    Volt meter conundrum.

My 22 Cruiser has start and house batteries that are independent unless their switch is set to "Both" for charging while underway. I'm aware that a forgetful me could kill them both, but my conundrum today is: Which one does the dashboard voltmeter read? More to the point, can I get a dual...

New owner in Alaska - couple of questions please

Be a little careful with the Sailrite company. I wound up with their walking-foot sewing machine that would penetrate and sew 1/4 inch leather. I then used their kit to make a sail for an MC Scow, backpacks, gear bags, some upholstry. And that was 20 years ago. I still enjoy their Hoosier...

    it just plain died

For three or four years now, I've had a 2007, 22' Cruiser. Nicely laid out, more stuff than I could have justified, and it all works, sort of. The 2010 Yamaha 115 had 380 hours then and starts right up, smooth idle, maintenance on schedule, only non-ethanol with SeaFoam. Now, at 500 hours, it...

What Prop for Mercury 115 Command Thrust on 22 Cruiser

I've had an '07, 22 Cruiser for 3 years -- Great Boat! C Brats great as well. But the Yamaha 115 died with 500hrs. Always easy to start, smooth idle, ok power, no oil use, regular 100hr maintenance, for 3 years anyway. Then the engine saver engaged and the oil light came on. Dry dipstick...

Sea Foam to clear injector buggers

I have a 10 year old Yamaha 115, 4 stroke, with something like 300 hours. It starts promptly, but has lost power and WOT RPMs max out at about 4 grand. To my knowledge it has only had ethanol-free fuel, sometimes with Yami oil addition, and Stable over winter. I've heard good stuff for Sea Foam...

    Gotta be a short!

My 22 Curiser is fairly new to me, and I'm a really happy newbie. The two year old batteries would go flat in 48 hours, so I plugged in the shore power, everything seems turned off, so I'll let the charger "float," and all is well. Then the start batttery got really hot when I'm away for a...

    Performance before purchase.

Thanks for the prompt responses. It has become apparent the motors may not have been winterized, then set in a garage for 4 years. I'm thinking ethanol was involved ... in the fuel, of course. The carbs are being cleaned, so we'll see if that helps. Should I walk away, look for new power...

    Performance before purchase.

I am looking at a used 22 Cruiser with 2 Honda 40s. Question: Top speed is 20 Kts and seems a little doggy @ 35k rpm. And, it will not get to "on top of the water" plane with a single 40. Is that performance to be expected?
