Hi Dave. The Dri-Dek is not hot to the touch,They are more air than plastic,so its ventilated instead of solid. Also pick a light color to asist,I picked light tan ,matched my original color. You should have no problem in new england.

    Water in Steps

My 06 23 venture has stains and cracks in the forward end of the step where mould grows.I have not heard water sloshing but think there may be some water in there, after removing screws from the water pump located on the cabin inside wall ,I noticed the s.s screws were black.I suspect water is...

Here is a dumb one, Sole's in 22 cockpits...

Yep. I used the the Dri-Dek solution for my 06 23' with fixed floor cockpit.I used it to run under the fuel tanks to allow water to run to the bilge without rotting the aluminum tanks while keeping the cockpit sole dry.I live in Florida where the sun is strong and the Dri-Dek has proven to be...

It's those damn disc brake calipers again

Colbysmith. All kidding aside, your 25 footer (near 7K LBS loaded) puts a lot of wear and tear on those Dexter units, seems like you are very attentive to your maintenance schedule and still having no luck.I would trash them an go with Kodiak or another HD brand.. I would hate to loose a citizen of...

It's those damn disc brake calipers again

Peter and Judy. Yes......very funny! I remember 1974 where half of New England had gone through the expense of having speed limit and distance signs duplicated mph/ kph; they stayed up for years.I think Maine still has them,Eh.I still prefer am/pm to 24 hrs though.

My AIS-800 is hiding from me!

1Ensure that the MMSI number is entered into the VHF radio correctly as it can only be entered once. If the MMSI number is entered incorrectly, the VHF radio will need to be sent into Garmin to have the incorrect MMSI number cleared. Contact Product Support to have an RMA (Return Materials...

It's those damn disc brake calipers again

https://forums.iboats.com/threads/shoul ... er.765133/ I found this interesting thread, Might be worth reading; touches on brake fluid replacement and collapsing of hoses on the release function of the calipers.

It's those damn disc brake calipers again

More thoughts on the brake issue ,from reading the prior comments I have this to offer. My concern with hot brakes would be the drake fluid boiling and blowing out the caliper piston 'O' ring resulting in brake failure; so solving this problem would be imperative. Using a brake controller in the...

    A/C for Venture 23.

Thanks Bob,I have installed 3x100amp LiPo batteries and roof top rigid panels which charges at 13.5 volts.I will have to do more research!I am confused about auto switching and how to integrate 120V A/C shore power.I was considering a panel switch and two separate circuits.,What are your...

    A/C for Venture 23.

I agree, technology is moving forward, especially in battery capacity and compressor efficiency.I am looking at installing a 12V DC roof unit in my 23 Venture, with AC/DC inverter for pedestal use and battery use on the water overnight. One of the units I am considering (not recommending at this...

It's those damn disc brake calipers again

Just a thought about the deteriorating sliding pin cover boots. If the boot stays on,all well and good,I think the boot is there to resist the caliper pin from rusting and gumming up while the pads are wearing and restricting the inward motion of the moving part of the caliper. It is disconcerting...

    Moving battery bank to galley

Great topic.I have a comment that might be helpful. With the Li Po4 and other BMS controlled batteries I would recommend an on post blow fuse in case of control failure and back feed.I have installed one 30A on each of my two 100 amp.JUST JUST IN CASE.A fire ( in the cabin area ) is a concern...

    A/C for Venture 23.

Thanks for all the suggestions,I am still mulling over 120V or 12V and combinations thereof. I did look at the split unit at 12V used primarily in tractor trailer cabs mounted in the cab rear wall with flexible hose line set. Maybe mounting on the starboard outside bulkhead under the window and...

Hi to all you Folks out there in Doryland,The weather is changing here in south Florida,I can now do some needed upgrades to Sea~Dory~Able.I was considering roof top A/C or the traditional water-cooled with through hull or a carry aboard.I did order a roof top unit but cancelled the order until...

    Solar panels mounting

Thanks, everyone for the helpful comments,I was not aware that the panels would benefit from the air flow, I was only thinking of the curve in the roof and now I am convinced that a two tier s/s frame will be used, the lower for the panels and an upper for boards or kayaks (maybe).I assumed the...
