Marines place $22.5M order for M1911

The 1911 drop safety was address years ago by Colt. They developed a rather complicated system for it that was not really necessary but did stop drop fires. Most modern 1911 manufactures use a lightweight firing pin combined with a heavy firing pin spring. California requires every model sold...

Marines place $22.5M order for M1911

Since my wife occasionally reads my posts on C-Brats I will not go into the exact number of 1911s I have collected over the years. I inherited my dads from WWII, which I first shot when I was 12. Could not hit a thing with it. Still can't, but I love holding it with it's memories. These are...

    New to Forum

Here is a little video of Sea-Cruz a 22, in what I would say is 4-5 foot seas on Monterey Bay in California. The weather forcast was for 5.6 feet at 7 seconds but I an sure this is less. The video starts out with flat seas and ends with flat seas. This kind of ride is fun. Shorter, steeper...

Trim Tab Position in Head Seas

I have been discovering that Sea-Cruz runs best into a head sea with trim tabs all the way down. It feels a little strange with the bow down far more than the deep vees out there with me. Almost makes be feel like I will do the "dive-dive-dive" sub thing. The ride seems to just keep getting...

    Porta Potti conversion

I got rid of my porta potty and replaced it with a 5 gal. bucket with a seat designed for 5 gal. buckets. I then use a plastic trash can liner and cat little in the bottom. Works great for weekend trips more comfortable than porta potty. Don't know what Ontario would say about it. Ron

    Cruising Europe

Tristan Joes, after lossing a leg, took Outward Leg across Europe including through many Communist countries. I would guess this voyage would be easier in today's political climate. Here is a link to the book with a good part of it on-line as a "sample."...

    Ranger 21EC questions

I have a friend who is considering the purchase of a Ranger Tug 21ec. This is for use on Monterey Bay and waters offshore central California and the Delta. When I look at the low freeboard on the 21ec I wonder if it would be adequate for these waters. It seems the C-Dory has a lot more freeboard...

What is your tow vehicle / what's a good price for a trailer

It seems there are two camps of towing. Those that want the biggest vehicle to tow load possible. These people seem to recommend 3/4 ton trucks for a 22 or a 25. Some prefer a 1 ton for 25 and up. The other camp is trying for ride, economy, general usage, or just looking to use what they...

    IPAD 2 MOUNT

Along these same lines, the Apple Wireless keyboard($69.00), which I love, and the Incase Origami Workstation($29.99)work together really well. Origami: http://store.apple.com/us/product/H6353ZM/A Keyboard: http://store.apple.com/us/search?find=wireless+keyboard Ron

    IPAD 2 MOUNT

I bought the Sea Sucker for my iPad 3 and it works great with visual indication if the suck is getting weaker. Suck is a nautical term for vacuum. I did read in the instructions that some iPads do not have a rear logo that will form a solid suck seal. They suggest the included Apple decal be...

Smart Phone vs Tablet Whats your choice?

I received my new iPad 3 with 64GB of storage and 4G LTE Verizon service. The GPS reception is better than my iPhone 4, as in faster to connect and holds the signal in more difficult places including my basement where the phone will not connect. The new quad processor is VERY fast and runs...

Battery storage compartment leaks on new boat?

Well, for the truly lazy I offer my solution. I use a plastic lid from a storage container held down with a diving weight over the top of each lazerth. Take them off when I launch along with tie downs. Some day I will get the new hatch covers. For now my lazerths are dry...unless it rains while...

New owner for "Blues Crusier" question(s)

Until I saw the 12,000 btu number I was going to say to look at the Yami EF2000 at 44 lbs but not for 12,000 btu. Amazon has the Yami EF2400 for $1,331 and says it will start most 13,500 btu air conditioners. As thataway mentioned, I like the option of two Honda or Yami 2000s in parallel...

How do you get the most out of a gallon of gas?

I often limit myself to using 5 gallons of gas for the day. That gives me 20+ miles of playing which is plenty most days when I am out just whale, sea otter, and dolphin watching. I keep both tanks half full and bring a five gallon can to add alternatively to each tank. Actually all I have is a...
