    Removing paint with oven cleaner?

I successfully removed the old name of my CD22 with oven cleaner, but not without a few heart-stopping moments. On nice shiny, unoxydized gelcoat ( like under the V-berth cushions) it had no effect on the finish. However, on the oxydized gelcoat surrounding the painted on name it caused a nasty...

    Removing paint with oven cleaner?

Charlie, I'm told (by one unconfirmed source) that easyoff works better than paint remover and I had a bad experience several years ago using a paint remover that was supposedly formulated for use on fiberglass. While trying to remove several years of bottom paint from my Stone Horse it softened...

    Removing paint with oven cleaner?

We did it! Bought a good used 1999 CD22. Drove from Providence to Baltimore through 8 hours of hurricane rain and wind on 10/28 (which hurricane was that anyway?) to pick it up from Cutter Marine. Wanted good used boat on East Coast

it seems that the boat I was planning on looking at on Friday 9/10/04 has been bought sight unseen today9/7/04. I'm looking for a good used CD22 cruiser located somewhere in the East or Northeast. Would be nice to have something for the 2005 season. :sad

What to look for in a used CD?

Thanks for the tip Jack. You're right about the design now that I think of it. Without the superstructure a CD is essentially just a big Amesbury skiff.

What to look for in a used CD?

Charlie, Thanks for the advice. The one thing I do find curious about this boat is the use of balsa core instead of a closed cell foam core below the waterline. I used to own a Stone Horse sloop which was cored with foam below the waterline. I will certainly give that area of the boat a close look.

What to look for in a used CD?

Hello all, I'm a new member, David Witbeck from Providence, RI. A few weeks ago my wife, Barbara, said those magic words: "I think we need a bigger boat". I first saw a CD at a Providence boat show several years ago. It was about the only boat there worth looking at in spite of its West-Coast...

    GOLLYWOBBLER

Hi, I'm new to the group. Hope to be a genuine owner member soon...am looking at a used CD next week. Anyway... I believe a gollywobbler is a spinnaker-like sail ste between the fore and main or the main and mizzen on a two-masted vessel.
