    Bow mounted search light

Thank you all for the input you saved me a lot of hassle in running those wires. Didn't know about the hardplate and was considering which upright to go through. I really appreciate it thanks

    Bow mounted search light

I just finished fabricating a mount for a searchlight which I'm mounting on the bow railing. My question is can I run the wiring through the railing. Anyone who has done that I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks

    22' C-Dory Capsizing

To give a very simplified answer I will offer the following. Stability is based on center of gravity, center of buoyancy and the righting arm of the boat. The righting arm being the distance from the center of the boat to the edge that meets the water. Imagine being on a bouy in the water and...

    C-Dory Factory Communication

I recently had a problem with my boat and contacted Seasport via E-mail thinking maybe I might get a response. The next day Scott called me direct and was quite helpful with my problem. I was very impressed with his concern and commitment to the C-Dory line.

    Boat listing on mooring

Jay I think your 1/2" hole will allow you to epoxy in a good drain plug so I wouldn't regret drilling the hole. I think it's important you get that plugged up maybe less in your case since you run with canvas up. I do a lot of fishing so don't keep my cockpit covered. I would still think about...

    Boat listing on mooring

Thanks Captain Ron for the information it has been very helpful for me and I'm sure other owners dealing with this factory defect. I'm kind of torn between hauling the boat and working on the problem or spending another month on the water. This boat really extends the New England season and...

    Boat listing on mooring

Captain Ron thanks for taking the time to recount your experiences with this problem. Did you find a lot of water under the second hatch you drilled? What was the condition of the foam was intact and just full of water? Could you tell if there were any voids where the water could be trapped...

    Boat listing on mooring

The way Scott at Seasport explained if water freezes in the foam it basically destroys the structure of the material I'll have to see when I look in there. Are you sure they used closed cell foam Jay? Also Jay he told me that water may not drain out the back and actually recommended I put a...

    Boat listing on mooring

I just talked to Seasport about the water under the cockpit liner. There is foam under the liner and because it froze he beleives the foam has broken down and absorbed water. He's not a fan of using foam in the way Fluid Marine had done and in the new boats he's using stringers for support...

    Free Belt Wear Gauge

I have to analyse a lot of Gates timing belts at work and they have very explicit documents with pictures for GT2 belts, Polychain etc. I've never looked at Poly-vee belts but they may have something at their Website under Gates Facts , White Papers, or One of their design guides. You have to...

    Boat listing on mooring

I just heard from Seasport boats. I had contacted them earlier today. Scott Boysen the VP responded to my email he asked me for specs on the boat. He said he would try to help but its only been 6 weeks since they aquired Fluid. I asked him for a drawing of the liner installation. I'll keep you...

    Boat listing on mooring

Thanks for your input Papillon but I'm still concerned. I had my 3.5 dinghy motor on the starboard side and it still listed which is what got me worried to begin with. I also had issues on a Whaler with an open bilge to the hull void which was packed with foam. Do you know what is under the...

    Boat listing on mooring

Good hearing from you Jay, beautiful place you live in been there a number of times. There was definetly an air pocket under my bilge it was like drilling sheet metal it gave after it penetrated the liner. Last year when I asked the dealer he said that the factory was forgetting to put drain...

    Boat listing on mooring

I've noticed a slight list on my mooring on the port side. I know there is more weight due to the water tank and gear I have stored under my dinette but my real concern is water under the cock pit decking. Last season when I was drilling a hole for a new bilge point I had water start to spurt...

    Like a cork !

I try to travel long distances on the ocean when conditions are good but sometimes you have to get somewhere. I was traveling from Gloucester Ma. to Portsmouth NH about 25NM in some pretty rough stuff on Weds. Seas were 2-3 steady and 3-4 in some spots. A fishing boat from Gloucester had...

    Operating In Heavy Current

I run the Piscataqua also and know how bad things can get with an engine down. Blew a cylinder on my old whaler once over by the power plants luckily a good samaratin towed me out. The river current is very strong at certain times in the tide cycle. I have a 90 suzuki on my 22 cruiser and when...

Nearly had an accident, but why?

I had the same experience when I first got my CD22. I was on the ocean and had the trim tabs down runiing about 16kt. A steep wave pushed my stern buryed the bow. The boat went sideways and scared the heck out of me. After that I learned don't use the trim tabs on the ocean or in any rough...

    Operating in Strong Current

I've been running the Piscataqua for 14 years and when the current is running at peak velocity it's quite a force. My last boat was a 20ft Boston Whaler with a 150 and I never had a problem but you could always hear the motor working hard against the current. I just purchased my C-Dory last...
