    v-berth "middle" cushion

My 2006 25' Cruiser does not have a cushion in the opening of the v-berth between the starboard and port cushions. (There must be a more nautical way to say that!) Did the boat originally come with that feature? Does the manufacturer carry replacements, or do you know of a good way to build one?

    Motor Trim Meter

I have twin Honda 90's on my 25. Separate meters show the trim of the motors. One meter works, the other (starboard) doesn't. The electrical connections to the meter look fine. Where on the motor is the device that tells the meter what the trim is?

    Replacing a FloJet 4405

I have a FloJet 4405 on my 2006 25' Cruiser. The pump is acting up. If I decide to get a new one, should I get another 4405, or should I switch, and, if switching, to what brand and model?

    Proper C-Dory Toolbox

I am tired of shlepping my tool box from home to boat and boat to Bolinas and need to build a tool collection to keep on the boat and in the dock box. Christmas is coming and my wife and kids might give me a tool or two. So, starting with the tool box, what do you all think would make a good...

    Sea Conditions

We stuck our nose outside the Golden Gate yesterday, and got slammed around. On Wednesday, the temperature is supposed to be warm and the winds are supposed to be light. But a surfing site says the swell will be 5-6 feet. I don't know how to translate that into smooth or rough for our 25...

    Windlass Doesn't Operate -Battery Arrangement

When I toggle my windlass switch to down or up, nothing happens, no sound, and the house battery gauge goes from just under 14 to just above zero or so. Simpson-Lawrence Sprint 600. The switch is next to the helm. Behind the helm chair is a stand-alone heavy duty circuit breaker with a red...

Windlass - Are Batteries Hooked Up Improperly?

Out at Crystal Cove on Treasure Island in SF Bay yesterday, and the anchor would not drop. Not a sound when I pushed the toggle switch. I checked the special fuse for the windlass, but it seemed not to have been triggered. However, every time I tried, the GPS/fish finder would turn off and...

    Fluffy White Corrosion In Cabin

I have a 2006 25' Cruiser. Suddenly this year (I bought it in 2012 and moved it from SoCal to the Bay Area - kept at the dock both places) there was fluffy white corrosion where one grommet screws into the window frame. The white fluffy powder falls down and collects on the shelf below the...

    Electronics

I got my boat back from its bi-annual outboard motor servicing. Everything was fine on the trip home, but at the dock I noticed that water wasn't coming out the little hole on one of the motors. The mechanic cleaned out the hole, and I started off back toward the shop to have another task...

Books on Mechanical and Electrical Systems

I came across this book in a Google search: Boatowner's Mechanical and Electrical Manual: How to Maintain, Repair, and Improve Your Boat's Essential Systems. Do you know it? Do you like it? Do you have other suggestions?

    V-Berth Insert - 25' Cruiser

Tessa's V-berth does not have a cushion between the legs of the V, but it does have grooves where the cushion would appear to belong. Has anyone made an insert, and do you have plans, suggestions, warnings, photos, specifications? Thanks.[/i]

    Sealing Transom-Mount Transducer Holes

My transom mounted Raymarine transducer and bracket had to be removed to properly attach the transducer to the bracket. When the yard reattached the bracket to the transom, they did not put new sealant in two old screw holes. I assumed that was because the old sealant was doing the job. They...

    Delta Trip from Berkeley

I want to take a 3 or 4 day cruise by water (no trailering - don't have a truck) from the Berkeley Marina to explore the Delta. I have a 25' Cruiser with twin 90's. Can anyone suggest a good route and a good place to base the trip once we get up there? Timing is probably late September...

    Coaming Pocket

I have a 2006 C-Dory 25' Cruiser. It has port and starboard coaming pockets. They measure approximately 10" x 34" outside, 7 3/4" x 32" inside and are 5" deep. I need a replacement (I won't tell you the sad story). SSI, the manufacturer last made these in 2009. They have a 10" longer...

Galvanic Isolator -- When to Use

When I am attached to shore power, do I always want the galvanic isolator on? When I am at sea, I assume that it doesn't function, just as the charger doesn't, right?

    Replacement coaming box

On my recently purchased 2006 25' cruiser, the starboard coaming box had been glued in place. It will likely break if I remove it. Are replacement boxes available?

    Crease in Isinglass

I had the isinglass curtains on the floor to roll them around a foam core with fleece blankets, but they got moved and folded, put out in the sun and left out overnight. I found them this morning and some of the windows have pretty severe creases, but not cracks. I now have them out in the...

C-Dory for Dummies - Manual for Marine Head

My 2006 25' Cruiser has a marine head operated by a pedal. I do not know how to use it, and there are no instructions in all of the manuals and papers I got with the boat. Can anyone describe how to operate and maintain the head or tell me how I can get an owner's manual for it?

    Thanks

Thanks for your help in my buying a C-Dory and thanks for your help in the issues that confront a new owner, new boater. Without you, it wouldn't have happened; and I am enjoying it (including the hassles) more than I can say.
