh man, I've got to pick up that phone and make that call. I was just cruising around the boat show web site to see if they had any ticket deals, last year I bought tickets over the web and recieved free subscriptions to Sea and Trailer Boat magazines. Free tickets would be great but if I can get the magazines for another year for the price of tickets, that would be goodOn the boat show web site they have a notice at the top of the home page that says something to the efffect that because the Sea Hawks are having such a great year, the boat show dates may have to be changed.....arg, something to keep an eye on....The NFL schedule shows the Divisional Playoff on the 14 & 15, unless the Hawks just fold up, there'll be a game in Seattle on one of those days

Glad to hear the factory is going to do another wing ding, that was fun and informative last year.

Roger: Thanks for your time and effort on this. As you and I talked earlier in the week... I may just stay over on the west coast being down in San Diego area 28Dec-1Jan, move to the LA area for Sherryl's conference and hopefully get to play on the Cat Box...opps, Bob Cat's new TC255...then Sherryl departs on either the 7th or 8th of Jan at which time I will start my migration North..... via SW airlines into Seattle....and will give you a shout on that. I may simply just have to change my arrival/pickup date for the Seattle rental car...and be sure to be back down to pick up my North Alabama (NY) room mate upon his arrival. May also give him a shout to see if he wanted to kick around a bit prior to his scheduled arrival date of Thursday, 12Jan06.

Going to go by the C-Dory plant to look at some tops for 19s, windows, and such ....and, go see Karl at the Wallas place for an upgrade to my heater.

Looking forward to seeing folks.

Patrick
I am looking forward to your coming up this way. you could take the airporter up from seatac and I can pic you up at the freeway. then we all can go south on Thursday and we could drop you at the airport to get your rental car and roommate.

on another note,
I recieved a email from Jeff Messmer concerning the Seahawks conflict and so I am posting a portion of it here for you to read.

*** SEATTLE BOAT SHOW DATES & SEATTLE SEAHAWKS PLAYOFF CONFLICT ***
In order to ensure the greatest number of show days, show hours, the maximum number of exhibitors, and the maximum amount of display space for exhibitors the NMTA Boat Show Committee and NMTA Board of Trustees unanimously approved the following policy:

The current dates for the Seattle Boat Show, including the Lake Union Boats Afloat Show, January 13-22, 2006 may change to accommodate the NFL playoff schedule. If the Seahawks win their division and finish the regular season with the first or second best record in the NFC conference, the Boat Show dates will move to January 6-14, 2006. Exhibitors should check www.exhibitor.seattleboatshow.com for updates as they become available.

*** FAQ #1 -WHEN WILL THE DECISION TO CHANGE THE DATES BE MADE? ***
This is the first FAQ on the list and it has been the most frequently asked question so far. The decision to change the show dates will be made when we are 100% certain the Seahawks have won their division and have the 1st or 2nd best record in the NFC conference. It's not likely that the Seahawks are going to "run away" from the other good teams in the conference by winning every game while the other good teams lose every game. No one can predict who will win or lose each week in the NFL. It could come down to the last week of the regular season on Sunday, January 1st.

This will not interfere with our gathering and factory open house for us. it just means that there is the possibility that we would be on the last weekend of the show instead of the first and that Sunday (the 15th after our party) would not be open for going to the show

Hey cool, party on, go Sea Hawks. Could be a helluva weekend, boat show, factory feast all followed by big time football on Sunday :) I wonder if we could get a huge C-Brat discount on tickets. I'd say it's a pretty durn safe bet that they win the division, they only need one win and they have some soft teams coming up

Since I won't be heading back north until 8 or so Sunday night, I'll spring for gas if anyone wants to go for boat ride on Sunday. I'm kind of suffering from withdrawal pains since October.

Hey Tom,

Can't do much about the boat ride but there is also an "in the water show" that your ticket will get you into and there is free shuttle service from the indoors show to the water, another good side venture that can be used to kill a little time. We've been and enjoyed it.

Update:.....or......no change............yet!

I just got a memo from the SBS regarding the possible change of dates for the show. They are at the mercy of the NFL regarding the playoff dates for Seattle on the weekend of the 13 & 14 of January should the SBS be advanced 1 week.

Realistically, I think we can plan on the show being moved up a week, from the 12-22 to 6-14, 2006. Seattle has too good a team this year and the balance of their schedule is on the soft side.

The real bummer is if the NFL schedules Seattle to have that weekends playoff game on the 13 (Saturday) it means there won't be a boat show either Saturday of Sunday (13th or 14th). Friday the 12th would then be the last day of the show.

The decision on the dates won't be made until they are 100% sure the Seahawks have won their division and have the 1st or 2nd best record in the NFC, which could be not until December 24th, or worst case scenario of January 1st. Obviously it will probably be until then before the NFL dictates whether the game will be on Saturday or Sunday.
