Would You Cruise San Juan Islands in 16' C-Dory?

Really appreciate all the great comments, especially that the C-Dory 16 "will probably handle ocean conditions better than the occupants." And that some days, a person could cruise the San Juans in a rowboat or kayak! The biggest issue we've had is large wakes from other boats. Yes.....when...

Would You Cruise San Juan Islands in 16' C-Dory?

Interested in your thoughts/recommendations about the safety of cruising the San Juan Islands for a few days this summer in our 16' C-Dory cruiser....starting in Anacortes and going to Friday and Roche Harbors, and Orcas. Have done this comfortably in a 22' Bayliner before, and well realize...

Is 19’ Angler big enough to sleep aboard for 2

More info....just want to know if there is room on a 19’ Angler model for two people to sleep up front? We have slept aboard a 16’ cruiser...but know that Angler cabins are designed relatively small...more for storage. Also, is my 5 hp Honda kicker big enough to troll...and especially get it...

Is 19’ Angler big enough to sleep aboard for 2

22’ is too big and heavy for our truck. So is a 19’ angler an option for crabbing and sleeping aboard? And...is a 5hp big enough for a kicker? Is it workable to use as angler/cruiser?

    05/18 - 05/20 - 2018 Friday Harbor CBGT

Judy and I will be at Friday Harbor on Saturday, but unfortunately have to leave our amazing recently purchased C-Dory behind as we are picking it up at end of this month. What do we need to bring, and are there any Saturday events or an itinerary? We will be in Friday Harbor just for the day...

16' Cruiser Canvas Cabin Drop Curtain?

Marty, I knew you would come through with some good advice.....as always. I talked with Churchills this morning, and I agree with your preference of a roll door and weighted bottoms of the outside pieces. I should mention that Angola said they could make one w/windows for $275 w/Sunbrella...

16' Cruiser Canvas Cabin Drop Curtain?

Any recommendations for a shop that could make a canvas drop curtain for our 16' C-Dory cruiser's cabin? (near Anacortes, Whidbey, Bellingham, Mount Vernon etc preferably). And.....any (snowballs) chance that anyone has one for sale, or made one themselves and would share info/patterns...

    Whidbey Island Landslide

Bill and El.....thanks for checking in on all your friends on Whidbey. As you know, we live on the west side of Whidbey near Fort Ebey overlooking the Straits of Juan de Fuca and Admiralty Inlet, but at at a very safe distance from the nearby mid-bank bluff. We didn't build directly on the...

    Gas Prices

Just before current energy secretary Steven Chu was appointed in 2008, he made this incredulous statement (that he now is running away from). “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” Well, as we know from our ultra painful experiences at the...

    Buying a C-Dory~~~SIGHT UNSEEN~~~

Right off the top........NO......especially since this is a charter boat that has undoubtedly seen plenty of wear and tear, or more to the point, use and abuse. This isn't exactly grandpa's boat with low hours sitting in a heated garage in Anchorage. There's plenty of money pit deals out...

    Coast Guard - Court Marshal

This recent Coast Guard helicopter tragedy takes me back to the exact same location in the summer of 1961, when I was twelve years old. The place is Rialto Beach, near the mouth of the Quillayute River, in full view of James Island and the several unmarked (at the time) powerlines that extended...
